Bizarro World: Karl Rove Blasts Obama for 'Outsourcing Afghanistan'
Rove blasting anyone for outsourcing anything is like David Vitter lecturing the losers exiting a strip club about the evils of prostitution.
Now this just simply could not be made up in that Frankenstein laboratory where the cuckoos on the right wing cook up their witches brew of batshit crazy allegations to levy against Barack Obama. There are scores upon scores of issues where Obama should be rightly taken to task for continuing Bush-era "war on terror" policies, preemptively immunizing torturers, refusing to fight for Single Payer health care, hiring a team of hawks and neoliberal crooks to manage foreign policy and the economy, among many many others. At the same time, there are racist astroturf loons that appear to have recently landed on earth from planet Fiction and are navigating their way through the country, speaking in tongues, led by snakeoil salesmen like Glenn Beck.
But the headline in today's Wall Street Journal Op-Ed by former senior White House advisor Karl Rove is in a category all its own: "Obama Can't Outsource Afghanistan." The article is ostensibly about how Obama is delegating decision making on everything from Afghanistan to the CIA/torture investigation to others:
Mr. Obama's hands-off approach to the war seems to fit his governing style. Over the past year, he outsourced writing the stimulus package to House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, washed his hands of Attorney General Eric Holder's decision to reinvestigate CIA interrogators, and hasn't offered a detailed health-care plan.
Um, excuse me Karl, how about outsourcing an entire war to politically connected war companies? Remember those eight years? While Rove may be using the term "outsource" in a general way, let's remember this fact: never, ever in US history have more government and military activities been outsourced to private corporations than they were the day Bush and Rove left 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue and Obama moved in. For Rove-or any Bush-era official-to have the audacity to blast anyone for outsourcing anything is like a bigger-scale version of Republican Senator David Vitter lecturing the losers exiting Scores "gentlemen's club" about the moral evils of prostitution.
The real article that should come below a headline "Obama Can't Outsource Afghanistan" would never be written by Rove. Such an article would denounce the actual scandal of Obama's continuation of the Bush-Cheney-Rove policy of radically outsourcing the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq to corporate criminals like Armor Group, DynCorp, Blackwater, KBR, Triple Canopy, Lockheed Martin and many, many others.- Posted in

Show AllIt would appear as Karl "Turd Blossom" Rove has not lost one bit of narcissism and disdain for audience (what else can explain such a glaring example of hypocrisy) as he continues on his second career as a media gas bag for Rupert Murdoch.
Don't hear much about Wackinhut's merry party crowd lately!
Here's what I don't get about pundits like Scahill, who are so smart in so many other ways. Does he really believe what Rove did was write an op-ed to put forth his opinion about Obama or Afganistan? Don't be so naive Jeremy. Roves drivel is propaganda, pure and simple. Truth, facts, etc. have nothing to do with it. Rove knows he's lying, he knows he's being a hypocrite. Doesn't matter one bit when the purpose of the op-ed is revisionist history and propaganda.
It's like when Rove left the Bush White House. You'd hear pundits seriously ask, "now that Rove is gone...?" as if they honestly believed Rove was going to all of a sudden have no role.
I feel I should send Rove a "thank you" card....I haven't lauged this much in weeks! What a hoot. No one could make up this up indeed.
Thanks for the laugh Jeremy!
Why is this baldheaded sissy looking nothing even allowed to make any statement. For eight years he was one of the big mouths that was doing something everyday to destroy this country in every way. They or he has no reason to say anything about Obama. Any one running for President(except another repug) would have won. This sissy dude wears high heels and a dress at night. Is he flabber mouth Cheneys son. They sure favor and act alike. tHE TURD SHOULD BE IN PRISON AND NOT ALLOWED ON fOX THE PROPAGANDER NOTHINGS.Beck is brain dead like King George Bush for drugs a alchol. Tell chicken manure Rove to go find Bushs war record and check out his hero medals.
"Tell chicken manure Rove to go find Bushs war record and check out his hero medals."
That means we would never see him again! Darn!!
The BLACKEST of ALL.....BLACKWATER !!!!!
So appropriately named.....SEWAGE!!!!
The term "outsourcing" to me has always meant contracting some traditional governmental service (like operating a prison, delivering mail, picking up garbage, or running a military base mess hall) to some corporation which claims the private sector can provide comparable or better service at lower cost to the taxpayers. Mercenary outfits like Blackwater or Triple Canopy, providing armed private security services in combat zones, are an egregious example of how the waging of war itself can be outsourced.
Karl Rove whines about President Obama letting Congressman Obey draft stimulus legislation, Obama letting the Attorney General decide who merits investigation or criminal prosecution, and Obama letting Congress take the lead in writing a detailed health care reform bill. None of these three presidential decisions (whether you agree with the delegation of responsibilities or not) have jack shit to do with outsourcing, in any coherent sense of real world English language usage.
What Rove is actually trying to do is redefine "outsourcing" to mean something entirely different than the orgy of crony capitalism that ran amok during the Bush/Cheney years with such disasterous impact. When under critical scrutiny, change the focus of public anger by slyly transposing some labels. Voila! Instead of investigating billions of dollars of waste and fraud by Pentagon and other federal contractors such as KBR or Halliburton in occupied Iraq, let us instead pretend that the Obama White House is engaged in "outsourcing" when it plays the beltway separation of powers game with Congress somewhat differently than the Bushies did.
And of course don't miss the clever inclusion of Eric Holder into Mr. Rove's deliberately blurred semantic mix. The President of the United States has absolutely no authority - no "hands to wash" - when it comes to influencing how the Attorney General might exercise the prosecutorial powers of the US Department of Justice concerning torture or other federal crimes. This is simply more "partisan witch hunt" smokescreen, with Karl running interference for Dick Cheney and friends. It has nothing whatsoever to do with outsourcing.
Welcome to the Tower of Babel.

This is just the natural consequence of Obama failing to start prosecuting these guys the moment he sat his butt in the Oval Office. Given the 15-minute memory of the average American (oh look, Britney Spears!), the neocons will have rewritten the history of 2000-2008 before Barack leaves office.
JMA
Precisely!
Obama, in the spirit of 'bipartisanship' and 'looking to the future,' is probably inviting Karl Rove to the White House for tea as we speak!.
Neo fascism still has much to learn from it's fascist predecessors.

I'd rather think that it is the natural consequence of PELOSI failing to allow anyone to 'impeach' them back in 2006....
Ah, Rove's paid to spew.
Thanks to Scahill for holding the light to these perverse shenanigans again again - since the commercial media stays mostly stuck in reverse.
Would he had a staff to handle these things and leave him the harder targets though.
Remember this?
"The aide said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."[1](Ron Suskind)
I've always thought that "the aide" was KKKarl Rove....it sounds just like him--pompous ass that he is. So we should not be surprised at anything the fat little pig says.
I'm not sure the term "corporate" criminals is right. War criminals would be more accurate. The fact that Mr. Scahill has gotten little ink on his exhaustive investigation of this new imperialist tactic, says it all. Most "Americans" don't really care. Most like war just fine and have no problem with surly mercenary soldiers killing a few thousand tiny children, all in the name of the S&P 500. Who else is going to teach the rest of the world that we big tough Americans are always right.
I'm surprised Mr. Scahill and his cohorts have not gone after Rove Lieutenant, and Bush buddy, Mark McKinnon, who also is an 'instructor' at Harvard. McKinnon's story while he was a student at U of Texas and during the eighties in Austin, was one of a guy who could not control his appetite, and especially his appetite for cocaine. As late as the nineties he was implicated with convicted coke dealers from the area even while he was working for Bush. The stories are epic and a simple stop into "The Hole In The Wall" in Austin would probably shine some light on this lot. Someone needs to ask Mr. McKinnon why he gave the eulogy for convicted convict Greg Galloway, and someone needs to ask Mr. McKinnon where he was the night Galloway got busted with kilos of coke in Austin back in the 1980's. Or someone ought to contact Randy Galloway, who is a journalist in Dallas.
"Um, excuse me Karl, how about outsourcing an entire war to politically connected war companies?"
Let's not forget all the "NO BID" contracts that were handed out to those connected war companies.
Any thinking person would realize that by characterizing Obama's mishandling of Afganistan as "outsourcing" Rove is pointing out how Obama is seeking a consensus so he can withdraw. All poor leaders choose to hide behind consensus in an attempt to appear blameless for their decisions. It's funny that his "necessary war" is upsettting the lefties so now thinks he must retrench to help insure his re-election.
By having congress take the heat for foolhardy spending Obama can deflect the blame when the plans don't work. Same with the war....he will force out his appointed military leaders, appoint those who agree with his current view of the war, and retreat. All the while claiming victory and apologizing for "American mistakes".
Also, thinking people don't characterize those whom they disagree by getting personal or pointing out actual or perceived physical attributes or behaviors. To do so simply means they belong in the schoolyard sandbox, not in adult conversation on serious topics.
