Top Interior Official Violated Federal Ethics Rules

WASHINGTON

Western Values Project's Deputy Director Jayson O'Neill issued the following statement in response to an Interior Inspector General's investigation that found that the department's Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs Doug Domenech violated federal ethics rules.

"The Trump administration's culture of corruption has seemingly trickled down to each and every political appointee at the Interior Department. Doug Domenech is a Washington insider and former oil and gas crony who clearly broke federal ethics rules and seems keen on accompanying Interior Secretary Bernhardt on his mission to sell off America's outdoor heritage," said Jayson O'Neill, Deputy Director of Western Values Project. "Sec. Bernhardt - the ultimate DC swamp creature - has turned Interior into his own personal lobbying shop; and with top political appointees also working on behalf of former clients and special interest friends, it's clear that his plan to sell out and sell off our public lands is working."

Western Values Project brings accountability to the national conversation about Western public lands and national parks conservation - a space too often dominated by industry lobbyists and their allies in government.
