WASHINGTON

ColorOfChange.org and Presente.org launched digital ads targeting two core groups of the Republican establishment supporting Congressman Steve Scalise: corporate donors and GOP staffers.Presente.org's ads call for the major corporations who fund Congressman Scalise and his SuperPAC to cut their ties. ColorOfChange.org's ads target Republican staffers at the RNC and on Capitol Hill depicting Scalise with David Duke and the KKK asking "Is this your GOP?"

By targeting both the funding and the staff that fuel the Republican Party during the RNC winter meeting in San Diego, both ColorOfChange.org and Presente.org are demanding the GOP confront racism in their own party, starting by removing Scalise from power.

More than 100 companies, such as, Google, UPS and Walmart have donated more than $3 million dollars to Scalise. These companies must end the flow of money to the once self-avowed "David Duke without all the baggage." Scalise and his ideas pose a major danger to all communities of color across this country.

Arturo Carmona, Executive Director of Presente.org said, "Scalise, the Majority Whip and third most powerful Republican in the House, should have no place in American politics. Scalise poses a real threat to the future of our country, and real danger to Latinos.

Yet, corporate campaign contributions from companies that employ people of color at high rates - like Walmart - helped Scalise keep his past covered and propel him to a powerful national office.

We demand that all corporate backers of Scalise and his SuperPAC withdraw their funding immediately. It should go without saying that backing politicians who even just dabble in extremist white supremacist organizations and movements should never find support among the countries largest corporations."

Arisha Hatch, ColorOfChange.org Managing Director of Campaigns said, "By refusing to remove Congressman Scalise from the number three GOP leadership position in the House, the GOP is admitting they are unwilling to root out racism in their own party. GOP leaders, staffers and donors need to take a look in the mirror and decide if a man who exploits racial hatred for his own political gain should be leading their ranks.

These ads will appear on the screens of GOP staffers at the RNC and across Capitol Hill forcing Republicans at all levels to confront the racism they are endorsing each day they refuse to stand up to people like Steve Scalise."
