If You Want to Fight Cancer, Turn Those Pink Ribbons Green
I'm going to make a confession. I never could stand those pink ribbons. I've never done a "Walk for the Cure" or bought daffodils for cancer victims or even picked a cancer-cure-themed postage stamp.
I'm glad to hear that the Komen Foundation has bowed to pressure and is restoring funding to Planned Parenthood, a worthwhile organization if there ever was one.
But in general, the idea of putting the energy and effort of well-meaning citizens behind "the search for a cure for cancer" just irritates me, because let's face it, we know what causes cancer, and therefore we can do better than cure it, we can prevent it! Maybe not 100%, but we can take it back to the modest rates that previous generations of human beings enjoyed.
For my grandparents' generation, a diagnosis of cancer was frightening because it was so often a death sentence, but it was rare. Not one of my four grandparents came down with cancer, and I don't believe their parents did either. This isn't due to some genetic serendipity, it's just a fact that cancer rates in the first half of the 20th century (and every century before that) were way lower than they are now.
Cancer rates are skyrocketing now thanks to the environmental toxins that humans have introduced into our air, soil and water, and thus our agricultural crops, drinking water and the very air we breathe. Rachel Carson saw the effects of DDT on birds, and gave the warning just before she succumbed to cancer.
We may have removed DDT from the US market, but it's still being used in other countries, and here it has been replaced by a whole host of alphabet-soup chemicals, each one more potent and carcinogenic than the last.
If you really want to make a difference in the war against cancer, forget about those ridiculous pink ribbons. Use the power of your wallet and your ballot to insist that the government step up and do its job in regulating the industrial agriculture sector.
Or better yet, let's allow the specter of industrial agriculture to fade away into the dustbin of the 20th century, and start a real "green revolution," dedicated to the health and well-being of our planet and all her denizens.
What color is your ribbon? Mine is green.

Show AllThough not of breast cancer, I am a cancer survivor and have also concluded that the environmental question is paramount. I would add to it the aggression instilled in US society. The coerced denial of so many aspects of abuse by those enamoured of power is killing us. Our emotional genius is squandered and with it the engagement with exceptionally wise cultures being destroyed by the same powers.
Cancer is first and foremost a disease of ignorance. While initiating factors such as the continuing use of DDT should be eliminated, the greatest determinant of whether someone will succumb to cancer is not what initiates cancer, but rather what is present to PROMOTE it (determine that, following initiation, it will become a tumor and/or metastasize).
In the seventies, the single most virile promoter of cancer was identified. Any idea what that was? It is casein and casein is the dominant protein in dairy products. This discovery was made by T. Colin Campbell while actually searching for and expecting quite opposite results.
The findings of his research were shared at Harvard Medical School, the NIH, etc. without any criticism of the methodologies employed or the results obtained.
Some of this history is reported here:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1308977765978236346
It is an unbelievable tragedy that so much has been discovered and so little of that has been disseminated. But, there are powerful industries that stand to be economically destroyed (or outlawed) if the results of Campbell's research become widely disseminated and understood.
These industries include international food giants (Nestle's, Danon, etc.) as well as pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, many hospitals (or at least their most lucrative departments) (I hope I don't have to tell this group what that means regarding where the sympathies of the secret services and political institutions reside...)
Everyone should watch this lecture. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1308977765978236346
Then, please find some way to acquire The China Study. It can be purchased in many places cheap... but it is also available at most libraries.
Also, you can get the movie that is loosely based upon The China Study. The trailer itself even gives some good info: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7ijukNzlUg
If you fear cancer, have had cancer, or have watched loved ones die from it... Please, do yourself this favor: escape the general corporate induced ignorance, save yourself and after that, save everyone else too.
Truth be told, the real reason the ribbons should be green is that THC from cannabis has been proven to kill cancer cells, both in vitro in the laboratory and in vivo (do a search for Simpson's oil). The THC causes the cancerous cells to self-destruct while leaving healthy cells unaffected.
It is, of course, instructive to take a holistic approach to this issue. While environmental contaminants have increased tremendously over the last 3 generations (about 100 years) of which agriculture has played a big part, my sense is that typical American diet which has also radically changed in the same time frame is really the key to solving the cancer question and indeed most degenerative diseases. The effect of a diet laden with highly processed food - which is essentially dead food - and a diet dominated by animal products, has been well documented by scientists comparing the diets of different cultures. See, for example, http://www.forksoverknives.com/. Dr. Max Gerson (http://gerson.org/) confirmed as much in his life long work as a physician treating cancer patients with a vegan diet supplemented with fresh living vegetable/fruit juices (organically grown of course). His work confirms the notion that a non-animal diet based on fresh living food is the key to a healthy life and one that bypasses the epidemic of degenerative disease so prevalent today. Could the NIH do studies to confirm as much? Yes, but don't hold your breath. The type of change that represents an enlightened future can gradually be seen at the grassroots throughout the world today.
Dr Gerson also used fresh pressed calves' liver juice as well as ox bile and pancreatin tablets.. See "A Cancer Therapy, Results of fifty cases" 2nd edition, 1975.
Liver capsules and pancreatin are part of the daily regimine for those undergoing the Gerson Therapy. The dosage of liver capsules is 6 per day and for pancreatin 12 tablets per day. Pancreatin contains digestive enzymes that "are vitally important in the digestion and elimination of tumor tissue." Regarding liver capsules, " the severly toxic and damaged liver of the cancer patient needs maximum assistance to improve its vital functions. The therapy provides this help in the form of liver capsules contain dried, defatted, powdered liver from healthy animals." Note that the therapy is used for very ill people and people wishing to detoxify periodically. According to my understanding, the above is not a prescription for continual use. :) Also note that in comparison to the volume of juices consumed daily (10 per day), juices which represent probably in excess of 10 pounds of fresh vegetables daily (not counting 3 strict vegan meals per day), the intake of a few liver and pancreatin tablets amounts to a drop in the proverbial dietary bucket.
See "Healing The Gerson Way", Charlotte Gerson, 2009
Note from the Komen website that meat consumption is not even listed as one of the risk factors! That's how we know they are full of canal water. Anyone who googles breast cancer and meat consumption will find scholarly articles showing the connection which Komen ignores so as not to off-put contributors. This is a fund-rasiing cause, a salary-making cause, not a cause looking for a cure. If they had the courage to ask people to stop eating meat in order to save their lives, then their funding would dry up so they just keep marketing the icing while ignoring the cake; typical mainstream crap.
Excellent point!
All this time I was thinking all these nice gals were trying to be nurturing and now we get all this "Dirty Harriet" mess. Gee, I guess when I open my mouth to a "nice gal" I better pray she really is a nice gal or may the black God in Heaven have mercy on my soul.
"Don't shoot!" I really do think you're sweet and kind.
"I'm glad to hear that the Komen Foundation has bowed to pressure and is restoring funding to Planned Parenthood,"
From my understanding, the Komen Foundation didn't defund existing Planned Parenthood grants, so Komen didn't actually restore any funding. As far as future grants, all Komen did was take Planned Parenthood off its automatic inegibility list (which a Republican led Congressional investigation spurred), not promise it would actually approve future Planned Parenthood grant requests. Time will tell to see how sincere Komen's backtracking is.
Excellent point. So much has been done to poison the environment--air, water, and food supply--from nuclear testing to GMOs,and much more...
Plus the fact that the HPV vaccine has cervical cancer causing agents in it.
Natural news had the link.
Now they are pushing for boys to be vaccinated with the HPV vaccine, even though they do not have a cervix.
It is the environment, the BPA that is loaded in bottled water, canned foods, dog food, you name it.
Mammos actually cause cancer by women getting radiated yearly for 20 plus years. Plus the fact that if there is a tumor, it gets squished, popped and spreads.
False positive and you get invasive surgery to find out you had a breast cyst.
Do a search and find out who the Komen family really are.
Why people give to an organization that pays the administrators 6 figures or more is beyond me.
Both Komen and the AMA regfuse to consider public health solutions to health issues. There's more money in fragmenting it to the individual level. American doctors still refuse over 150 years after Semmelweiss to wash their hands between patients and this country has among the highest level of healtcare associated infections. It's that rugged Western individualism. I remember one orthopod who even went into set a broken arm wearing his cowboy boots with horse manure on them and he wasn't stopped. The patient eventually lost his broken forearm to gas gangrene.
Paul Erhlich in response to a question about what will get us first agro/pharm/industrial poisons or global warm replied that the agro/pharm/industrial poisons will get us first.
Numerous writers warn us about our cultural blinders. Jared Diamond in Collapse, John Reader in Man on Earth nad Charles Fishman in The Big Thirst. Fishman in chapter 8 of his book writes about India "Where Water is Worshipped but Gets No Respect." In this country the outdoors are worshipped but get no respect.
Komen rakes in over 400 million per year. How much are each of their top 10 officers paid?
Gal, how come you don't like pink? It reminds me of nice gals. What's so bad about nice gals. Green's OK too. But what this aversion to pink?
Of course people at the top in this outfit shouldn't just be in it for the money.
I'm sick and tired of this. Somebody won't let me comment in praise of nice gals. Hell! It's downright unAmerican in the best sense of the word. Think Franklin D Roosevelt and HenryWallace or Paul Robeson and Pete Seeger and all like that.
"There's more money in fragmenting it to the individual level. American doctors still refuse over 150 years after Semmelweiss to wash their hands between patients and this country has among the highest level of healtcare associated infections. It's that rugged Western individualism."
This is a very interesting point. Now that I think about it, I don't believe that US primary care doctors, for example, travelling around the office from one patient to another, typically wash their hands between touching patients. Between surgeries, certainly.
Is this typical in other Western countries?

YES! i sure like the green ribbon idea and not just that pink has never made my list of favorite colors. we watch the politicians argue incessantly about who has the best plan for improved healthcare while the public remains blind to alarming statistics from childhood asthma, diabetese to cancer whlile acting as if environmental issues do not relate. big pharma and insurance companies get richer and richer as we struggle to live robustly in a sick-o atmosphere. politics is a game of divide and conquer making it improbable for a beltway player to connect the dots. we the people can and must outsmart these tunnel vision pundits.
p.s. OLD GOAT, so very glad you made it through with your body and brain intact, "the environmental question is paramount"!
As the writer's piece implies, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure debacle has greatly trashed that Dallas-based organization's luster to a great extent. There is now a great opportunity for progressives to put forward & / or revitalize their own charitable efforts that the nearly ubiquitious Komen had been hogging media space in recent years (their greatest success was in their branding, certainly not in bringing down breast cancer rates). Komen had also provided a PR sanitizing effect to many companies who's bad behavior contributed to cancer rates in the general population. It is now incumbent upon progressives to seize on this self-imposed wound that Komen did to itself and make sure this corporate PR sanitzing shop never regains the prominence it once held.
The naive faith in "the power of your wallet and your ballot" is no less ridiculous than the pink ribbons are.
Yes, "cancer rates are skyrocketing now thanks to the environmental toxins."
I think when we run out of fossil fuels, we'll be rid of cancer. That is, unless conservatives get us further into nukes.
Well, duh! Thanks Jennifer for bringing the focus back to the real causes of the cancer epidemic. The good news is that we can do something about addressing this epidemic not by contributing to foundations like Komen whose executives make enormous profits but by changing our own lifestyles and making better decisions about what products to buy.
What air will you be buying?
Good article. I have had two skin cancers (one in situ melanoma). Colon cancer claimed the lives of both of my grandmothers and an aunt after each elected to go through the conventional "cut, slash and burn" treatments. My aged mother has had breast cancer for several years, but chose not to deal with the allopathic medical establishment.
Not only is cancer a huge environmental issue, but it is also big, big business. It may kill a lot of people, but some other people are getting very, very rich. Not unlike that other cancer -- war. Down with pink and yellow ribbons. Green is better, though, given the extent of political corruption, I agree with Two Americas on the futility of wallets and ballot boxes to make a real difference.
even the idea of "prevention" as a solution to cancer is insufficient. it is far more often the case that people act out of the desire for certain outcomes than the avoidance of outcomes, given that there is actually a delicate balance going on.
with food, for example. what drives food choices? taste mostly. affordability and convenience. health benefits from higher quality (organic) or eating lower on the food chain are in there as well, but at a much lower level.
what drives our lifestyle choices? there is an assumption that people are powerless to do anything about the problems "out there" all the while driving everywhere and consuming/wasting the resources so mindlessly extracted from somewhere else.
the balance of power needs to shift. we need to reclaim the sense of authority and responsibility we have relinquished, ceace playing the victim and act out of a profound respect for our own and the planet's well being.
even a healthy lifestyle will not guarentee prevention of disease. diminish the liklihood, maybe. but our lives are more about the creation of certain possibilities and less about the avoidance of others.
I agree. The pursuit of disease cures without addressing their causes is like putting out house electrical fires while ignoring the fact that most of the houses have an inherent wiring problem that causes the fires.
It will require regulation of industry on a mass scale: agriculture, nuclear power, coal power, mining, manufacturing, increased efficiency in all aspects of energy use, etc.
Forcing citizens to sue corporations to prevent wrongful practices is ridiculous. The The EPA and FDA, for instance, should have stronger authority to regulate industry and should not be allowed to hire from within the industries they regulate.
If everything is framed by warriors (i.e. the uber advocates of the make-war state), and thus everywhere war is being silently declared on some substance, person, place or living being... then the advocates of this anti-life system probably anticipate the inevitable rise in cancer rates.
In the same way that these moral blackholes sell arms to both sides in any likely conflict (while also funding "both" parties as they fight for the illusion of dominance in the U.S. electoral machine), this ilk likely believes that society's "winners" will own the ($) means to protect themselves from cancer by having the funds to finance a cure. And hell to the rest, mere collateral damage, all.
Disaster Capitalism is like a massive tributary gushing towards M.A.D. and End Times all rolled into one horrific current. Driving its three-prong deadly agenda are a number of sociopaths who earned their career bona fides in demonstrating an abject hatred for human life all along. Wired like Pavlov's dogs to salivate over words like "winning," the premise itself means nothing in a world left to ruin, a once thriving paradise reduced to parking lots, oceanic dead zones, and fields full of unexploded ordnance.
Those who survive the chemical war on living beings, the financial war on public workers, and the various and sundry overseas war (added to their chemical fall-out carried on the great winds) will, as RDRURY so often comments, have to re-learn the art of localism, merged into an ethos that will draw upon The Collective Consciousness in its need to tap into the ways our Indigenous Ancestors long ago lived.
Meanwhile, the powers at the wheel are hurling us all towards the abyss. And none of them know how to stop, think, reflect, or even say, "I'm sorry." It's just "Drive on! Pay no attention to that cliff ahead!" YOY.
Watch for falling debris!
So true. I may be naive to think we have any possibility at all of turning things around via "wallet or ballot," but any agitation at all seems preferable to staying quiet in the back seat and waiting for impact.
See my blog column today, "Planetary Superbowl," for some thoughts on what I think is needed to get human society moving in a saner direction:
http://bethechange2012.wordpress.com/2012/02/05/planetary-superbowl/
To the Bahai Faith, the teacher is one of the top life "callings." Like you, I believe in teaching; and it occurred to me years ago that the most powerful media for shifting minds and awakening a higher level of consciousness is film. So I have been writing movie scripts since the late l980's. All of them are directed at Progressive Ideals; and while no writer is necessarily an accurate judge of their own craft, I think the plot lines I've devised faciliate the transmission of these high-minded ideals. I am about to begin a comedy. Hollywood tends to reinforce the status quo, and has thus far bypassed all my works. Plus these days, it's got Pentagon funding to make all the bang bang high tech "toys" look sexier and more worthy of the public's tax paying dollars than ever.
Last night I watched "The Color Purple," as I haven't viewed it in a long time. It was quite shocking to witness the degree to which newly emancipated Black fathers and husbands routinely abused the women in their lives... thus echoing the wounds of Hierarchy. Of course observing the triumph of Whoopi Goldberg's character, finally amassing the power to stand up for herself, was gratifying; and it took place because of Sisterhood. The women lent power, love, and support to one another... while each had been violated by a father or husband. There are a few women posters on C.D. who are clueless as to what Sisterhood means... as if the need for it is out-dated, or that it's a passe premise whose time has long passed.
Just as the spirit of the l960s planted something in the way of the Seeds of Renaissance, so, too, did the Feminist and Civil Rights movements. The younger generations are more open to ideals of equality because this "cerebral territory" is no longer alien. The consciousness has taken root. There will always be a percentage of citizens born, it seems, to retard progress. Since experience qualifies as the best, if least forgiving of teachers, what will stand in the wake of the rabid ecocide, economic heists of unimaginable proportions, and senseless wars will prove quite an Education to those who do survive. They will design what is next... borrowing from what worked best (Riane Eisler would term that the Partnership Society, and our forum's "Shadow Dancer" would equate it poetically with how The Tribes previously lived) in the past.
Thank you for so generously entering the forum to interact with readers and fellow thinkers, activists, and visionaries. Our efforts are akin to the Seeds earlier mentioned.
The entire family sytucture in the Congo was destroyed by the Belgian presence there and King Leopolds desire for rubber and gold. It now several generations later and it has still not recovered,
Here In Canada we destroyed the family structure of our First nations people and some really think it something that can be rebuilt in a single generation and are incredulous that children on reserves would commit suicide or sniff gas. "where are the parents?" they cry as they blame the victim.
Once equality is destroyed and family structure destoyed it takes years and years of struggle to restore it. It akin to that curse that extends for seven generations. The repercussion of Injustice affects a society far into its future and those that REFUSE to acknowledge the injustices of their nations past and work to correct them will forever be cursed with injustice.
Those awakenings like we experienced in the 60s or happened during cycles of time in the past are like humanking being given a peek into what we should be aspiring towards. They are akin to a door being briefly opened in a room that us utterly dark and then closed again wherein while many head towards that light as soon as the door closed once more they are lost.
From jbrowdy's blog "Planetary Superbowl":
>>"If we could get fans to analyze climate and biodiversity statistics the way they analyze the minutia of sports wins and losses, what a brain trust we could call upon to solve the pressing environmental problems of our time!"<<
You know, this is **exactly** what I've been saying lately when I feel frustrated that not many people understand the importance of things like an upper limit on greenhouse emissions and why it is critical to have a meaningful international treaty that would force countries to choose energy use pathways that would "cap" the emissions to some level as required by science. Without such a "cap" and without lowering this upper limit aggressively for the next several years, and without planting trees like crazy and without stopping any further deforestation, how are we to achieve a "safe" level of atmospheric CO2 concentration, and that too, soon enough to avert disaster?
My frustration comes from watching people even right here on this "progressive" forum reluctant to face or indifferent to the utter criticality of having an international treaty that imposes an upper limit on emissions of all countries. That is just one example of what happens when not enough thought is given to such a crucial issue. And there are a few critical issues that require a bit of attention and thought. And these are NOT beyond the scope of understanding by regular folks - especially those who can follow the "intricacies" of a corporate sporting event and the statistics and winning prospects of teams in a league, year after year! But the catch is that there are only 24 hours in a day. Time spent watching a football or a hockey game is time NOT available to something that is critical for the future of humanity.
The author is only partly right. The majority of the increase in western diseases -Cancer, Heart Disease, MS, Bone Diseases and Diabetes etc. is the increase in animal protein in the western diet. Casein, the protein in milk products is the worst.
If you believe that smoking causes lung cancer then the evidence in the China Study by T.Colin Campbell collected over decades and peer reviewed is equivalent.
Note also that although China smokes more cigarettes than any other country per capita yet the incidence of lung cancer is far lower.
Genetics makes up only 1-3 % of the equation, it takes animal protein to express western diseases, including environmental toxins at the levels most receive them.

In this climate that grants a free pass to so many trespassers, imagine the difficulty of attaching cause to any one factor, or proving its culpability "beyond a reasonable doubt" in a court of "law." (Law was put in quotes because as Chris Hedges recently related, we are a post-law nation now.)
No civilization that values life or sees the Earth as The Great Mother could possibly do to its own nest what has been done. Nor are any signs of meaningful course correction in place. Even in this forum, people argue about politics 10 years down the line AS IF we necessarily have another ten years before ALL systems collapse.
In my new book Dolphinity, a shaman tells a small group of California truth-seekers, "You will not be able to heal yourselves until you heal the planet."
Indeed.
It's all connected. Genetic defects will be likely to future generations raised on artificial food fillers, and immersed in a dangerous chemical soup.
Better Living Through Chemistry is not a fact.
You left out the stress and depression that can act as a catalyst or force multipler in encouraging human disease after the realisation/effect of what's in your list and any others that might come to mind. It's enough to make most give up.
You're quite right, Sanctuary! How could I leave out stress. I could run a franchise in it! And I don't recall if you're the only source, but I've heard that title (The China Syndrome) enough to make me want to pick up the book. I've learned about, purchased, and read a number of books recommended by persons on this site. Gracias. I do my part to share worthwhile titles, too.
GW NORTH: Very astute and humane comments regarding the way outsiders break up a cultural unit, and then the pieces fall into disarray amongst themselves.
I prefer to think of the 60's as the "audition." It's not always the first tidal wave that acts as the most intense tsunami. These shifts in the foundation template occur in waves. The 60's, like a 2nd or 3rd wave, served as a prelude. If humanity survives the acceleration of climate changes that will turn every day life (for many) into Live Action Sci Fi, then the Aquarian Age factor will do its part to bring about communal living arrangements, these based on The Circle, or partnership (rather than dominator) model.
I am sure of this. However, the Transition between that New World Made Possible and where we are now is not unlike the painful pangs of a laboring Mother in the process of giving birth (to what's next).
I suggest you read The China Study because your statement "imagine the difficulty of attaching cause to any one factor" is mostly addressed in that very readable book. Nothing is 100% in any research study which is how Big Lobby is able to sell obfuscation for expediency.
Big Pharma looks for anything of benefit over 50% so high 90% research results should be unimpeachable you'd think. Not by Big Food Lobby though if it isn't in their interest. And they are expert at bought smear.
Colin Campbell seems a very genuine ethical person who is not selling anything other than what he perceives as truth. He's not after money or, at his age, fame. You can read everything he has to say for nothing if you can borrow the book . He grew up on a dairy farm and eventually reversed his beliefs on protein because he could not ignore the data that he and others were seeing. His papers are all peer reviewed. His book has little dietary advise beyond eating plants rather than animals. He is not concerned with small amounts of the latter at a nutritionally insignificant level. His publisher said his book would not sell unless it was a diet book. The publisher was wrong.
Campbell has the academic credentials, he has decades of research experience (notably the study of Aflatoxin in peanuts/Liver cancer study on children in the Phillipines plus the wealth of data from the studies collected in China.
The survey in the 70's involved 650,000 survey workers and 96% of China's citizens at that time. Sure there's doubt but he is a seasoned researcher who has worked with scientific statistical data all his life and he is always looking at the big picture.
Cut him and yourself some slack and read his book. You might learn something.
Siouxrose, you left out the ubiquitous electromagnetic radiation from various sources.
That said, I totally agree with "Sanctuary"'s posts. It bothers me to no end to see that such an obvious area for investigation and action has for so long been neglected at such a heavy cost to the individual, society and nature!

The some of your words are true CONNECTION, ONE could almost thouch that collective CONSCIOUSNESS OF THE MOMENT with bare hands.
Grandma's strawberry Jam is conserved only for few months, than its consumed into the corridors of evolution. Nothing else is conservative accepting transformation one of our greatest challenge if we are to move on, but not a la monsento, experimentation on billions of human being & other life forms is absolutly not THEIR choice to make.
You make those moments of transition sublime & real, warning echoes, dreamlike awaknings but authentic & visionary at the same time.
We need MORE than just a change.
As for that soup of horror it needs transformed chefs, new utensiles, healthier recipes, freindly work place, caring connections, where everyone is a leader in their own right, where the onion, the carrot & the patoto are equally free, creative but ethical in the role they play, they don't have to be part of the SAME DISH for fourty years, they are different in the path they embrace & journey they take, different in the their contributions & flvours. wether they choose to be organic or modified, THEIR CHOICE, THEIR HEALTH THEIR WEELBEING paramount.
In fact I have no doubt that my right as a mother or father should be sacro-saint to CHOOSE whether my child will be genetacally modified or not, simply through consuming GENETICALLY MODIFIED PRODUCTS, and if Im happy to EXPERIMENT ON MY KIDS, than its my choice.
The same goes for utensils the bowl and the frying pen & all life form for that matter living or otherwise for ALL IS CONNECTED in that kitchen & beyond.
After the assault on Iraq we know today much more about the umbilical cord between governements and CORPORATIONS.
WHO IS THE CHIKEN? & WHO HAS BECOME THE EGG?.
VARIOUS FINNANCIAL & BANKING INSTITUTIONS, MENSENTO, BP, HALLIBURTON, BLACKWATER, LOCKHEED, ALL ARE OPERATING WITHOUT ANY LEGAL, ETHICAL, OR MORAL PREREQUISITE, MANDATE, OR RIGHT OF PASSAGE, NON WHATSOEVER. As far as WE know, as far as OUR eyes have witnessed, they are OPERATING IN UTTER ILLIGALITY in IRAQ, they are operating ON A CRIME SCENE.
It is now the new TEMPLATE of our new conscioussness OUR NEW MANUFATURED CONSENTING TEMPLATE. A f...... STAMP A BRANDING ON OUR FOREHEAD OF HOW THINGS MUST BE DONE from now on. Every nation must go on the frying pen of the colapsing empire & its new found world order made of psychopatic CEOS, GENERALS, CORPORATE LOBBIES & A MUTITUDE OF HIDDEN HANDS, the 1% & last but not least A GRAND JURY the little mad chefs, the MODERN TIMES CLAN without hoods they'll even throw in a black face to swing with the times, verses COURAGEOUS JULIAN ASSANGE and the million other Assanges, U BET THERE IS A CONNECTION BETWEEN MY SOUP & THE INVASION OF IRAQ.
Seven Years for Iraq, seven months for Libya, we are hoping seven weeks for Syria, perhaps seven days for iran just enough to cripple that SHITTY nation, EXPRESSION used by NIXON decribing VIETNAM & NUKE IT, NIXONS WORDS. In fact the war with China has already started.
For the few mad chefs that option is last, perhpas when paying once debt is no longer an option. Not because they planned it but because CAPITALISM HAS NO VISION, something about a corporation being a personne, its the hair in that soup, that genetically modified hair & soup.
No corporate Terror No state Torture just Truth.
I'm pleased to see so many references to T. Colin Campbell's "The China Study". However, earlier references to casein are only part of the picture, so before just taking casein in dairy products out of the diet, I do encourage people to read the book thoroughly and carefully. And if afterwards you decide to change your diet and are having difficulty making the transition, just watch at PETA film on animal slaughter practices, it makes it easier.
It is customary today for those concerned about the health and the environment to blame cancer and all other health problems on toxins and contaminants in the environment. It is easier than facing the necessity of changing one's eating habits. Most people's knowledge about pesticides and toxins comes from newspapers -- which are a very poor source of scientific information. For example, many people believe that DDT is still being used in the US, when in fact laws passed back in the 1970s phased out their use and they have not been legally used in the US for many, many years. And for as many years now, pesticides (EXCEPT for pesticides used by by organic growers--and yes they can legally use certain ones) are thoroughly tested for their propensity to cause cancer, tumors, affect reproduction,, etc. etc. Just as a number of foods contain naturally occurring carcinogens (coffee has 50 some) yet can be consumed safely (coffee has even been found to be protective of colon cancer), in general, pesticides used in the United States today in accordance with the label do not pose a significant cancer risk. And those who apply pesticides to agricultural crops in the US must be licensed by the states and pass state examinations to ensure they know how to apply them legally. If one is going to seriously consider health effects of toxins, then it is far more likely to find people exposed to them in their own homes, where paranoia about insects and disease organisms is paramount for many modern homemakers and they don't tend to read labels on household products. (If they did, we would never her about people getting sick and/or dying from combining ammonia and bleach.)
If we are to get a handle on the drastic increase in cancer, we need to stop sending money to cancer research organizations like the Susan Komen foundation and the American Cancer Society and recognize that they are primarily interested in perpetuating themselves: After all, if they were to find a "cure for cancer", they would put themselves out of business--and out of jobs. We need to start sending that money to organizations that are studying dietary components and/or getting the word out on the lethal effects of the American diet. AND we need to get healthier foods into our school breakfast and lunch programs and get rid of the national food program standards that permit junk food to be fed to our children--like "breakfrast pizza".. We also need to beware of the risks of certain "health" foods that are promoted as "good protein sources", like soy , which is now ubiquitous in many processed foods and "health foods" yet whose long-term health effects are still being seriously questioned. .
AND -- we need to change our lifestyles to reduce the stress in our lives!

Great post, AEllenFletcher. You should post more often in such threads here on CD.
I can't understand why anyone would want to buy poisoned food. Organically grown food is so widely available now, it seems unfathomable that people still insist on purchasing food that is not just unhealthy but actually harmful to eat.
"...why anyone would want to buy poisoned food." $$$$$,
A bigger question is why would anyone want to eat processed food. Yes, that includes boxed cereals, even those at the health food store.
The Komen Foundation sells handguns - to shoot cancer as it is hides in boobies?
Or shoot yourself because you know you haven't gotten anything but inferior piecemeal health care all your adult life and having a terminal disease is not going to do anything but make getting care even more impossible.
I couldn't agree with you more. The elephant in the room is environmental toxins. The link between cancers and these substances that we are being assaulted with on a daily basis, has been known for half a century. It is utter and complete madness to allow a handful of people to poison us because it makes them richer.

The cancer biz is really heavily invested into ignoring environmental toxins. And not surprisingly when you know that the Oil Industries, and Pharmaceutical and cancer biz is one big incestuous killing money suck funnel. And... these are the same people spending literally millions to block health care for all. Since they own and run the government, they correctly think of taxpayer money as theirs, so they sure as hell don't want socialize health care when they can force us to pay with the fear and reality that is cancer. Then they can spend all our tax money on their pet projects like war and world wide resource control, not for Americans, but private industry, of course.
I, for one, am like this women, pink ribbons are nothing but a pretty cover for something really fucking sickening and epically horrible, not to mention deadly. And that's the ****"cure"**** part!!!!. Expecting women to get caught up in this sick and fucking hideous lie is evil of the highest magnitude. We are suppose to believe our bodies go into this self destruct mode and that poison all around us, is well, not really there in any meaningful way while we "run for the cure" in our pink flowing ribbons , oh so feminine. All the while stuffing money in the cancer biz's pockets and watching our mothers, daughters, wives, and sisters get their boobs cut off, or worse, radiated with toxic chemo until their hair falls out, and then probably die a horrible death. While SGK and others tutor us into believing it's our rotten old lady parts to blame not the cocktail of poisons dumped in our environment and food that is turning our diets into nutrient free FrankenFood.
Meanwhile, those raking in the dough are lobbying to stop health care access for all, giving huge chunks of money to the likes of Penn State, and making strides into positioning themselves into a role of deciding the will of God concerning women's lives and health issues. The same God, apparently, that put a self destruct button in women's bodies that gives them cancer after 50 of which we must be ever vigilant. and reminded of at every turn with pink flags to stuff money into the hands of the cancer biz that supposedly even owns the word *cure* but doesn't have clue one what it is.
We need to take the atrocity that is the circle of cancer dollars and demand national health care and protection from polluting industry. Right now we have no government, we have slave fleecing and management control from our masters and part of that enslavement is had by the hands of this hideous suck funnel that has been eating us up body and soul and leaving us so broke and fearful and sick that we are forced into submission for consumption.
Sorry to be so redundant, but this all demands repeating and repeating until it reaches every ear. Bring on the Green Ribbons.
NO MORE PINK
MY SISTERS AND BROTHERS. LETS GRAB THIS SUCK FUNNEL AND RIP IT TO BITS.
Dominant culture gets us coming and going... as the old saying goes. e.g. "the same company that markets sugary cereal to your youngsters on Sat. morning cartoons, are the exact same company that's trying to sell you a "heart healthy" adult cereal on the 6:00 news." this is a paraphrase from a Walter Conkrite news show special from 30 years ago. So... we eat what the TV tells us for the first 1/2 of life - then take what big Pharma sells us for the rest of our life. A very lucrative racket.
Smart Title. Short and honest.
The color of my ribbon is pink. And I will continue to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation until the cause of and cure for cancer are found.
Pink ribbons are for breast cancer awareness.
Green ribbons are for kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) awareness.
