Gaza - Stop the Massacre

WASHINGTON - Stop the War condemns the brutal massacre carried out today on unarmed protesters in Gaza by Israeli troops. These protesters are demanding the right to return to their historic homes which they were forced from during the Nakba 70 years ago.

The deaths coincide with the moving of the US embassy to Jerusalem and its recognition by Donald Trump as Israel's capital. This is against international law and agreements, and a deliberate provocation to the Palestinians who are forced to endure occupation, illegal settlement and brutal repression.
Lindsey German, Stop the War Convenor, said "This massacre should be immediately met with international condemnation and with protests in solidarity. We demand that Theresa May's government condemns the actions of Trump and Netanyahu in the strongest terms and that the British government stops all arms sales to Israel."

There will be an emergency protest tomorrow at 17:30 opposite Downing Street.

FRIENDS: Help Us Fight

Independent journalism has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support us now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing. Thank you. -- Craig Brown, Co-founder
