Senate Must Postpone Pruitt Confirmation Vote

“Transparency must be a bipartisan value”

WASHINGTON

With Scott Pruitt's confirmation vote expected as soon as this afternoon, Senate leaders just held a news conference in response to news that a court in Oklahoma has ordered Scott Pruitt to release thousands of emails from his time as Attorney General of that state. The senators are asking that the vote be postponed until the emails can be reviewed.

In response Earthjustice Vice President of Policy and Legislation, Martin Hayden, issued the following statement:

"If Senate Republicans are so confident in Donald Trump's pick to lead the Environmental Protection Agency, why are they trying to cram through his vote? Transparency must be a bipartisan value.

"We call on the U.S. Senate to postpone this confirmation vote until the American people have full access to all the facts."
