Comedian Reggie Watts raps, yodels for a green Internet

WASHINGTON

Of the many things we love about the Internet here at Greenpeace, the fact that it makes us laugh every day might top the list.

With the constant news about downers like climate change, ocean destruction and deforestation, a funny youtube video can be just what we need.

We figure you might be the same way, which is why we teamed up with the hilarious comedian and musician Reggie Watts to make four videos, using his never-boring brand of comedy to call for an Internet powered by renewable energy.

The Internet would rank sixth among countries for its electricity demand. Companies like Apple, Facebook and Google have committed to power the data centers that underpin their operations with 100% renewable energy, but others, like Amazon, continue to rely on polluting forms of electricity like coal and gas.

Reggie's the perfect person to help spread this message to the masses. As an internationally renowned comedian and musician whose work has been featured on The Conan O'Brien Show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, PBS's new Electric Company, College Humor, and elsewhere, Reggie is a true Internet sensation. We're proud to have him join the call to power the platforms on which his comedy is shared every day with renewable energy."

The movement demanding a green Internet is getting bigger every day. It's because of you that building a renewable powered internet is no longer a laughing matter. We know that you fully expect Amazon to become a green energy champion, just as Apple, Facebook, and Google have already done.

So heed Reggie's call at the end of these videos, and spread the word. We need your help to reach as many people as possible with this message. As the Internet lovers that you are, share these, tweet em, Instragram em, post them to Facebook and Google Plus, Reddit and more! We need as many people as possible laughing at Reggie's happily not-so-serious calls for a green internet, so that we can work together to make it a reality.

Once you've shared the videos, sign the petition calling on leading Internet companies to use the wind and solar power that Reggie yodels and raps about here. And stay tuned for more ways you can help push Amazon to join the movement for a green Internet later this year.
