New Poll: 61% Of Americans Think Congress Should Launch Ethics Investigation Into Clarence Thomas

Even before hearing latest revelations about Thomas potentially leaking Court information to Trump lawyer John Eastman, public supports Thomas probe by 36-point margin.

WASHINGTON

A new poll shows that even before new reports showing Ginni Thomas may have leaked confidential information about the Supreme Court to a lawyer attempting to overturn the results of the election, a strong majority of Americans supported Congress launching a dedicated inquiry into Justice Clarence Thomas' failure to recuse himself from cases related to the 2020 election.

In a national poll conducted by Hart Research Associates on behalf of Demand Justice, 61% of voters favor Congress investigating Thomas, while only 25% opposed it.

The poll also showed that voters believe Thomas should recuse himself from cases about the 2020 election by a 23-point margin.

The poll was conducted before revelations broke overnight that Ginni Thomas corresponded with Trump lawyer John Eastman and that Eastman reported to the Trump team of private discussions among the justices.

The poll was conducted from June 7th to June 11th. It included interviews with a total of 1,603 registered voters, including an oversample of voters in Senate battleground states. The topline results for the survey questions regarding the Thomases can be found here.

Demand Justice is a progressive movement fighting to restore the ideological balance and legitimacy of the federal courts by advocating for court reform and vigorously opposing extreme nominees.
