On Wednesday, December 4, MoveOn members will be protesting at McDonald's locations in five cities - Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, and delivering a petition started by Low Pay is Not Okay on MoveOn.org's petition platform. The petition, which is addressed to McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's, and Subway, and has the support of nearly 50,000 MoveOn members, demands a $15/hour living wage for all fast food workers.

On Thursday, December 5, fast food workers across the country will go on strike, demanding that their employers - McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell, KFC, Pizza Hut, Domino's, Papa John's, and Subway - stop paying their employees poverty wages and starting paying a living wage of at least $15/hour.

In New York City, MoveOn members and concerned citizens will protest in support of fast food workers. The protest will take place at McDonald's on 1560 Broadway Avenue, Manhattan, NY at 12:00 p.m. ET.
In Chicago, MoveOn members and concerned citizens will protest in support of fast food workers. The protest will take place at McDonald's on 600 N. Clark Street, Chicago, IL at 12:00 p.m. CT.
In San Francisco, MoveOn members and concerned citizens will protest in support of fast food workers. The protest will take place at McDonald's on 235 Front Street, San Francisco, CA at 12:00 p.m. PT.
In Los Angeles, MoveOn members and concerned citizens will protest in support of fast food workers. The protest will take place at McDonald's on 4166 Melrose Ave, Los Angeles, CA at 12:00 p.m. PT.
In Seattle, MoveOn members and concerned citizens will protest in support of fast food workers. The protest will take place at McDonald's on 20227 Ballinger Way NE in Seattle, WA at 12:00 p.m. PT.
The renewed focus on wages comes after a report released in October revealed that more than 52 percent of fast food workers rely on public assistance programs to put food on the table or see a doctor. In 2013, the crucial stop-gap benefits provided to underpaid workers costs taxpayers an more than $7 billion, while McDonald's reported a profit of $5.5 billion.
