Far-Right Shootings Raise Fear of Hate Offensive in America
The killing of a black security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington last week was the latest example of a surge in extremist violence, as the election of Barack Obama and the economic crisis breed resentment in a fanatical, racist minority
A series of attacks by rightwing extremists has raised fears of a new wave of violence triggered by the economic crisis and the election of the country's first black president.
Since the inauguration of
Barack Obama this year a series of shootings have taken place, with
targets ranging from an abortion clinic to a liberal church and police
officers. The attacks have often been fuelled by a potent mix of race
hate and conspiracy theories.
Last week's shooting by neo-Nazi James von Brunn of a black security guard at the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC, a few blocks from the White House, was the most recent incident. Now many experts are worried that extremists will eventually take aim at Obama himself.
"There is now a worry that Obama is going to be a target. It is a really serious situation. It is simply because of the colour of his skin," said Heidi Beirich, director of research at the Southern Poverty Law Centre, which closely monitors hate groups in the United States. In papers left in Von Brunn's car after last week's shooting, investigators have already found anti-Obama statements. Von Brunn wrote in a note: "The Holocaust was a lie. Obama was created by Jews." Von Brunn, who shot dead Stephen Johns before being shot himself, is in hospital and has been charged with murder.
The shooting has sent shock waves through the US, but in fact it is the tip of an iceberg of incidents over the past year involving far-right gunmen or those inspired by conspiracy theories and inflamed by conservative media pundits.
Two weeks ago Kansas-based abortion doctor George Tiller was gunned down in a church by an anti-abortion campaigner. In April, Joshua Cartwright shot dead two policemen in Florida after a domestic disturbance. Police interviews established that he was "severely disturbed" that Obama had been elected. In North Carolina a former marine is facing charges after police investigating an armed robbery found a private journal containing a plan to kill Obama and white supremacist material.
In January, the day after Obama was inaugurated, a white man in Brockton, Massachusetts, went on a gun spree that killed two blacks. He also had links to white supremacist groups. That followed another shooting spree last summer in which an unemployed truck driver in Tennessee shot two people dead at a church. The gunman, Jim Adkisson, left a note saying he was targeting the church because of its liberal and gay-friendly outlook.
But perhaps the most disturbing recent incident involving the far right happened in December 2008, when police investigated the murder of James Cummings in Maine. Searching his house, they discovered literature on how to build a dirty bomb and many ingredients that could have been used to make such a weapon. Cummings, who collected Nazi memorabilia, had amassed four barrels of radioactive material.
Experts believe that the upsurge in rightwing shootings mirrors the 1990s, when militia groups sprang up across the US, often believing anti-government conspiracy theories. The election of Obama and the sheer scale of the economic crisis have now provided a huge boost to a movement that had appeared to decline markedly over the past decade.
"From the moment Obama became a serious candidate, you have seen a serious up-tick in activities and online chatter from these people... there is a push from extremists that 'we have got to do something'," said Professor Jim Corcoran, an expert on America's far right at Simmons College, Boston, and author of two books on the subject.
So serious has the problem become that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued a report warning about the problem in April. Though the report was greeted with howls of protest by conservatives, its central thesis of an upsurge in far-right extremist violence seems to have come true.
"The DHS report was not crying wolf. It was spot on," said Corcoran. The report said the economic downturn and Obama's election represented "unique drivers" for rightwing groups. It warned that "rightwing extremism is likely to grow in strength" and added that new technologies, especially the internet, made "it much more difficult for law enforcement to deter, prevent or pre-empt a violent extremist attack".
Another factor driving the rise in extremist attacks has been statements by some conservative politicians and media commentators, especially on the Fox News Channel and talk radio. Some of Fox News's most popular talking heads regularly accuse Obama of being a socialist or a communist who is a threat to American democracy.
Bill O'Reilly, who hosts a nightly show on Fox, regularly called the shot abortion doctor Tiller a baby murderer and nicknamed him "Tiller the killer". Glenn Beck, one of Fox's most well-known TV presenters, has even aired patently false rumours that Obama is building "concentration camps" for Republican supporters. "If you have any fear that we might be heading toward a totalitarian state, look out. There is something happening in our country and it ain't good," he said on one broadcast.
Those comments echo those of Republican congresswoman Michele Bachman, who has said that Obama is planning to set up "re-education" camps for young people where they would be trained in political correctness. Such outrageous sentiments, carried on a mainstream news channel, are potentially dangerous and could incite people to kill, some experts say. "It is dangerous. They are just promoting conspiracy theories in what is supposed to be the mainstream media," said Beirich.
One popular conspiracy theory is that Obama plans a crackdown on gun laws in America. The subject is a popular one among conservatives, despite the absence of evidence. It has led to widespread ammunition shortages across the country as gun supporters hoard bullets. The problem has become so bad that some police departments have even had to ration their ammunition supplies. It can also have a deadly impact. In April in Pittsburgh Richard Poplawski shot and killed three police officers he believed might be trying to take away his weapons. Poplawski, a white supremacist, had come to believe that Obama was planning a crackdown on gun ownership.

Show AllThat's awful. I hope it never escalates beyond the "gang stalking", and you are right: They are domestic terrorists. But, they serve the same interests as the extremist right so they get a free pass (or even funding). I find that one bumper sticker "Freedom isn't free" hilarious. I love how these people think THEY actually sacrifice.
Extreme right wing religous Domestic Terrorism is real.
It comes in many forms. I have been writing about gangstalking by the far rigft on this web sight for 2.5 years.
These right wing republican religous lunatics have been following me 24/7 for over two years.
When I put a sign on my car to support the election of President Obama, these ultra right torture freaks showed thier real colors.
I was surouned by cars covered in "Mccain/Palin" bumper stickers, fish symbols, " United we stand " , "Freedom isnt Free" , American flags, " In God We Trust" bumper stickers.
For six months up to the election in nov 2008. 24/7 warrantless surviellance of daily torture , gang stalkig style.
The Department of Homeland Security was correct in thier memo last month, but not very accurate of the fact that these nut jobs are highly organized and a nation wide entity.
They are truly Domestic Terrorists. And the DHS should hunt down thier leaders and sources of funding and crush them now.
I was mobbed where ever I drove by these Domestic terrorists.
It was absolulty torture and horrifying.
And they knew it.
The stalking still goes on today, but they have gotten rid of the bumper stickers so they are not so obvious, and they realize that soon the DHS will be all over them.
Thank my God , not theirs.
BornFreeMen
Torture Victim of Domestic Terroists right wing religous gang stalking torture freaks.
We should sentence this racist pig in the picture above to spend an hour a day with a jailed Black kid his age and size...give him a chance to act on his racism (wink wink)
Most people throw around terms such as fascist, with out much attention to the actual meaning.
D D Eisenhour warned us about the Military Industrial Complex. He *wanted* to say Military Industrial Congressional complex, but his handlers wouldn't allow him to do so.
Obama is an oligarch, and hardly liberal; but it would be difficult to find more than one or two in congress who are more progessive or less corrupt. Not anything good about that, but with congress all bought and paid for, there is a limit on what he can do, regardless of his intent.
"This stems from their own self-loathing and non-existent self esteem."
You are BORN A SINNER. You must BEG FORGIVENESS for being born into sin with a "soul" provided by a loving(?) "god". To me this was bullshit and illogical when I was five years old. Its still bullshit and illogical. Because people cannot understand creation or the universe, they make up a hateful but loving "god" as the source for everything. A hateful but loving "god". What a horrible thing to do to an impressionable child who is naturally inclined to believe the lies of adults.
Religion is the real culprit. No religious affiliation has amounted to a shred of common good anywhere in the world.
Christians as a whole hate everyone and everything. This stems from their own self-loathing and non-existent self esteem. (Tiny dog syndrome) Once they become a servant of their "God", they can commit acts of violence as an outlet for their inner turmoil. It's OK because it's "in the name of God". Once they have regressed to the point of self-extermination, they can claim self-rightousness and martyrdom. Since they are going to "heaven" (or some special dimension, whatever their book says) there is no need for self-preservation. Suicide by cop, suicide bombings, or Kool-Aid, they all eventually achieve the same result.
TheLorax,
"...Christians as a whole hate everyone and everything. This stems from their own self-loathing and non-existent self esteem."
Understood, with some narrowing down of your sweeping generalization. I'm not a christian, but please don't condemn them all by lumping them into one giant homogenous entity. They aren't. There is no "Christians as a whole." The group you are after are christian extremists just as there are extremists of every religion. The very people we read about/post against here use this same sweeping rhetoric to incite hate for ALL muslims/Jews/(insert non-anglo characteristic here) and this is preposterous. As we struggle for a government of moral conscience, I continue to hope that we can assert that same moral code to our own efforts.
I hope the FBI feels like the idiots that they should, for wasting wo/manpower and money infiltrating peace groups, instead of outfits like this.
No, they knew exactly what they were doing.
Just to keep things in perspective:
98% of wingnuts have no intention of actually doing anything. They mostly like their present situations far better than they like doing jail time. They only become ideologues when they're roaring drunk and want to talk big. Guns are for hunting and for pop bottles.
99% of socialists also have no intention of actually carrying out an armed revolution. They mostly like the rhetoric. It goes down well at certain drunken parties.
Finally, 99.9% of "Satanists" are innocent of the charge. Who wants to join an essentially nonexistent group? Christians are real conspiracy theorists about this sometimes. However, a few "Satanists" are heavy drinkers who only want to yank the crank of some particular uptight Jehovah's Witness neighbor. I knew a clown like that.
We humans want to see the absolute worst in our neighbors.
More DUH!

20,000 murders every year in the USA.
Why do TWO cause such amplified hand wringing and teeth gnashing?
Well, DUH!
And yet over and over again, I hear people say that hate speech and shock jocks have no effect on listeners. What a bunch of bs. I've never understood how people could even make the claim.
I too am getting particularly tired of this total irresponsibility on the part of the TV and radio press.
We did not get this when I was younger.
The reason was, I believe, that the FCC had "equal time" rules. Any "opinion" segment needed to be clearly labeled and then, if the radio or TV station chose to air that "opinion" then they had to make an equal time slot available for any opposition group to air a rebuttal.
This has a chilling effect on the kind of poison that Glen Beck spews for hours every night on Headcase News and on Faux News. The station execs do not WANT to just GIVE away air-time. Consequently they controlled such content. They didn't want group after group appearing with devastating commentary pointing out just how irresponsible they are being. ..... all given away for free.
I think Reagan removed that rule. And now it is used to incite right-wing terrorism in the USA.
Also, we should be using that word more and more often.
These people are terrorists. They are ideologically distinct from the Islamic terrorists, but they are terrorists all the same and should be labeled as such.
In the 1920's, 40,000 Protestant ministers belonged to the Ku Klux Klan. These nativist jerks have been with us since the founding. They are now the backbone of the Republican party, which has NEVER been anything but an organ for predatory capitalism. Hell, Lincoln freed the slaves to depress the price of labor for his precious northern railroads.
Actually, I think that's a difficult line to take given that Lincoln was only JUST starting the formulation of policy regarding the reconstruction when he was brutally shot in the head by a right-wing extremist. Obviously a problem that we have managed to overcome in our modern day (NOT!!).
I think you need to look more to the policies of Republicans under Andrew Johnson for that scapegoat. Indeed, my limited understanding is that Johnson was impeached largely because he too, like Lincoln, favored an easier peace than the rabid abolitionists and the disaster capitalists of the day wanted. Most of the big business wanted free access to the South so they could swallow up resources and prepare themselves for the day they could reap large profits. (No doubt using the newly freed slaves as a destitute underclass to keep real wages low...or even better, to make them loans and put them into effective debt slavery.)
I think it is a hard one to lay all that on Lincoln's doorstep posthumously.
Stupid. Article states/infers these morons could actually pose a threat to Obama?
Skinhead haters are incompetent could not coordinate an offensive in a flag football game, they cannot shoot, but are mostly afraid. Afraid of being seen for what they are. nothings
guardians kind of turning into a rag...
Stupid comment.
These morans could do a lot of damage on the way.
Your post indicated your mush has turned into a rag.
Wanderer. Personal insults say more, less, about the, it is spelled "moron," one doing the insulting than their target of the moment.
Instead of saying anything at all intelligent, you proceed to foul yourself further by adding to the misspell, "your mush has turned into a rag." This is w/o logic.
But who cares? Name calling is easier than making sense or discussing issues.
(Kid, I'm gonna get high on some killer pot I grew, you go drink another 40! Be happy! Life is wonderful tonight.)
Wow, another lazy poster who wants to be the Spelling Police.
I'm sorry, but I'll have to cut and paste from above:
"You could go out on a limb and check the link or something.
Then YOU can use the joke later, and watch the responding poster lose his cool.
You'll thank me for it."
"Wanderer"
Skimming down this thread, I see you trading bad vibes w/ 3 different people, telling them (not just me) their comments/they are stupid!
I guess you are an IQ cop? No. You are RedRick/ardee though maybe, that entity cannot stop itself from insulting others, and you are the same!
Yawn, in little rr's absence, the courtesy quotient rose on CD measurably,
Work hard, you can pull it down again. And, get thrown off CD AGAIN! Yet a-gain!
Yawn. And hey, it is spelled m.o.r.o.n. cut and paste it on your forehead, backwards, so it reflects correctly in mirrors. Help you memorize how to spell that tricky, mean old word.
And you can't spell moron.
And you didn't get the joke, Mr. Spelling Police.
http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/images/blpic-moran.htm
It just struck me as humorous that someone who can't even spell has the temerity to call someone else "stupid". Was that part of the joke, calling someone stupid? You are correct, sir. I do not get it.
You could go out on a limb and check the link or something.
Then YOU can use the joke later, and watch the responding poster lose his cool.
You'll thank me for it.
Strange - if these men were muslim they would be called terrorists. Since they are ostentatiously white and christian they get called extremists instead. Can't have christianity automatically associated with terrorism as we have so foolishly allowed islam, en masse, to be?
Sh@t, we've got, by far, the most Taliban types in the USA. Fox lies & propiganda, Rush, and Murdock, should be on trial for sedition or treason (and why not the whole current extremist Repugnant party).
The US Govt is pretty incompetent and thoroughly corrupt; but that doesn't change whether it a moron like Regan or Bush or a fascist like Bush 1 + 2, or wild Bill Clinton. Anyone calling Obama a socialist, communist, terrorist supporter, or a Jew supporter is a very dangerous nutter. And Murdock is getting wealthier by the second.
If anyone gets even close to pulling off an assassination or domestic terror attack; we should fire everyone on the top 50% of the payscale at the FBI and Homeland Security. (Maybe that last comment woke someone up, probably not).
I think we have 2 political parties in the USA, the Nazi Party and the Republican Party. To make it just a bit confusing, The Nazi's call themselves Republicans and the Republicans call themselves Democrats. Unfortunately, what passes for thinking by most Americans, is emotion, delusion, denial, and animal aggression.
The only societies that survive will be those whose natural resources can sustain their populations. No thanks to conservatives, the religious right, and the pope etc. etc. etc.
The greatest ever die-off of mankind may come sooner than most think. It won't be god's work, could be man's work, or probably the latter combined with basic Biology 101 and peaked reasources.
I find it curiously odd that of all of time, I seem to have lived at the peak of evolution. On reflection I'm not all that impressed. Though it's simpler to understand, if you realize that plants make food from the sun and everything else lives by predation.
George Evans
Bet none of the wingnuts posting on this thread, can even make it to the end of this comment, might be in danger of considering some rational thought, if they did.
"Anyone calling Obama a socialist, communist, terrorist supporter, or a Jew supporter is a very dangerous nutter."
Correct. He is none of those. He is a fascist in the vein of George Bush, Henry Kissinger and Zbignew Brzenski.
Sadly, you are correct. Just because he is black, the white supremacists project all sorts of identities upon his persona that just aren't true. He's the same old story, just in a slightly different package.
Grappa,
Are you nuts ? ban guns! The right has so many weapons , its not even funny. Are you suggesting that the moral left go passively into the night? I would strongly advise that people be able to defend themselves from the lunitic right.
"Grappa,
Are you nuts ?"
Did you get confused? You are Grappa.
Being a sock puppet is so hard.
Devide and conquer!!
Yep....that's the deal! Works everytime doesn't it? EVERYTIME. That's why it's used over and over. Works on the "left", works on the "right"! "LOOK OVER HERE"! "NOW LOOK OVER THERE"!!! "BE AFRAID"....really, really afraid. "Keep your eyes on each other"...not on who's pulling the strings behind the curtain. When messages are repeated over and over on the corporate controlled press....that's the clue.
Limit guns.
Ya, right, thats going to get rid of hate groups. Why don't we limit free speech so they can not publish their books or assemble at their rallys. Come on, are we realy advicating punishing every one for the sins of a few?
stupid response alert.
Shppard Smith on Fox actually tried to do a good job reporting the latest murder. He might just lose his job over it.

ROFL
Oh, my. That youtube video was hilarious! :-)
I try to watch fox news only because I like to keep up with what they are peddling but I can't usually stomach it for more than a few minutes. I've heard before that Shep is different. Is he actually worth listening to?
Oh... now Shep is a liberal.
Who would have thought after all these years of pushing right-wing cow dung.
In the face of rightwing lies, we scatter amongst our hobbyhorses.
bluepilgrim...I think you hit the nail on the head.
I think the hate groups get all the media attention
because they can do the bidding of those who want the peace groups out of the way. This article appears to be pure propaganda for the Right....Fear Mongering 101.
Proclaim Reich-wing Christianity as a terrorist organization. Stop funding these hate groups.
They ARE a terrorist organization. It says it right there, in their manifesto/constitution/Bible:
"Go through the city, and carry out a massacre! Let not your eye spare, neither have you pity. Slaughter the old and the young, maids and little children." [Ezekiel, 9:5]
"Kill every woman who has had sexual intercourse and kill every little boy, but keep the virgin girls to pleasure yourselves." Num. 31:7, 14

And that, sir, is the immutable word of GAWD-UH!!
THE ONLY HATE I KNOW COMES FROM USA GOVERNMENT !!
IF CHUCK NORRIS, JOHN MCCAIN AND THE TEA PARTY HELPS ME OVERTHROW THE US CAPITALIST SYSTEM, I WILL SUPPORT THEM !!
i have decided that i will overthrow the capitalist-system by myself, because in this apathetic society nobody is politically-active
i have decided to over-throw capitalism because cigarettes prices were raised again this week, but not because US gov. wants us to smoke less, but i suspect that cigarette corporations lobbied congress to raise price so that cigarette companies can make more profits
.
Let's see, the Republican Conservatives were outraged that a government report accurately identified the potential dangers of right-wing extremism in America. The Conservatives run the Republican organization right now. So it seems fair to conclude that the Republican party supports violent right-wing extremists.
Sounds about right.
Let's see, Nazi's ate bread. Republicans eat bread. So it seems fair to conclude that the Republican party supports the Nazis.
Sounds about right.
"Some of Fox News's most popular talking heads regularly accuse Obama of being a socialist or a communist who is a threat to American democracy."
Of course if Obama (or any "liberal," as we know Obama is clearly not) were truly a totalitarian or communist, then an order of his government would be to take Fox News and other hate mongering pundits off major airwaves. Fox led the media charge assisting in stolen election in 2000. The inflammatory statements by O'Reilly and others act as the spark in the tinder box of the extreme right.
If Thomas Paine helped create American Democracy then the Mass Media of today is certainly a major reason why we've slipped into fascism.
Those detention camps weren't set up by the left. It isn't the quakers that were spied on, or the teachers union who were called terrorists, who have been threatening peace and democracy and public safety. Obama is a threat to democracy, but because he is caving to the right wing too much. It wasn't so-called 'liberal radio' that helped the push to attack Iraq and go to war around the world, or trash the constitution.
The authoritarian/right has always been the major threat to people, society, and peace, but the mass media has been working overtime to convince people of the opposite. It's time those hate-mongers faced suits for libel.
"The election of Obama and the sheer scale of the economic crisis have now provided a huge boost to a movement that had appeared to decline markedly over the past decade."
NOW, what explains the marked decline? Could it be that these groups of violent extremists were so satisfied with the Bush-Cheney administration warring on Muslims, Arabs and Asians that they didn't feel an additional need to commit extreme violence in the USA? Or ... what? There must be some explanation, but what it is is "beyond me".
As for shootings of practitioners of abortion, this is nothing new. I don't know how many times this has happened in the past, but recall reading about actual acts as well as threats having been committed with regards to abortion providers ... quite a number of times; maybe even many times.
As for extreme violence in the USA; the whole history of the USA is of extreme violence, or nearly the whole history anyway.
This extremely violent historical and cultural nature of the USA, however, doesn't excuse violence being committed today; it never did and never will.
Otoh, the government of the USA knows about the groups that promote or preach acts of extreme violence and these groups could (and should) be officially declared criminal and terrorist organisations, with the members or known members monitored for any signs of not ceasing their activities, such as meetings, training "sessions", etcetera, put under arrest and, if needed, convicted and sentenced to prison; for a considerable number of years of prison. And once imprisoned they should not be all placed together, for they should instead be placed such that there'll be a greater chance of them rehabilitating, in order to [cure] them of what ails their minds.
The federal government came down hard on the Hells Angels decades ago and is aware of other criminal orgranisations or groups in the USA, so why not also come down hard, solidly on these groups, too?
As for conspiracy theories and theorists though, these people must not be all placed in one category, for there are very sane and careful theorists, who certainly don't incite or in any way encourage violence, for they are against violence and make it clear that they are. We cannot ethically condemn conspiracy research and theorisation blindly or else we'd be begging to be kept in the grotesque and irresponsible belief that the government, corporate chiefs, ... only tell the truth and only want what's truly best for us all, including our natural environment.
To be a conspiracy researcher is to be investigative, questioning, excercising an [individual conscience] that doesn't blindly obey the "masters", etcetera. It's about being on our guard, which is always important to be. What is wrong is like with other activities people do, the psychopathically insane are violent regardless of what their overt activities are.
I recall reading about a psychopath in the U.S.A. who was a hi-tech professional, perhaps in IT, married, had children, a house, etcetera, and during some of his spare time he picked up prostitutes on the streets in order to murder them. Apparently anyone who knew him wouldn't have known this about him. Did he have paraphernelia, propaganda pamplets, ... hidden at home or at work in his desk or in his vehicle that would indicate that he'd hate prostitutes even at all, or stronger evidence that would indicate he'd like to murder or kill them? I don't know, never having read that any such evidence was found, or not. Assuming none was found, this guy easily passed for an ordinary, law-abiding, respectful, loving, ... citizen with a wife, children, home, professional job, etcetera; but he psychopathically murdered plenty of prostitutes.
And I've read about other psychopaths in the U.S. and Canada, extremely violent people who murdered many persons and were finally caught. But I don't know that they were found to have had pamphlets or websites, whatever, that would indicate to others that these people were really criminally insane and dangerous; although, dangerous being to persons of particular groups, instead of general.
As for it being wrong to incite violence, hatreds, violent hatreds, ..., if the U.S. is to make laws against this, then DO NOT FORGET the professors who are pro-Zionist, anti-Palestinians, anti-human rights, anti-U.S. Constitution and international laws, treaties and conventions the government of the USA is co-signatory to, etcetera. If people hate Jews and plenty wrongfully do, then professors, "news" media pundits, etcetera, of insane, psychopathically insane public communications, distorters of truth, blatant liars, fabricators, ... may be (if not are) very responsible for the hatred unfortunately too many people have towards Jews.
As for white supremacists, like the KKK, f.e., and from what I read ... years ago, these people don't only hate or disapprove of Blacks. They are also known to hate white males with long hair, Vietnamese persons, other persons who are also non-white, Roman Catholics, and so on. Blacks evidently are the group most targeted, but their hatreds also target other groups.
Re. conspiracy theorism, again; don't blame this in blanket and therefore blind manners, else you better include Greg Palast and plenty of other recognised journalists, etcetera, and you better also accept to preach that everyone should blindly believe whatever the masters and their propaganda mediums, "news" media, tell us.
People over-generalise in their condemnation of conspiracy theorism, treating the topic in blanket terms. It's better to be specific, instead.
Oh, and Holocaust denial is NO crime when the person really believes that the Holocaust did not happen or that far fewer than 6mn Jews were Holocausted. It's then an evidently mistaken, but nevertheless innocent belief, and the sole correct solution for this is through [education]; not dictatorial-state punishment.
The marked decline is explained by 1) hip hop culture and 2) the recognition of evil so vile and pervasive that it targets everybody. People are starting to realize the financial dominant has plans to put them and everybody they know in a grave, quick as can be. So there is a growing unity of mind and spirit against the Oligarchy, the Fed and all their henchmen.
The recent uptick in gun violence has obviously been bought by spy agencies who have much history of purchasing terrorism and sabotage. Most of the shooters were probably directly paid and assigned a mission. Some might have been intently driven to homicide, especially those prone, stressed out gun owners manipulated by microwave weapons. All have been manipulated by agencies.
The museum shooter is a guy who should have been on a watch list for half a decade. You can't tell me he didn't do anything in the months before his incident to indicate he was about to go on a shooting rampage. He even wrote down who was on his list.
It's called a "Fund Raiser", when a spy agency commissions a terrorist act so as to defend a budget increase. As much though fund raisers are performed to enact power grabbing legislation AND to enforce DIVIDE as in divide and conquer. The people will think the legislation is about shutting down nut jobs when in reality it will be used to jail them and their kids and ensure total powerlessness against the government.
You got it right, Mike; the right lunatic fringe's marked decline after the election of Bush in 2000 was because so many on the fringes were so delighted that Clinton was out, and in their eyes the "battle" was as good as won. And naturally, with the 9/11 atrocity, these people had the opportunity to be "super-patriotic" as the country went to war.
Now they're disillusioned; the "permanent" GOP majority in Congress and the "permanent" GOP control of the White House prophesied by Karl Rove did not come about, and the "left lunatic/Communist/Socialist fringe" (as they see it) is back in control (never mind how totalitarian Bush and Cheney were; never mind how the GOP-controlled Congress sacrificed the country's economy to two open-ended quagmirish wars; never mind how the GOP mortgaged the country to China to pay for the wars and keep the country "prosperous" and themselves in power).
(Pausing to spit in disgust.)
Naaahhh...the real hate offensive is from the left, against Sarah Palin.
Idiot, so far not a single person has been even threatened with violence over Sarah Palin.
White idiots with guns and anger issues, however, have been particularly vocal about hating Obama and all other non-whites.
So get a clue.
I'm pretty sure he/she was being sarcastic.
Yup. It's always fun to watch people rabidly attack obviously sarcastic comments.
It is true that "It's always fun to watch people rabidly attack obviously sarcastic comments".
However, this person was probably serious. I heard Rush Limbaugh, a couple of hours ago, saying that "liberals are terrified of Sarah Palin...she draws 20,000+ crowds...this is not rocket science...we run Sarah Palin in 2012, and conservatives will take control of the White House..."
Yeah. They should run Sarah Palin (wink wink).
Sarah Palin? Sarah Palin! Wow! You think people are organizing against Sarah Palin! Is that who you're supporting against Barack Hussein Obama in 2012? I hope that's who the republicans choose to run. I could sit down all day and watch Sarah Palin winking at me and talking about her keeping an eye on the Russians.
Nobody's organizing against Sarah Palin.
silly.
Sioux Rose
Since America exports so much violence, it's natural that its karmic boomerang would head home.
I think it's more than merely coincidental that the U.S. campaign of aggression against Iraq led to 4 million persons fleeing that country, as compared with a resonant phenomenon: that currently over one million have been made homeless HERE thanks to corrupt loan/banking policies.
From the astrological perspective, Aries--the sign ruled by Mars, "god" of war, gathers intense momentum next May-June as two planets (Jupiter, with a 12 year orbit, joined by Uranus, the firebrand, with a 84 year orbit) enter to agitate its energetic field. I fully expect an uptick in violence and since this one points to something unusual or unconventional, domestic style militia attacks are more than probable. (That doesn't mean something unprecedented does not take place on a global scale, or in a region where such a thing was not expected.)
It just occured to me that since Jupiter-Uranus FIRST unite at the tail-end of Pisces, the sign of fossil fuels before entering Aries (late May-June 2010), perhaps some martyr-oriented group will set fire to the pipeline and cause a massive fire (Aries is a fire sign) as a protest against all the killing taking place to secure that vanishing resource, one that is linked to Pisces. It's interesting that the end of the Piscean Age appears to coincide with Michael Klare's predictions about the "End of Oil." There are wiser technologies that can be used that are not dependent on fossil fuels. Conservation has not been applied, and we know that the military has a HUGE carbon foot print, added to by meat consumption and the awful grazing of once lush Brazilian rainforest lands. Solutions must not be one-dimensional, they must take a variety of innovative approaches into account and practice to offset the addiction for oil and the lives taken in efforts to secure it.
Ummmm good luck with your "theories" crazy lady.
