Civilian Death Toll Rises After Second Day of Air Strikes
Death toll moves above 300. Calls for investigation after seven students at UN college die in missile attacks
To the doctors at the Shifa hospital in Gaza City it was another body on a chaotically busy day. By early Saturday afternoon the morgue was already overflowing so they laid out the corpse of 20-year-old Ali Abu Rabia on the floor outside. One of the hospital staff pulled out a mobile phone from his pocket, scrolled through the numbers, and called the young man's father.
Palestinians mourn over a body during the funeral of Ramzi Al Dheni and Ahmed Hammad, at a mosque in Rafah refugee camp, southern Gaza Strip, Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008. The two were killed in an Israeli airstrike in southern Gaza on Tuesday, dealing a new blow to efforts to restore a cease-fire. The army said it attacked militants who fired mortar shells at Israeli troops. Palestinian medical officials said the dead were civilians, boys ages 16 and 17.(AP Photo/Khalil Hamra) "I
was at work. Someone from the hospital called and said they had found
my son," said Marwan Abu Rabia, 44, a plumber. "I went straight to the
hospital and found him lying on the floor outside the morgue. There
were too many bodies. It looked like a massacre."
The hospital was so crowded staff held back relatives outside the building and turned away the lightly injured. They struggled to treat the seriously hurt, some of whom lay on beds in the corridors because of the congested wards.
Palestinian officials said the death toll from Saturday's air strikes was at least 280, with another 600 people injured. Most are thought to be police or security officials, but among the casualties were many civilians.
Several more Palestinians were killed and injured yesterday, although the Israeli air strikes were less extensive. One Israeli civilian was killed on Saturday by a rocket fired by Palestinian militants from Gaza.
Ali Abu Rabia was a student at a UN vocational college for Palestinian refugees in the Rimal district of Gaza City. He sat an exam on Saturday morning, his father said, and after the first Israeli air strikes decided to go home. He was standing in the street with others when an Israeli missile struck, at around 1.30pm. Reportedly it had been aimed at a policeman seen nearby with a walkie-talkie.
"It was a place full of students. It was not a military base. But in spite of this they still attacked, all because of one policeman," said Ali's father as he greeted mourners at a funeral tent at his home yesterday "Our situation is very bad and the cause is Israel. The response has to be very tough." He said he doubted there would be a peace agreement with Israel in the coming years. "I don't believe they want an independent Palestinian state," he said.
In that single air strike seven students were killed and another 20 were injured. The Guardian has learned of several other civilians who were killed and injured in the same strike on Saturday.
Chris Gunness, a spokesman for the UN Relief and Works Agency, which supports Palestinian refugees and feeds 750,000 Gazans, called for an inquiry into the attack. "Grave question marks hang over this killing ... There must be an investigation and the facts must get out. There must be accountability."
Another funeral tent was put up at a family home a few hundred metres away. Nehru Rayes, 47, was presiding over a funeral for his two sons Hisham, 25, a carpenter, and Alam, 18, who had been at school, and their cousin Abdullah, 21, who ran an internet cafe. All three were killed in the street, in the same air strike.
Rayes, a petrol station attendant, learned from the Shifa hospital that all three were dead, and that two other relatives had been injured. Representatives from the rival Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas had come to his house offering, as usual, to help with the costs of the funeral. He refused them both. "We've become like the homeless, begging for electricity, cooking gas and food," he said.
He spoke of the "corruption" of the previous Fatah governments and then said of the Hamas leaders: "They have everything they want: cooking gas, generators, and they can move whenever they want. But the Palestinian people are suffering."
Like many in Gaza yesterday, he spoke angrily of a desire for revenge against Israel. "When they fight face to face with armed groups that's OK, but when they attack civilians it's not acceptable," he said. "We need to go back to a ceasefire, eventually, but it has to mean all the crossings are open again and life returning to normal."
As he spoke another relative, Morad Rayes, 46, interrupted: "The disagreement between Hamas and Fatah gave the Israelis the reason to attack Gaza. All the ordinary people are suffering in this bad economic situation. It's just those belonging to the factions who benefit. We are facing a tough enemy. We have to be united."
Inside the Shifa hospital yesterday there were still relatives pouring through the corridors, looking for the injured. Most of the wounded spoke bitterly of their experience.
Mohammad Jahjouh, 21, lay on a hospital bed with cuts to his legs and side. He was injured late on Saturday night when an Israeli missile struck a mosque close to the hospital. "I thought I was dead but then I started to move my hands and legs and I screamed for help," he said. He was carried into the hospital. "It's unjust, unfair and aggression. After this huge number of casualties it would be a sign of weakness for us to ask for a ceasefire."
Gaza's streets were largely empty yesterday, with most shops closed and queues only at local bakers where people were stocking up with supplies.
Mowaffaq Alami, 35, was close to the main security headquarters, the Suraya, in Gaza on Saturday when it was attacked in the first round of Israeli air strikes at around 11am. "People were walking through the streets just like a normal day, children coming home from school. Suddenly, without any warning, the bombing started. We didn't even see the jets in the sky. That's why so many people were killed," he said. He said the first round of attacks was over within a few minutes but left dozens dead.
Alami lives in an apartment nearby and runs the Gaza office of One Voice, an initiative that works to support a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. "People are following the news, wondering what's coming next," he said. "People are very worried there may be an invasion. We used to plan our lives day by day. Now, it's hour by hour."

Show AllAgain as I mentioned in another thread the same tactic used on the West bank is being repeated.
First Israel DESTROYS the ability of Hamas to police the Strip by attacking its Police and security forces.
Then it will force Hamas to come to the table with the provision they properly police all the radical elements that exist in the Gaza strip or that will arise because of these latest attacks.
If Hamas is unable to comply because their forces have been destroyed Israel will claim once again they are unwilling partners in peace and will continue their attacks.
Ding, ding, ding we have a winner. Anyone who believes Israel's government wants peace is deluded but perhaps Israelis people do, does anyone have polling data on that? OTOH if Israel elects Likud that is a pretty clear message that the majority of Israel's people don't want peace either, sigh.
Kinda like how the Palestinians elected a party that is sworn to the destruction of Israel...
Hamas and Likud are pretty accurate reflections of each other in terms of attitude, the difference is Likud has quite literally 10,000 times more weaponry to murder people with.
One more difference...Hamas starts fights while Likud on ends them..
.Arrogant and close minded nonsense. It wasnt Hamas that withheld food and medicines during the cease fire, it was Israel. Is that not provocative enough for an agendized point of view like yours?
.
We see things, not as they are, but as we are.

Hamas is the radical element in Gaza, remember the rocket attacks increased once Hamas killed all the Fatah.
.Please preface your remarks with "once upon a time", so folks understand that it is fairy tales you spin.
Killed all the Fatah indeed. You seem to lack the understanding that truth makes the best weapon. Hamas was democratically elected to power, though there were incidents of violence between the two groups mentioned they by no means killed them all, silly fellow.
.
We see things, not as they are, but as we are.
Anais Nin
Your right they didn't kill them all they killed as many as they could and then drove they rest out of Gaza. I like how you try to brush off murder...or do you think it isn't murder simply b/c Hamas is democratically elected? Simple truth, Hamas has turned their guns on both Israel and Fatah.
Once upon a time the Palestinians were civil....how do you like that line?
.and once upon a time you might have been rational.....but sadly that time is past.

The world is looking for an end to this movie.
The greatest wave of anti-Semitism is gonna sweep the globe soon because Israel has been allowed to prove by killing innocents by bombing with assassination intent all the members of the official Gaza government... oh and don't forget anyone who sympathizes with a Gaza official is fair game too, that they kill in this method because they feel an Israeli life is worth a hundred Gazans or more.. the numbers are as solid as the bodies found anywhere in this senseless slaughter called "war on Terrorism" .... because the world now knows War is the worst Terrorism!
We have allowed the age old racket of War, the greatest crime of mankind to blowup our future before our eyes on the Tube... and wait till we get the check!
Oh and Bush who I have been tracking all my life (my nemesis) did not shoot JFK.
He doesn't remember where he was on that day (his excuse) but a lot of us knew about hits going down on JFK and I think Bush knew enough after telling the FBI about a false lead on JFK a day late and he says he is on his way to Dallas...
I think he changed his mind even with some photos of look-alikes in Dallas I think George decided to get back home to Houston and Barbara could give a minute by minute lowdown on their flights in Texas (leaving out the call George made to the FBI) and how they hoped and prayed that the lone killer of JFK was a left winger.
That is how the Cover-up works... folks like Bushes don't get their hands that dirty.... they just coverup any investigation that if happened they themseves would have to answer to the Warren Commission:
"Mr Bush, why did you call the FBI in Texas on that day and meet with Hoovers agents about the Cubans and Cuban attitudes about another invasion of Cuba.?"
I don't think anybody on CD would think that Bush could have got elected Zoo Keeper if he would have had to answer any questions about what he did that day, his CIA asset role the day JFK was ambushed by a paramilitary squad with deep cover.
We have allowed the Jewish mafia to terrify us along with the Wasp mafia who they are working with along with all the great american agents who gave us the coverups of JFK MLK RFK Operation Condor, Iran Contra, MK Ultra, the Bush Saudi connections torture and War is Terrorism all the while The secret game the government plays about everything vital to know the truth about is in operation.
Somebody asked why we are surprised that Obama is backing Israel... I don't think anyone on Common Dreams is surprised... If he hadn't backed Israel and got elected anyway...that would be the surprise!
It is time to take over the Jewish mob and kick the Nazis out!
It would be so simple for Israel and Hamas to make a deal for peace but when a nation is a prison under siege and in-accurate old rockets might be the last hurrah, Israel should feel lucky that the stupid rockets for now are the biggest boogie man that they are feeding.

Israel says Gaza assault 'war to the bitter end' White House blames Hamas for new Mideast violence
According to the article out of 315 dead - 51 were civilian,
Jeeez -
To swallow and follow, is a weakness still dominating the human mind.
I can assure you if Israel could change those 51 deaths they would...the militants were the only ones targeted.
.The point , the one you seem to miss or ignore, is that Israel killed far, far more than 51 civilians. It might be closer to the truth to note that they may have killed only 51 members of Hamas and all the other victims were civilians. The key to the post is the use of the word "spin". If Israel was as remorseful as you , in your delusional little attempt to make them the heroes, would have us assume, they would not use tactics like the indiscriminate bombing of apartment buildings and crowded neighborhoods. Reprehensible tactics, as are your attempts to whitewash the guilt they must forever bear.
.

Ah well every news source in the world is reporting that it was 50 some civilians and the rest militants...Gaza's own hospital spokesmen has quoted these numbers...try again.
.Every news source in the world huh? Thats quite a reading list you have, oh wait, you dont have to actually verify stuff, only prevaricate....Do you not see that your endless, tedious and stupid defense of the indefensible is forcing you towards ever farther flights of fancy.

Is there anyone left who actually believes that "peace" is what Israel wants? You'd think that after 40 years of occupation people would have woken up by now. What Israel wants is Greater Israel, which includes Gaza, the West Bank, and Golan. The Jews have waited 2000 years for it. What's another few decades?
Why should anyone have to abide what the Jewish god promised the Jews?
Besides, ever notice that the fact that the Jewsih god tossed the Jews out of Israel is never mentioned?
.Once again, this has nothing to do with Jews, or religion of any kind. This is all about the desire of the State of Israel to expand into more territory. This is all about the murderous treatment of a homeless and destitute people by a legally constituted government. This is all about a small minority of violent Palestinians, the militant wing of Hamas and the army of Israel fighting a war.
When you use such language you feed the fires of those who seek to justify this massacre by calling those who oppose the aims of Israel as anti-semitic. If you wish to understand what this is about read the first two posts above.
.

This most certainly DOES have to do with religion - or the weird conflation of religion and race that seems to define Judaism. Non-Jews aren't even allowed to own land in Israel. The one unifying motivation among the Israelis is their fear of ceasing to become a Jewish State if they allowed the Palestinins to return to their homes, shops and farms. If Israel would just give up this notion of being a "Jewish State" and become a truly democratic secular republic there would be peace tomorrow.
Conversely, the Palestinians really don't care if they have a "Palestinian State" - they just want their homes, land and livelihoods back. A one-state solution would serve them just fine - but this is anathema to the Jews, because they would lose their white, Jewish State.
Who is being unreasonable here?

What about land? Does Israel discriminate against Arabs owning land?
While often repeated, the assertion that Arabs cannot obtain land in Israel is based on misconception, error and outright invention. In fact, most of the land in Israel is government-owned, and it is equally available to all Israelis, whether Jewish or Arab.
History of Land Ownership in Israel
In order to purchase land for the resettlement of Jews in their ancient homeland, the Fifth Zionist Congress (1901) created a private charitable organization called the Jewish National Fund (JNF). Before the State of Israel was established in 1948, land purchased by the JNF was not resold but was instead leased out on a long-term basis to create kibbutzim and other forms of Jewish settlement.
After 1948 state-owned lands formerly in the possession of British Mandatory Authorities, together with property abandoned by Arab refugees, passed into the control of the new Israeli government. Some of this land was sold by the government to the JNF, which had developed expertise in reclaiming and developing waste and barren lands and making them productive.
In 1960 under Basic Law: Israel Lands, JNF-owned land and government-owned land were together defined as "Israel lands," and the principle was laid down that such land would be leased rather than sold. The JNF retained ownership of its land, but administrative responsibility for the JNF land, and also for government-owned land, passed to a newly created agency called the Israel Land Administration or ILA.
Of the total land in Israel in 1997, the Israel Government Press Office statistics say 79.5% is owned by the government, 14% is privately owned by the JNF, and the rest, around 6.5%, is evenly divided between private Arab and Jewish owners. Thus, the ILA administers 93.5% of the land in Israel.

I hope Obama doesn't follow in Bush' footsteps on foreign policy. Actually all we as commentators are doing is fiddling as Rome burns. No matter how much we rail against whats going on, it keeps going on. We will have to be as violent as the violent in order to stop this madness, and I am unwilling to do what the bad guys are doing. We are a country of laws. Unfortunately, while we are killing the innocents worldwide we do not have much of a pulpit from which to preach. Obama, if you can slip and slide toward Bush policies, then you can also slip and slide toward Kucinich ideas. End the war in Iraq now! Pull out and allow a multinational peacekeeping force inside. Stop funding the Israeli war machine. We are funding the genocide! That is a war crime! The blockade of Gaza is a war crime! We support Israel, we support war crimes! When will the law prevail? Who will enforce the law? The American public must be given the truth and not msm/govt propaganda. I hope we aren't forced to suffer fate of the oppressed in order to feel compassion for the oppressed, but "we the people" being herded in that direction.
Of course.
It has nothing to do with terrorism.
Israel is like the US. It wont take on an enemy it thinks can hurt it.
It was wrong about Hezbollah so you wont see a repeat anytime soon.
I really think its time for the arab countries to do something.
How many times they have promoted peace agreements and Israel has rejected them.
But you never see the regimes highlight this.
Even a few wealthy arab citizens can do something, just as the jews do.
Hamas should bombard the Egyptian border and force it open permanently.
While Israel is mainly to blame, there is definitely a lot that can be done to improve conditions for palestinians. Its a shame on the arab countries that they even allowed Israeli products into their countries at all.
I just think more can be done on their side.
This constant repetition of events is beyond absurd.
Zoya I believe it. Israel has been hit with rockets for weeks during the ceasefire. Now they are cleaning out the garbage. Good for them. If a ceasefire doesn't bring peace, maybe a massacre will.
"Now they are cleaning out the garbage."
Just like the Nazis cleaned out the garbage?
Goose go get educated, Read Haaertz and find out who really broke the ceasefire, you ignorant racist pissant!
Garbage!!!!????? Really Goose Step? Do you really forget that is EXACTLY how the Nazis dehumanized Jews within the lifetime of people still alive today? Of course I am supposed to believe that Zionism isn't racism, right? You really ought to slink back into your troll hole goose step you are actually damaging Israel's cause and any chance for peace by making such overtly racist statements.
Be gone foul troll!
I just love it when some Zionist fool like you makes an ass of him/her self---on and in a national forum, such as CD.
So, think about this "Zionist Nazi that you must be"----even if you kill off most of the Hamas, in sixty--or one hundred----or---- years into the "future"-----
fools like you, will give birth to radicals like me.
I live for the day when my people finally get tired of kissing America's "large white buttocks" and make war, once again, to free OUR FUTURE FROM ILLEGAL OCCUPATION.
Like so many other Zionist fools, you forget history (no doubt because you THINK you have that weak, insecure mean vindictive 'god' on your side) when the Germans decided to "massacre the Jews"---they left a few behind, and now where are the Germans?
If you and the Americans do not seek a "permanent, peaceful solution" you will have others like me (or even worse) to contend with---in the future.
Are you really that stupid?
The Palestinians did not "lay down" sixty years ago, do you think they will if you massacre some more of them now?
You only make enemies for your children's children when you shed innocent blood.
Good luck America AND Israel, you really need it.
You're justified in being upset and angered, but are you sure you're approach to this is correct?
"If a ceasefire doesn't bring peace, maybe a massacre will."
Oh, you silly little Goose 4! Don't you know, even by applying the simplist logic, that massacres never bring peace?
Goose,
The product of hate is merely more hate. The targeting of militants is one things but massacring the Palestinian people is immoral. It isn't the population but rather the leadership and members of Hamas that are criminals. 51 Palestinians (thats the number i've heard) have dead, that is 51 people who need to be mourned. The 300 hundred militants that died, while illegitimate target, likewise are to be mourned. If people who are monsters are still people.
I cannot in any way agree with cheering the dead. What Israel did this week is nothing to cheer, let it end as soon as possible, let Hamas see the result of firing rockets at civilians. Civilians on both sides suffer.
Goose your hate puts you in the same corner as Hootowl and that is no place a person should strive for.
Oh, what corner is that? I have risked my life tree sitting to save endangered Redwood trees, marched with oppressed gay people, was tear gassed for marching against Bush' war crimes at his 2004 inauguration, helped to successfully organize against the Coast Guard's dangerous and environmental damaging plan to engage in live machine gun fire training exercises on the Great Lakes, and have participated in more marches against Bush's illegal invasion of Iraq than I can even remember. My corner is the corner of hard leftists who fight for human rights for ALL people, who believes no particular tribe is "choosen" or superior, my corner is the corner that respects life and wants to see us ALL live is a sustainable humane fashion where ALL people a right to decent livelihood, shelter, and medical care. My corner is the corner of the Green Party, Noam Chomsky, and Amy Goodman.
How dare you disparage me and try to imply I am hater, how dare you! What have you EVER done to help anyone other than shill for blatant war crimes while you suck down your parents trust fund money as a poli sci student? I shutter to think what you will do with that degree. :(
.Of course he disparages, not you, but the truth, what else does this poor SOB have?

Schoolyard bullies ...
Americans are addicted to analysis of complex political situations using the highly-simplified model of 2 kids in a schoolyard, struggling over who's boss, who has "street cred", which one hit first and which one is to blame. Our mass media - print media but especially TV - relentlessly feeds us this model and uses it to train us like Pavlov's dogs to hate, and bay for blood on cue.
The situation in Gaza, Israel and the West Bank - in fact any political situation - is not that simple. It is in fact more complex than the human mind can handle: millions of human beings of all ages, occupations, status and wealth, political factions, ideologies, belief systems, plus mythologies that draw on thousands of years of history, all in a complex world context.
This is all way beyond the capacity of the human mind to coordinate. We need models to think with. Most people can with practice learn to think in terms of relationships between 4 or 5 different components of a model. Beyond that we need nested models. But even a model with three actors and their relationships to each other is a vast improvement on the 2-actor model. The 2 kids in a schoolyard model is static, can't evolve, leads nowhere (except maybe to another war!) Which is undoubtedly why the media keeps pushing it.
Complex thinking takes work - two bullies in a schoolyard is a much easier model to use - but it is well within our capabilities - all of us. It still involves simplification; that can't be helped. It requires fitting models to reality - also hard work, but necessary work if we are to escape from the thought-control masters, from their familiar but Orwellian world!
Think: Israel, Hamas, Palestine, America ... what images do you see? What emotional reactions? How about Moslem, Christian, Arab, Jew?
Try this: Gunmen. Militants. Terrorists. Strongmen. Militants. Extremists. Moslem extremists. Suicide bombers. Fanatics. Islamic Fundamentalists. Jihad. Hamas.
Feeling like Pavlov's dog yet?
Or perhaps for you it's: Zionists. Jewish Extremists. Settlers. Occupiers. Invaders. Defilers. Usurpers. Yankee Dogs! Israel.
Now do you feel like Pavlov's dog?
How about terrified children cowering in shelters and basements? Jewish children? Moslem children? How about children that don't even know yet whether they're Jewish or Moslem?
Go back through the list, slowly. Notice the images that come up, and feel your reaction to each word. And reflect on how glibly they have been used to mentally herd us around.
Now take a deep breath. Shake your head to clear your brain. And start doing the work of really thinking about this situation.
Gaza is under siege. That's a fact.
1.5 million human beings, men and women, children and babies, in what was once a semi-modern city, are cut off from the world, starting to starve, without clean water and running out of medicine. Their police force decimated, their university destroyed and their hospitals useless, they live in plain view of an enemy in the sky who rains bombs and missiles on them with impunity, without warning. Maybe 3/4 million children in misery, starting to die of malnutrition and disease, and 3/4 million mothers and fathers, uncles and grandmothers, watching helplessly.
And we are told that the real problem is that some of them are making rockets in their basements and shooting back!
They are Hamas, which is Alien, Bad and Wrong. Israel is Like Us, Good, Right and Justified. They are Bringing it On Themselves. We would be Reasonable …
Right.
Now let's get out of that mental schoolyard and leave the hot-button words behind. Remember ourselves as human beings. And do some real thinking.
Cheers!
Chris Horton

Goose4:
Perhaps you should sign "goose-step 4".
Your hateful rhetoric is not helpful.
Perhaps you like many knee-jerk Zionists have to continue to demonize and dehumanize the Palestinians (remember that until yesterday the "didn't exist"? that they were like cockroaches (Golda Meir)?) in order to silence your conscience.
No true humanist or believer can watch what Israel did in Lebanon or what it is doing in Gaza without horror and shame.
Israel can no longer represent itself as a victim or keep recalling the Holocaust as a justification for every so-called act of survival/self-defence. It is a shame, a blasphemy and an offence to the memory of the Jewish martyrs.
It is easy to slaughter people when you promote them all as terrorists.
zionism is racism.
Every day Israel grows larger and Palestine grows smaller. They were supposed to share the land of the "Palestinian Mandate" -it's now Israel 80%, Palestinian 20%
Israel and US preach a two state solution but they practice the creeping erasure of the Palestinian people.
People rebel under such desperate circumstances. Let's hope there is some power to get Israel to stop just like NATO stopped the Serbs from attacking Kosovo.
Dr Wu, the last of the big-time thinkers
dr wu,
Serbs attack Kosovo? Kosovo was a province of Serbia! It's cultural heart! How could Serbia "attack" it??? Serbia was fighting against a then-minority Albanian secessionist movement. The Albanians has exhibited considerable brutality, and the Serbians were responding sometimes in kind, but mo actual evidence of any actual massacres were ever found.
Over the years of the Yugoslavia breakup, far more Serbs were forced from their homes under violence or threats of violence than any other ethnic group - so Serbia could hardly have been the worst ethnic-cleanser either.
As far as the NATO attacks, please review your history! Start by googling the term "Ramboullet".
---USAn---
It is one thing to have a difference of opinion of fault between Israel and Palestine but nobody here would even try to shovel some garbage about how their is no conflict at all...that seems to be an analogy to what your trying to pull with regards to Kosovo...
Kosovo was a province of Serbia-the historical heartland-but it is no more. The Serbs did massacre the Albanians and for you to try to say otherwise is like someone saying no Palestinians did this week...Its beyond reason.
Yes some Albanians were violent but a systematic killing spree was launched by the Serbs and that is why Serbia lost a province.
"“In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The United States remains directly complicit in Israeli violations of both U.S. domestic and international law through its continual provision of military aid. The current round of airstrikes have been carried out largely with F-16 bombers and Apache attack helicopters, both provided to Israel through U.S. military aid grants of about $3 billion in U.S. taxpayer money sent to Israel every year. Between 2001 and 2006, Washington transferred to Israel more than $200 million worth of spare parts for its fleet of F-16's. Just last year, the U.S. signed a $1.3 billion contract with the Raytheon corporation to provide Israel with thousands of TOW, Hellfire, and "bunker buster" missiles. In short, Israel's lethal attack today on the Gaza Strip could not have happened without the active military support of the United States.
Progressives must step up to the plate and demand that U.S. move to put an end to the Israeli attacks on Gaza. Now is the time.
Read more about the carnage being infliced on Gaza here. Then act.

Unfortunately, what is happening in Gaza demonstrates clearly what happens when people 'Get Religion'. The normal savage instincts of human and their inherent love of killing is given a special aura because, well, god is on our side and we're just fulfilling god's plan for us!
Religion divides. Religion deranges. Religion is a fraud. Religion, too often, is used to whitewash evil!
What is happening in Gaza is despicable and should be condemned by every decent person in the world. Don't sit back and watch it happen, protest, contact your Parliamentarians, don't buy Israeli products, boycott Faux News (which is a mouthpiece for Israel), put bumper stickers on your car.
345 Palestinians have been killed so far and only 2 Israelis. This barbaric injustice and genocide by Israel must be stopped!

And, any Jews who indeed oppose Zionist aggression should be the first ones to take my advice. As a Catholic Leftist, I was the first one to make my displeasure known when the carillon bells of St. Joseph Church played the "Marine Corps fight song" for evening vespers on September 11, 2001.
In my city, the last time Israel attacked Arabs (in Lebanon), most of the Synagogues, plus the campus Jewish Student center all flew "Support Israel" banners. Surely, they wouldn't have put these banners up unless the overwhelming majority of their congregations supported the killing. I went to the largest synagogue in my city and got a big marker out and wrote my dissent on the banner. The next day the banner was down and a "save Darfur" banner (another favorite cause of the Jews - because the bogeymen are Arabs).

You like to deface private property...thats something to brag about.
I actually agree with you about something steelgray, a first ever. :)
.The worms in your head are showing....and by the by clumsy and stupid lies are unbecoming and give you a poor reputation. I have never, ever seen a synagogue flying a political flag of any kind, and neither have you. You seek to twist this discussion around to what is seemingly a hatred of Jews and not a love of fairness and justice.
