Earthjustice Statement on New Allegations of Sexual Assault Against Judge Brett Kavanaugh

Incoming president calls for "real and fair" hearing for judge's alleged victims

WASHINGTON

Abigail Dillen, incoming president of Earthjustice, issued the following statement in response to additional revelations of alleged sexual assaults against Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh over the weekend:

"Victims of sexual assault across the country are watching to see whether or not our institutions of power can see them and stand with them. The new allegations of the past weekend underscore the need for a full and fair investigation that honors and respects the women who have shown the courage to come forward and tell their stories.

"Leader McConnell's suggestion that he will 'plow through' this process is a disrespect to every survivor in this country. The Leader should think very carefully about the message he is sending to young women everywhere by smearing survivors' stories and charging ahead with a process that shows no respect for them.

"We need to give Dr. Blasey Ford a real and fair opportunity to be heard. We need to give all of Judge Kavanaugh's alleged victims a real and fair opportunity to be heard."
