Barack Obama: Manchurian Candidate Version 2.0
I once wrote an article about former President George W. Bush saying that he was a perfect Manchurian candidate. That is, if his missing year when he was supposed to have been flying fighter jets with the Texas Air National Guard was actually spent in the former Soviet Union being reprogrammed as a covert KGB agent whose job it was to go back to America, win election to the White House, and proceed to destroy the US, he couldn't have done a better job than he actually did.
Now I wonder whether President Obama might not be a perfect Manchurian Candidate of the Republican Party, or perhaps of some nefarious foreign entity-perhaps the China or the always-enigmatic Al Qaeda. How else to explain policies that have wreaked such destruction on the Democratic Party in Washington and on the nation at large.
Consider for a moment the history of this new president in whom so many invested so much hope and enthusiasm:
Almost immediately upon taking office President Obama announced that he was appointing Timothy Geithner, part of the Bush/Cheney financial team, to head up his Treasury Department. This is the same Timothy Geithner who, as head of the New York Federal Reserve, engineered the initial give-away of $85 billion to AIG, and the subsequent pass-through of tens of billions of dollars to a handful of the nation's largest banks and investment banks-surely the largest theft of public assets by private billionaires in the history of mankind. Obama went on to name a whole gang of Wall Street crooks to run his economic policy, assuring that the recession would be not an opportunity to restore long neglected and undermined New Deal programs, but rather to crush workers and the middle class while shifting staggering sums to the wealthy.
This was followed by a deliberate policy of dropping the ball on health reform, which a vast majority of Americans was clamoring for, and allowing it to be turned into a giant wet kiss for the insurance industry, whose stocks have leapt up with each advance of the massive and massively corrupt health "reform" legislation in Congress. (The ball drop took the form of Obama simply leaving the whole task of "reforming" health care up to the Congress, staying on the sidelines while Congress blew the job.)
Then there is the military. Here Obama kicked things off by insuring that there would be no real change from the Bush/Cheney imperialist scheme by reappointing to the post of secretary of defense the same guy, Robert Gates, who was secretary of defense under President Bush. He put the general formerly in charge of the Iraq War, David Petraeus, in charge of overall Middle East military operations, and took another Bush-era general, Stanley McCrystal, who had run special ops in Iraq, in charge of the Afghanistan War. And since then he has proceeded to ramp up the Afghanistan War from a small-scale operation to a full-fledged war, with no prospect of ending it, and every sign pointing to an ever wider and bigger war in that region, possibly sucking in Pakistan and Iran.
And as for the biggest crisis facing mankind, climate change, this new president, who because of the collapse of the US auto industry had a unique opportunity to compel one of the industries most responsible for the looming global ecological catastrophe to start to fix it by beginning a massive conversion to development and production of electric vehicles and mass transit, instead dropped the ball and just provided a taxpayer bailout with the goal of getting the domestic auto industry back into the business of cranking out gas guzzlers. The president has provided no leadership on climate change at all, effectively sabotaging the global effort to reach a new treaty to limit and cut back on greenhouse gas emissions this December.
Think about this. If the Republicans had created and inserted into the Democratic Party a secret candidate designed to trick Democrats into electing him, so that he could then enact Republican policies of robbing from the poor to enrich the rich, expanding the military budget to a level not seen since World War II, putting the nation deeper into a global war against Islam, sabotaging efforts to combat climate change, and further deregulating the financial sector, could they have come up with anything better than Barack Obama?
If Al Qaeda had wanted to insinuate someone into the White House to further undermine American empire, already on shaky legs during the Bush/Cheney years, by getting the US to further overextend its military, further bankrupt its already creaky economy, and further demoralize its citizens by boosting unemployment and undermining its Constitution, could Bin Laden & Co. have come up with a better Manchurian Candidate than Barack Obama?
If China had wanted a candidate to destroy the American currency, bankrupt the US and its remaining industrial base and leave it helpless and begging to be bought out by Chinese interests (there is now serious talk of China buying General Motors), could the country's Communist rulers have done better than Barack Obama?
Now don't get me wrong. I don't think for a second that Obama is a secret Republican or a secret Al Qaeda or Chinese operative, though I know that there are right-wing Tea Baggers out there who sincerely believe the latter two scenarios (often at the same time!). I think Obama is simply another slick politician with a giant ego and a shriveled sense of principle and ethics-a man that is, not unlike most of our political class, though with better diction and smile, whose interests include himself, his family, and those who bankroll him, but certainly not you, me and the country as a whole.
But it might help if we started to think of him in these terms, because objectively what we have right now in the White House is a president who is steering the nation towards disaster as surely as if it were his goal in life.
Because he is a Democrat, and because he talked a good line during the campaign last year, progressives are disoriented and don't know how to respond to his massive betrayal of all things progressive. At this rate, by next fall, we could have a raging full-scale war going on in Afghanistan, Pakistan in a state of chaos, Iran under attack by Israel or perhaps by Israel and the US, health reform a forgotten issue, real unemployment at over 20 percent, the dollar at half the value of the British pound, and negotiations for a global climate treaty in collapse. And progressives still will not be mounting any effective protest or political action.
I'm not sure what the answer is to this crisis. Many people on the left are arguing that it is essential to abandon the Democrats and move to a third party. I think that's a great idea. The Democratic Party has proved to be absolutely corrupt and beyond salvation--useful only as a sump pump whose purpose is to suck the life out of the progressive movement, such as it is. But I also can't help noticing that the vast majority of the middle class seems still content enough to struggle on with the jobs they still have -- the 80-85 percent of them who still have jobs -- ignoring the plight of those who do not and of the poor. It was an observation made by the late John Kenneth Galbraith that the problem with modern post-industrial democracies is that the vast majority of people do well enough that they no longer care about the suffering of the minority of the population.
As long as the ruling elites are able to keep the majority at least employed and in their homes, they can tighten the screws on the rest with impunity, and that is the situation we are in today. It is hard to see a new progressive party succeeding under such circumstances.
What is undeniable is that we are witnessing the systemic and probably terminal decline of the US as an economic power, and as a military power, and that is certainly a good thing, if not for Americans, then surely for the larger world. What is remarkable is watching President Obama, who was elected by Americans who were hoping he would turn things around, again and again act to hasten that decline.

Show AllThe threats are deeper here. The middle class, such as it is, may still be in their homes, but they see what is going on around them, and they hunker down to try and salvage what little they have left. This is not new with Obama, or with Bush. In 1973, with a slightly above average salary of 16,500 I bought a 4 bedroom house on a large lot with a 2 car garage for 13,000. At that time, a craftsman bungalow in the university district of Seattle would go for 14000 to 18000. In that same year I bought a new pickup, the first of Dodge's stretch cabs, for 3500. 36 years ago. Today the same house is going for 275,000 to 375,000, the pickup sells for 45,000 and salaries have gone up to 65,000. Can you see the disparity here? My '73 house plus pickup equalled my salary. who in the middle class is making a salary of 400,000 plus? And what house is actually worth 375,000? I do not think the middle class is 'willing' to allow the oppression of the poor. I think they are too damn scared [rightfully] to risk what they have left for any reason whatsoever. It is easy for guys like me to be 'gutsy' about these issues. I no longer have 3 little children looking to me to provide them with food, shelter and clothing. So I fear it is up to us, with gray heads, who grew up and prospered in America's golden years, to take matters in hand. We had the good times. We had the great dance. Now we must ante up, and pay the piper.
good post
It makes you realize how far we've sunk. When ray-gun first took office you could live on minimum wage. My first apartment was $150 a month, and I was making about $4.50 an hour. My car payment was $128/mo, and food was cheaper. I was working security and going to school at the time. No student loans necessary.
Yes, many Americans see the dangers ahead, but for many, it's too frightening to talk about openly. For some, it's even too frightening to think about - denial is a powerful psychological defense mechanism.
The "Manchurian candidate" was SECRETLY backed by communist Chinese agents.
There is nothing secret about Obama's backers.
hint: they are for more war/occupation/invasions
They are against single payer medical care for all
They like balanced budgets, but only with respect to non-war/non bank bailout spending
They are against enforcing the torture laws.
Do you need more hints? Are any of these hints a "secret" in the US?
- by next fall, we could have a raging full-scale war going on in Afghanistan, Pakistan in a state of chaos, Iran under attack by Israel or perhaps by Israel and the US, -
The rationale in each case is to prevent future terrorism.
Public Law 107-40 gives the President the authority to send the US military anywhere and attack anyone if they can be linked to terror.
As long as this law is in effect, we are screwed.
Knowing what Obama really is, the RNCers rubbed their hands together in glee and voted him in. Anyone who did research on Barry knew that he was firmly planted in the pocket of corporations, had no experience, no character, and no qualms about selling Americans right down the river.
Making excuses for Obama is racist. He knows exactly what he's doing, just like George Bush did. In the last eight years, people would say, "Well, Bush is going to be embarrassed he didn't accomplish what he set out to do." Be serious. His and Cheney's goal was to get us into war in the oil-rich Middle East, and they did just that. Mission Accomplished! And now they have another one of their own continuing the slaughter for oil and munition sales, etc.
Barack's not stupid or weak, he's evil. Stop making excuses for him and start thinking about how to beat the system.
Evil is as Evil does.. is it any wonder that Rupert Murdoch himself knew that Mr. Obama would become the next president and the first (and last) black face of empire, even saying so weeks or months before the (s)election..?
The US has become one big plantation and all but the non-elites should expect that, from now on, they will receive the n****r treatment.
The gloves are off and shall remain so... get used to it.
Why though? Why would a black guy with everything going for him pursue an "evil" course? Bush Jr I can see - he was a grade A loser from day one. He didn't have to work a day in his life to get places. Obama on the otherhand did. So why? Could it be that he's been boxed in by forces beyond any presidents control?
That answer implies that the U.S. political system has the power to force any president to behave as Obama is behaving, yet despite his experience as a Senator and his vaunted political shrewdness, he somehow didn't perceive this truth until he had assumed office as president. Does that seem plausible to you?
A much more straightforward answer is that Obama is ambitious and selfishly interested in acquiring power, wealth, and fame. That answer fits easily with the facts, so why not accept it?
John Mitchell's reply is excellent. Obama is squandering the amazing amount of power he should be wielding right now. People wanted him to succeed, for this to be an historic presidency. What's historic, apparently, is the blunder the DNC made in pushing this unqualified characterless person into the highest office in the land. I, for one, have quit the party over it, after having been a Yellow Dog Dem all my life.
"I think Obama is simply another slick politician with a giant ego and a shriveled sense of principle and ethics-a man that is, not unlike most of our political class, though with better diction and smile, whose interests include himself, his family, and those who bankroll him, but certainly not you, me and the country as a whole".
Right. He doesn't care about us and he isn't on our side. The sad part is he squandered so much and history will ultimately judge him as a failure, or maybe a footnote, rather than a giant. Ironically enough, his acceleration of the decline to fall sooner rather than later and drag this thing out might be a blessing- If the Empire falls and the US is broken up or taken over...maybe then we will get healthcare like the rest of the world- and that can't be soon enough.
Meanwhile, this version of disaster capitalism insures ongoing looting while dismantling the safety net. What the Depression taught was to limit the suffering to those with no power or limited advocacy and keep the rest treading water enough to prevent outright revolt. As long as the rich and powerful are reeling in it in and funneling it, in turn, to political fat cats, there is no incentive to change anything.

This is the equivalent of describing Obama as Public Enemy #1, which is my term for our current selected Emperor. Perhaps more folks here will start to use that moniker now that Lindorff has stated the obvious.
It may be 80% with employment now, but with 0ne Half Million losing jobs every month it is rapidly diminishing.
Obomber is doing nothing except extending unemployment, which I doubt would cover many homeowners mortgages, there is no help for unemployed homeowners to retain their homes.
Obomber is essencially Lord of Poverty.
Foreclosure freeze now and judicial cram down powers now.

Nicely stated.
The war mongers are already re-writing the old 'you can't fight a war with one hand tied behind your back' messages to be widely disseminated via the fawning media a few years and a few thousand more deaths from now when the American war machine's relics are the only reminders of what we had in mind for the Afghan people. They should also be preparing the heliport atop the American embassy and picking good vantage points to capture footage of the desperate people clinging to the last chopper out, just to complete the Vietnam motif.
Anone who seeks high office should immediately be barred from holding it.
Such positions tend to draw the egotist or those with an agenda to enrich themselve and their friends.
Political office should be like jury duty. A random selection of the populous forced by law to do their duty to society, on pain of imprisonment.
great idea one term and your out as well. no entrenchment
no time to open a lobbyist office and a five year ban before
being a lobbyist. this way people won't really can't set
down roots that will allow them to keep up the walking
between govt. and private activities
Mr. Lindorff is starting to analyze with a more critical eye, a welcome sight
We can also say similar things about Bill Clinton etc.
Howard Zinn and others make an historical argument that no mattter who is president, we have seen an ever rightward shift in policies all sorts since Eisenhower. Obama already fits this pattern.
My question to Mr. Lindorff: why does this keep happening?
Are there structural barriers to democratic choice and accountability? How can the democratic deficit be illustrated?
The answers to your questions are long and rather involved, probably the equivalent of 3 semester college level units that will never be taught at even the post-grad level. The easiest to answer is the second--Yes--and explaining why that is so would also answer your third, if I understand it correctly as referring to the democracy deficit.
At the most fundamental level, the overall answer is the USA has always been a quasi-authoritarian country whose federal government exists to ensure the continued hegemony of the richer over the poorer. Zinn's "People's History" makes just that point--especially the illustrated/comix version, which is very powerful. Further, the Native American Genocide and totally unprovoked invasion of Mexico that stole 1/2 of its land resulted in the absolute need to LIE to every child as it matriculates through the Indoctrination System, and the same could be said of Black Slavery and its Holocaust.
What I've provided probably isn't very satisfying. The web of deceit is very dense and complex, which I've been attempting to unravel for over 35+ years. Chomsky does a lot of the heavy lifting, and much more can be learned from following the trail his footnoted references provides, as well as those of other historians, like Beard, Zinn, Hofstadter, Bailyn, Wood, Lasch, and Husdon, to name just a few. Just reading Keyssar's "The Right to Vote" provides one with the answer that the USA was NEVER a democracy--although the federal government and its allies's propaganda certainly advertises the USA as the penultimate democracy, which allows only it to be its global defender [Robinson in "Promoting Polyarchy" provides the reasons why]. And of course we have a military that openly espouses its goal of Full Spectrum Domination--which ought to be fundamentally opposed by every freedom loving person on the planet just as Hiltler and Tojo were. If the USA were really a democracy, do you think a policy whose goal is to enslave the planet would even be mentioned let alone actively pursued?
I have read many of the authors listed. But for me, no author has tied it all together into one book until I read "Democracy Incorporated: Managed Democracy and the Specter of Inverted Totalitarianism" (2008) by Sheldon S. Wolin.
Highly recommended!!!
Excellent book! Read it a few months ago. I also highly recommend the book.
Yes, Woiln's work is very good. The rabid militarism being pushed by the elite is well presented by the lock-step between the Propaganda System and federal government that actually goes well beyond the efforts of BushCo. Add in grossly violent and explicit video "games" who are allowed to openly advertise on TV, and enough fanatics will be cultivated to support a president's extreme policies--just as we saw with Bush.
Did you catch how Wolin used change within his thesis as a causitive agent and compare it with how "Change" was used as a theme by Obama's handelers?
Good refs, Steven Hill is also good, Robert Dahl and Arend Lijphardt are some of my favs as well. Cheers.
Obama: merely another DEM no account reneger, indeed.
from the article:
"As long as the ruling elites are able to keep the majority at least employed and in their homes, they can tighten the screws on the rest with impunity, and that is the situation we are in today."
how long this employment\housing construct can maintain in the face of a devolving ecosystem will be the question...
also from the article:
"But I also can't help noticing that the vast majority of the middle class seems still content enough to struggle on with the jobs they still have -- the 80-85 percent of them who still have jobs -- ignoring the plight of those who do not and of the poor."
what else can they do, when the alternative is homelessness? ready to discuss moving away from private property, and the treadmill of debt?
I've been thinking, wouldn't it be great if someone started a charity website on the ebay model, on which people could post their personal plight and ask for funds directly from others? It could be paid for by marketers/advertisers for the non-profit segment, who would learn a lot about what makes people donate.
You're half-right, DL.
'Frankly, they own the place.' Ain't nothing Manchurian about it - 'they' hired BO to run the place 'they' own, which 'they' see as nothing more than any other corporation.
And they hired BO to insure The Place, Inc. continues to generate 'profits' for the owners.
What's funny is how many like DL simply cannot accept this fundamental truth. Sure, it sucks to admit that 'our' government is an O+O of Big Bankster and their Big Everything Else partners, but until this bottom-line is embraced, real 'change' will never occur.
Although it seems ridiculously impossible, either we focus on wresting control of 'our' government from the clutches of the soul-less uber-greedy, or we stop bitching and prepare for more painful screwing...
Turn away from 'or government'. It is dead, a Pinochio. The USA must be dissolved into separate states related by negotiation and treaty. Take the Pentagon to pieces.
Funny and insightful --- except about Empire
Dave, your article is both LOL funny and insightful together --- which is hard to do.
However, your reference to "American empire" mixes up your metaphor / satire.
You say:
"If Al Qaeda had wanted to insinuate someone into the White House to further undermine American empire, already on shaky legs during the Bush/. Cheney years, by getting the US to further overextend its military, further bankrupt its already creaky economy, and further demoralize its citizens by boosting unemployment and undermining its Constitution, could Bin Laden & Co. have come up with a better Manchurian Candidate than Barack Obama?"
What Al Qaeda (and others) are probably smart enough to want to do is not "undermine (the supposed) 'American empire', already on shaky legs", but rather undermine the real Global ruling-elite corporate/financial Empire --- which controls America by hiding behind the facade of its two-party 'Vichy' sham of democracy --- and is definitely not an Empire on "shaky legs", but an Empire growing and metastasizing faster as it quietly absorbes more former nation-states, like U.K., Israel, etc. every year.
Dave, "Insinuat(ing) someone into the White House" like Obama may certainly be bad for "further bankrupting (middle/working-class American's) economy, and further demoralize its citizens by boosting unemployment and undermining its Constitution", but those goals are not antithethical to the real Global ruling-elite corporate/financial Empire --- that has already taken over America through 'Vichy' guile --- those things are exactly why the Empire put Obama in the carcass of America.
An assumed smart and informed Al Qaeda would not want to insert a 'Manchurian Cadidate' to further kick the carcass of an already blood-sucked America --- but to destroy the real and expanding Global Empire that is attacking and intent on destorying the Muslim world in a 'Clash of Civilizations' front to expropriate necessary resources.
The only real hidden faction that would benefit from insinuate someone like an Obama 'Manchurian Cadidate' into the White House would be the Global Empire --- that already controls America, and is eating its way, like a cancerous tumor, around the world.
The 'American Empire' of the late 20th century, which Luce more politely referred to as the 'American Century', and of which no presidents since Eisenhower and JFK ever whispered the word 'Empire' while it actually existed, was already body-snatched by the time anyone other than Chomsky and Chalmers Johnson impolitely called it by its real name.
Now, in the 21st century, that the Global ruling-elite corporate/financial/military Empire has quietly and fully displaced the never-talked-about 'American Empire', it is safe and even helpful for every two-bit media shill, like ABC's "This Week", just this Sunday, to employ the term 'American Empire' to rally Americans with fears of "Empire Lost' and that the economic benefits of 'their empire' are at risk ---- without, of course ever revealing that any benefits of that, now transformed empire, were invested by those who actually benefit from empire into their new 21st century model.
"The Empire is dead. Long live the new (hidden) Empire"
It is surprising, Dave, in the 21st century, how few, regardless of geographic location in the world of passing nation-states, are truly benefitted by the real Empire --- and how many, in all geographies, religions, cultures, and ideologies are ravaged by it.
But few of us yet appear to understand the old Middle East saying, "My enemy's enemy is my friend."

One assumption that many journalists and punidts rarely if ever question is so-called Al-Quaeda. The official storyline is that bin Laden/Al Zawahiri are the leaders of an international network of sleeper cells in dozens of countries.
However, I have seen no hard evidence of this. There is plenty of evidence that there are resistance groups opposed to domination and new forms of imperialism and colonialism from the West. The only evidence of "Al-Quaeda" comes from statements and claims from "official sources" and are taken at face value. It seems any Arab or Islamic group that opposes US policy in any way is labeled Al quaeda or "linked to Al-Quaeda"
The Adam Curtis documentary "the Power of Nightmares" claims that the official storyline of Al-Quaeda is almost all a phony story to serve as a new bogyeman for the new Politics of Fear. What do you reckon?
Gary Leupp's mainpage article at Counterpunch provides a fact-based answer of Yes.
thanks for the tip, I had not yet checked it out, I normally visit Counterpunch. I always like to get others feedback, as oftentimes when I mention something like that poeple think it is a wild conspiracy theory.
I reckon Adam Curtis hit the nail right on the head. Though he is not the first to suggest this, his documentary did a fantastic job of building the case for it, backed by evidence and critical thinking. An important documentary to watch.
Bin Laden is America's Emmanuel Goldstein.
It's Al-Qaeda, or Al-Qaida. Not "Al-Quaeda." There's no 'u' in the word. I know, at least half of all the references to Al-Qaeda in Common Dreams misspell it, after it's been in countless thousands of news and commentary pieces for at least 10 years. You'd have to pronounce "Al-Quaeda" something like "Al-Kwayda". Again, Al-Qaeda.
so what, it is a phony organization anyway: How bout "El Kayder"?
Many people spell it Al-CIAda.
From the article:
"Think about this. If the Republicans had created and inserted into the Democratic Party a secret candidate designed to trick Democrats into electing him, so that he could then enact Republican policies of robbing from the poor to enrich the rich, expanding the military budget to a level not seen since World War II, putting the nation deeper into a global war against Islam, sabotaging efforts to combat climate change, and further deregulating the financial sector, could they have come up with anything better than Barack Obama?"
IMHO this article should have had the title "There no longer is any meaningful difference between the two Main US Political parties"
But other than that I thought it was pretty good.
Perhaps the missing years were years spent at the U of Chicago?
ground zero of evil in america! u of c!
I thought that was Wall Street. Or Washington, D.C. Or the Pentagon.
But maybe it's a state of mind.
You do mean U of Chicago, right? If so, I would agree with you, but wish you would elaborate.
Obama was put in place to do what he is doing. The corporations have a schedule to keep for setting up the North American Union and it's dependent on breaking down the US.
There are 9 short videos that are worth time since Crane laid out what is already happening here.

And let's not forget the military power for HERE. The Pandemic, all planned by Bush and Cheney on the same lines are the War on Terror. Create a reason for fear and have in place a huge apparatus to use to remove rights via that fear. In this case, the control comes in disguise as "health emergency" just as the War on Terror was supposed to be about "democracy."
Obama declared a national emergency right about this information came out proving the CDC had been lying at the level of Bush's lies about WMDs.

“Today America would be outraged if UN troops entered Los Angeles to restore order. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there was an outside threat from beyond, whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all people of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well being granted to them by the World Government.” Kissinger, famous overturner of democracies and setter up of dictatorships.
Obama has been quietly part of this pandemic, and this pandemic is the not-seen-yet, quiet military power http://curezone.com/forums/fm.asp?i=1484889
that will be in place when Americans revolt against the planned theft of their country's economy and food and resources and government. The means to control will be "quarantining" in FEMA camps to "protect" people from infection (though herding people together is the best way to spread infection) or quarantining whole cities, and in either, forcing unknown vaccines on people. It is health brought by the same corporations corrupting the healthcare effort, and even some of the same ones that destabilized a democratic Germany and put Hitler in, helped with genocide, and was convicted of war crimes, including killing with vaccines.
From the WHO 2005 declaration: (excerpted) “Under special pandemic plans enacted around the world including the USA, in 2005, national governments are to be dissolved in the event of a pandemic emergency and replaced by special crisis committees, which take charge of the health and security infrastructure of a country, and which are answerable to the WHO and EU in Europe and to the WHO and UN in North America.
Obama is doing this, too, and it is the the most serious of all.
Larry Pinkney on Obama:
This is a man, who also like his father before him, neither served in a branch of the US military nor in any organization in America opposed to US military adventurism.
This is a man who as a deeply corporate military industrial complex US Presidential candidate, has called for “unilateral” US military actions in other nations. [And why not? After-all, his father, himself, or his wife and children were not and will not be the ones killing and being killed.]
(SNIP)
This man, Barack Obama, is but a more articulate, younger, and shinier version of the current and infamous US Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, adorning himself dangerously and abundantly in superficiality and double-speak.

What we're not seeing yet . . . is how the ruling elite will transfer their base of operations to China after they have destroyed US.
get to new hampshire, run in the primary, beat obama in 2012. it can be done. even his supporters are now less than lukewarm and headed to 32 degrees. scott ritter, are you listening?
"...terminal decline of the US as an economic power, and as a military power..." These words do not signify some distant abstract. This depiction will not be a spectator sport for any of you. There will blood in the streets along with hunger, darkness, and fear in the cold homes of impoverished America...and then the heavily armed cannibals will come out to play...we haven't really seen the cannibals yet, the REAL Americans. We've only seen the people who are making them...today... people like Larry Summers, making your future and future of your grandchildren, today. Hell on Earth is about to be your daily lives, if it isn't already. How's that Health Care "Reform" coming along? About like EFCA? About like spying on all Americans? Are you ready for BHO to give several Trillion$$ more to the richfilth animals while his minions fuck you to death? This is it. Happening today all around you...not in some distant foggy time, right now...Death Walks Among You.
So very sorry. The White Majority silenced, jailed, or murdered everyone who could save them. They were "neutralized" so White America could keep White Male Supremacy, Gender Slavery, & Constant War. Blood drinking Oligarchy has always been the glue that binds the shit-cake together. White America knows that. This is why they degrade and debase themselves before their Masters - to this day. They have always demanded Exclusion. Now they die; as a people, as a nation, and as an empire. They turned their face on the 21st Century and now they rush headlong back to 12th Century feudalism. No health care, no education, or any life you would wish on a dog. Just so they could keep "the niggers", "the bitches", and the "anti-war protesters" in their place.
To paraphrase Nelson Mandela, "Their brains don't work right." Do they.

'What is undeniable is that we are witnessing the systemic and probably terminal decline of the US as an economic power, and as a military power, and that is certainly a good thing, if not for Americans, then surely for the larger world.'
This is a very good thing. The USA has become too big to succeed. POTUS is a patsy. If ever conspiracy has been close to an unconsciously achieved fact it is now in the USA.
The USA is in the way of millions of Americans. It prevents them from being the benefit to the world that they deserve to be. The USA must dissolve into something of the order of self governing states; into an alliance that excludes the Pentagon.
