Executive Director
Craig and his late wife, Lina Newhouser, founded Common Dreams in 1997. Formerly a community organizer and political consultant, Brown has managed many progressive campaigns, including the campaigns of former US Rep. Tom Andrews (D-ME) and served as Chief of Staff to Congressman Andrews. In 1991, Brown and Andrews helped co-found the Congressional Progressive Caucus . Brown leads the vision and editorial direction for Common Dreams.

Audience Engagement Manager
Moriah Brown is the audience engagement manager at Common Dreams. Prior to joining the team in 2020, she held leadership and educator roles at nonprofits dedicated to engaging communities through food. She is based in Portland, Maine.

Senior Editor
Julia Conley is a staff writer and senior editor for Common Dreams. Prior to joining the newsroom in 2017, Conley previously worked as a broadcast news producer at Al Jazeera America, on Bill Moyers Journal and Moyers & Company, and on documentary films focused on various issues, including the US opioid crisis and global climate emergency.

Senior Editor
Jessica Corbett is a staff writer and senior editor for Common Dreams. Prior to joining the newsroom in 2017, Corbett worked for Rolling Stone, The Nation, In These Times, and other publications in New York City and Chicago. She has fact-checked articles and books, including the Pulitzer Prize-winning Invisible Child. Jessica earned a degree in journalism and international studies from Ithaca College. She is a dedicated yogi who loves long books, live music, and adventures abroad.

Senior Editor
Jake Johnson is a staff writer and senior editor for Common Dreams. Prior to joining the newsroom in 2017, Johnson contributed to the site and other outlets as a freelance writer with a focus on the progressive movement and healthcare justice.

Operations Manager
Kim served as a Maine State Representative from 2011-2018. She received an M.A. in Public Policy at the Muskie School of Government and a B.A. in Communications from the University of Maine. In the 1990s, she worked with Craig Brown as office manager for Tom Andrews' Congressional campaign and later managing Tom's Capitol Hill and Maine offices. She later worked for an International Exhibition Company, overseeing conference programs. Joining Common Dreams from 2005-07, and returning in 2013.

Staff Writer
Stephen Prager is a staff writer for Common Dreams. Prior to joining the newsroom in the summer of 2025, Prager wrote and edited the Current Affairs news briefing. Based in Bloomington, Indiana, he holds a bachelor's in political science from Villanova University and a master's in journalism from Indiana University, where he worked as a fellow at the Arnolt Center for Investigative Journalism. His work has been featured in Current Affairs, the Indiana Capital Chronicle, The Limestone Post, and The Villanovan.

Jon Queally is managing editor and a staff writer for Common Dreams. Based in Maine, he has been with Common Dreams since 2007.

Staff Writer
Brad Reed is a staff writer for Common Dreams. Prior to joining the newsroom in 2025, Reed had been covering US politics for nearly a decade with Raw Story. He spent earlier years covering the technology world at BGR and Network World. In his spare time, he likes to practice piano, cook, and learn Portuguese.

Opinion Editor
Olivia Rosane is the opinion editor and a staff writer for Common Dreams. Prior to her arrival in 2023, Rosane wrote regularly for EcoWatch about climate and the environment. Her work has also appeared in Atmos, YES! Magazine, Dissent, Tree Hugger, the Trouble, and Real Life, among other publications. She holds a PhD in English Literature from the University of Cambridge and a master’s in Art and Politics from Goldsmiths, University of London. She has also published poems in Epilogue Magazine, Lucy Writers Platform, and on her personal website (Un)Nature Poems.com. Olivia is based in the Seattle area, where she keeps herself sane by taking long walks in a nearby park and watching the ducks, who have never heard of Donald Trump.

Staff Writer
Brett Wilkins is a staff writer for Common Dreams. Based in San Francisco after stints in cities including Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro, Brett joined Common Dreams in 2020 and specializes in issues of war and peace and human rights. His articles have been featured by progressive members of Congress, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, and his reporting on Palestine was used in the International Court of Justice occupation case against Israel.

Further Columnist
Abby has written Common Dreams' Further column since 2008. A longtime, award-winning journalist, she moved to the Maine woods in the early 70s, where she spent a dozen years building a house, thinning the carrots, hauling too much water, experiencing true if ragged community, and writing. Having come of political age during the Vietnam War, she has long been involved in women's, labor, anti-war, social justice, and refugee rights issues.

Lina Newhouser was an artist, political activist, organic farmer, businesswoman and proud, loving mom. Lina co-founded Common Dreams in 1997 with her husband, Craig Brown. Lina passed away in 2008 after battling non-Hodgkins lymphoma.
