Manage Your Donation

Thank you for supporting Common Dreams. When you make an online donation, a donor portal profile is automatically created for you. Through the donor portal, you can:

  • View your donation history and download receipts
  • Update your recurring donation, including amount, processing date, and payment method.
  • Update your contact information.
  • Pause or cancel a recurring donation.

To access the donor portal, click the link in any donation receipt email or visit giving.commondreams.org. Enter the email address you used when making your donation, and a secure login link will be sent to you. No password is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my donation to Common Dreams tax-deductible?

Yes. Common Dreams is a registered U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (EIN #20-3368194). Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. A receipt is emailed automatically after each donation and serves as your official tax record.

How can I view my donation history?

You can view your donation history through the donor portal at giving.commondreams.org. Enter the email address used for your donation to receive a login link.

The portal currently includes online donations (excluding ActBlue) made after October 18, 2023. For help accessing earlier donations, contact support@commondreams.org.

How can I update or cancel my monthly donation?

Most recurring donations are processed through FundraiseUp and can be managed in the donor portal. From your profile, you can adjust your donation amount, update payment details, change processing dates, or cancel your recurring gift.

If your donation cannot be accessed through the portal, it may have been processed through another platform:

  • ActBlue: Manage donations directly through your ActBlue account. View instructions.
  • PayPal: Donations made before October 18, 2023, must be managed through your PayPal account. View instructions.

As a nonprofit without billionaire backing, paywalls, or advertising, Common Dreams relies on monthly contributions for sustained support. Please consider reducing your donation rather than canceling it entirely.

I made a one-time donation—why does my bank statement show it as recurring?

Some banks label one-time donations as “recurring” when payment information is securely stored for potential future use. This allows future transactions to be processed without re-entering your CVC code, improving approval rates.

This does not mean you signed up for a recurring donation, nor does it reflect how Common Dreams processed your gift.

How do I get a receipt?

A receipt is automatically emailed after your donation is completed. You can also download receipts from the donor portal. If you need help, please contact support@commondreams.org.
