UN Investigator: Israel Engaged in Ethnic Cleansing

(Reuters) United States academic Richard Falk was speaking to the UN Human Rights Council as it prepared to pass resolutions condemning settlement building in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
The "continued pattern of settlement expansion in East Jerusalem combined with the forcible eviction of long-residing Palestinians are creating an intolerable situation" in the part of the city previously controlled by Jordan, he said.
This situation "can only be described in its cumulative impact as a form of ethnic cleansing," Falk declared.
Israel declines to deal with Falk or even allow him into the country, accusing him of being biased.
In a related discussion on Israeli policies towards the lands it seized in the 1967 war, Israeli and Palestinian delegates clashed over the recent killing of members of a Jewish settler family in the West Bank.
Israeli ambassador Aharon Leshno Yaar called on Palestinian leaders to condemn the March 11 murders of three children, including a baby, and their parents "without caveats or hedging" in Arabic to their own people.
Almost as shocking as the killings, "in the days following the massacre many Palestinians took to the streets celebrating the deaths of this family," Leshno Yaar said.
But Palestinian envoy Ibrahim Kraishi said the killings had already been condemned by the Palestinian Authority as "an act of terrorism" that was not part of his people's culture. "Rather, it is the culture of the occupying power," he added.
In his speech, Falk said he would like the Human Rights Council to ask the International Court of Justice to look at Israeli behavior in the occupied territories.
This should focus on whether the prolonged occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem had elements of "colonialism, apartheid and ethnic cleansing inconsistent with international humanitarian law," the investigator declared.

I don't even know what needs to be investigated anymore. It seems more than blatantly obvious what Israel intends to do vis-à-vis the Palestinians and the land that they occupy. One day this whole misadventure will be discussed in terms of the West Bank and the East Bank. On the one side we'll have the "whole" of Israel employing an unsustainable defense apparatus to secure its borders and on the other the dispossessed Palestinians vying for power, influence and statehood with Jordanians. One needs only to look at how the recent elections in Jordan were mired by tension between native Jordanians and migrant Palestinians to see that this is already starting to be the case.
There is no room for legalities when all pretense of international law has been thrown out the window from a steaming locomotive with no brakes that is careening towards a precipitous fall.
This ethnic cleansing is fully supported by our congressmen and senators.
I can never again vote for any of these genocidal monsters. Never!

I gladly will: The media are BY FAR the most powerful force in American politics. US mainstream media is almost totally controlled by Zionists. Should Obama fail to blow the proper kisses at AIPAC and Israel, his political career, along with his "legacy" and his reputation, would be wiped out by the media. The same is true for almost all our politicians on the local, state and federal levels. They have no free will. They are all puppets.
The power of AIPAC is MONEY. It is OUR tax money that is given to the state of Israel. Billions of dollars are sent to that apartheid nation and they send a bit back to buy our corrupt and immoral members of Congress. Nothing is more important to a member of Congress than to keep that job with it's high pay and benefits plus all the prestige amongst the other unethical people who live in our capital city.
Years ago there was a very popular Congressional Representative from California, Pete McCloskey, who said in passing, "I don't understand why we send so much money to Israel". Next election money swelled into his district to kick him out of Congress. All the other members of Congress saw what could happen to you and your safe seat if the AIPAC money flowed into your district to make you the same road kill that AIPAC made of McCloskey.
THe power of AIPAC is money and the stench of corruption in our halls of government. When we continue to vote for these immoral people of the two corporate parties we get just the mess we are in now. The members of the two major political parties are working for the big boys and have NO concern for the working people of this nation. Do you like austerity for the working people and tax breaks for the rich?

The UN has passed resolution after resolution condemning Israel for its actions. The "Security" Council members have veto power. Every time something like this is passed overwhelmingly, the US vetoes it, then sends Israel some more of its annual $3 billion tribute, taken from We the Taxpayers.
What is needed is to remove the veto power from the members of the "Security" Council, or better yet, do away with the SC. It was put into the UN Charter because the powerful "victors" of WW-II weren't about to be told what to do by a hundred or so weaker nations. If they didn't like it, they vetoed it.
Geez, where's the "honest broker" while all this is going on. I'm sure we'd put an immediate stop to it if we only knew!

The U.S. Congress will have to find time in its busy schedule to pass a resolution that denounces Falk and the horse he rode in on.
And, as usual, it'll get plenty of bipartisan support.

I read this article in disbelief, really dis-belief. I don't for one damn second allow that the UN or the US or any damn frenchman (i'm french) did NOT know all along what has been going on, by Israel against the Palestinians. There is no way anyone could be that stupid or that blind...except maybe the kid in the whitless house. It's just absurd. Better late than never that a M$M source such as Reuters actually allowed the use of the "ethnic cleansing" term, which actually describes what is happening. Unfortunately, all Reuters did was say someone else said it. I'm not holding my breath for Reuters to use its own investigative journalism to go to the East Jerusalem and the West Bank to point out the obvious.

Those of you who comment that Jews in the Middle East are busy stealing land and houses might do well to reflect that Jews do exactly the same in the US. Currently, vast numbers of houses are being "foreclosed" on by "lenders" that are on paper only, that had no money at risk, where the "paper" is dummied up with fraudulent signatures on "Assignments" supported by falsified notarizations, on Notes that were paid by credit-default swaps without subrogation rights that left only the paper behind, conveniently not stamped "Paid." The people doing this are a small group of about 3,000 living in greater New York City. They are the ones that did the great "securitization" fraud. To no surprise, every single one of the people involved is Jewish.

The number of comments made about each article reflects interest in the topic covered. Israel's treatment of the Palestinians is clearly not something most readers care about, regardless of the brutality and injustice evidenced. I would like to think that future history might reveal the truth, but reality shows that this will be probably another forgotten facet of the way propaganda influenced the play of power.
