Defector Admits to WMD Lies That Helped Trigger Iraq War
The defector who convinced the White House that Iraq had a secret biological weapons programme has admitted for the first time that he lied about his story, then watched in shock as it was used to justify the war.
Watch the interview
Rafid Ahmed Alwan al-Janabi, codenamed Curveball by German and American intelligence officials who dealt with his claims, has told the Guardian that he fabricated tales of mobile bioweapons trucks and clandestine factories in an attempt to bring down the Saddam Hussein regime, from which he had fled in 1995.
"Maybe I was right, maybe I was not right," he said. "They gave me this chance. I had the chance to fabricate something to topple the regime. I and my sons are proud of that and we are proud that we were the reason to give Iraq the margin of democracy."
The admission comes just after the eighth anniversary of Colin Powell's speech to the United Nations in which the then-US secretary of state relied heavily on lies that Janabi had told the German secret service, the BND. It also follows the release of former defence secretary Donald Rumsfeld's memoirs, in which he admitted Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction programme.
The careers of both men were seriously damaged by their use of Janabi's claims, which he now says could have been – and were – discredited well before Powell's landmark speech to the UN on 5 February 2003.
The former CIA chief in Europe Tyler Drumheller describes Janabi's admission as "fascinating", and said the emergence of the truth "makes me feel better". "I think there are still a number of people who still thought there was something in that. Even now," said Drumheller.
In the only other at length interview Janabi has given he denied all knowledge of his supposed role in helping the US build a case for invading Saddam's Iraq.
In a series of meetings with the Guardian in Germany where he has been granted asylum, he said he had told a German official, who he identified as Dr Paul, about mobile bioweapons trucks throughout 2000. He said the BND had identified him as a Baghdad-trained chemical engineer and approached him shortly after 13 March of that year, looking for inside information about Saddam's Iraq.
"I had a problem with the Saddam regime," he said. "I wanted to get rid of him and now I had this chance."
He portrays the BND as gullible and so eager to tease details from him that they gave him a Perry's Chemical Engineering Handbook to help communicate. He still has the book in his small, rented flat in Karlsruhe, south-west Germany.
"They were asking me about pumps for filtration, how to make detergent after the reaction," he said. "Any engineer who studied in this field can explain or answer any question they asked."
Janabi claimed he was first exposed as a liar as early as mid-2000, when the BND travelled to a Gulf city, believed to be Dubai, to speak with his former boss at the Military Industries Commission in Iraq, Dr Bassil Latif.
The Guardian has learned separately that British intelligence officials were at that meeting, investigating a claim made by Janabi that Latif's son, who was studying in Britain, was procuring weapons for Saddam.
That claim was proven false, and Latif strongly denied Janabi's claim of mobile bioweapons trucks and another allegation that 12 people had died during an accident at a secret bioweapons facility in south-east Baghdad.
The German officials returned to confront him with Latif's version. "He says, 'There are no trucks,' and I say, 'OK, when [Latif says] there no trucks then [there are none],'" Janabi recalled.
He said the BND did not contact him again until the end of May 2002. But he said it soon became clear that he was still being taken seriously.
He claimed the officials gave him an incentive to speak by implying that his then pregnant Moroccan-born wife may not be able to travel from Spain to join him in Germany if he did not co-operate with them. "He says, you work with us or your wife and child go to Morocco."
The meetings continued throughout 2002 and it became apparent to Janabi that a case for war was being constructed. He said he was not asked again about the bioweapons trucks until a month before Powell's speech.
After the speech, Janabi said he called his handler at the BND and accused the secret service of breaking an agreement that they would not share anything he had told them with another country. He said he was told not to speak and placed in confinement for around 90 days.
With the US now leaving Iraq, Janabi said he was comfortable with what he did, despite the chaos of the past eight years and the civilian death toll in Iraq, which stands at more than 100,000.
"I tell you something when I hear anybody – not just in Iraq but in any war – [is] killed, I am very sad. But give me another solution. Can you give me another solution?
"Believe me, there was no other way to bring about freedom to Iraq. There were no other possibilities."

Show AllThat Janabi lied is irrelevant.
That US intelligence services fabricated data to support those lies is the real crime.
Exactly right. Liars are a dime a dozen. The goon squad that governs us is to blame for all this.
Meanwhile, the goon squad is up to its' old tricks in South America. I'm glad they caught them:
Argentina accuses US of trying to smuggle weapons into country. Diplomatic row over cargo US claims was intended for training programme further sours already poor relationship
Ewen MacAskill in Washington guardian.co.uk, Tuesday 15 February 2011 00.09 GMT
Barack Obama's upcoming Latin America tour will not take in Argentina, a decision which has strained relations.
Relations between the US and Argentina have deteriorated after Buenos Aires lodged a formal complaint over a US military plane that landed late last week carrying guns, drugs and satellite phones.
The Argentinian government claimed the US was trying to sneak the weapons into the country, though it didn't offer an explanation of why Washington might want to do this.
The US state department said the consignment was intended for a police training programme in Argentina.
Officials from Argentina and the state department have been in talks aimed at resolving the row.
The relationship between the two countries has been poor since Barack Obama released details of a Latin American tour next month that includes Brazil, Chile and El Salvador but not Argentina.
The Argentinian foreign ministry, in a statement on Sunday night, said "sensitive material" had been seized that had not been declared on the inventory submitted by the US embassy, including weapons, GPS equipment and drugs such as morphine.
It asked the US why its air force had attempted "to violate Argentine laws by bringing in camouflaged material in an official shipment".
Héctor Timerman, the Argentine foreign minister, said he had spoken with the US assistant secretary of state, Arturo Valenzuela, who "refused to explain why they tried to pass this material".
The undeclared cargo has been confiscated.
The state department said all the material had been declared and was destined for a training course Argentina had asked for in hostage rescue, adding that the drugs were routine medical kit.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
LOL
Now for all you slow learners, remember to quote the US State Department of Hillary horseshit artists if you are caught with a massive load of guns and drugs.
1) Machine guns and ammunition are "TRAINING MATERIALS" (Now what do you suppose they are training for? HUH?).
2) "Hostage Rescue" really means "Help corporations avoid paying people proper wages by overthrowing the local pro-people government".
3) All drugs are part of the "MEDICAL KIT" (yep all those tons of cocaine are really just anti-depressives to help those poor capitalists survive in Argentina's "anti-business" environment).
The goon squad is busy, busy, busy.
Perfect.
This article is suspect, and attempt to change the subject. For depths of cynicism try the title of one article today in the cluster 'How US was duped by fantasist looking to unseat Saddam'.
The Guardian must think its readers are children. Sometimes I think so too.
Let me take it further. The Guardian is as sincere as it can be but this is what makes it a suspect newspaper. It is a current tragedy. Now it is busily turning attention away from the essentials of the revolution of the Middle East just when the protesters in Egypt need the most support to enable them in their quest for real change. This may explain the prominence of the article in question. There is not enough time or space here for me to give an exhaustive analysis to support my claim but the Guardian is there in this stinking way everyday. (This is an ironical advert).
I keep on saying we, the world, have an Anglo-Saxon problem. What I observe above is indicative of this. The Guardian may claim it is their market but this will be begging the question with childish rubbish, but of course the ample evidence is that this will make it easier for the Anglo-Saxon to swallow it.
We have a massive problem that, amazingly, squats on the nub of the matter and variably enthuses just like Toad (Wind in the Willows) and insists with guns and moneyed connections that it is the solution. It is nothing short of cultural inanity and the Guardian is only one small part of it. The West must change. Bring on the revolution! Burn Toad's Halls! even if they are White.
Remember that inane differs from insane only with an s. Think of the significant Western leaders of our times in the US and England and add the s. It perfectly fits almost all of them from Ronald through Maggie and Tony to George et al.They would all have been or would be in asylums if they had not been cosseted in their retreats.
Where do we find them? That is the question the world has to find the answer for.
You are absolutely correct. Even as this pawn was telling his BS story, the people he was telling it to knew he was lying. That's what they paid him for.
Now, they paid him to come out and try to wash our brains into thinking that the innocent US government was totally fooled by him, the mastermind.
CRAPOLA!
So what? Puppet-Emperor Obama gave the War Criminals a de-facto pardon and he now continues the crime spree. The Oligarchs are above the law.
"The Oligarchs are above the law."
Rope is cheap.
So now the official story is that one man with personal axe to grind against Saddam is responsible for an estimated 1 million plus deaths, 3 million internal refugees, the destruction of entire cities, the looting of priceless relics of human history, all of it was due to the lies ONE MAN told?
The various Western 'Intelligence' agencies are catastrophically stupid, in failing to do any kind of common sense background check.
But no, just make their higher-ups in Washington, DC and other capitols feel better about the illegal invasion and occupation of a sovereign nation, they go with the first asshat who can sell them a good fantasy.
Just when you think your opinion of Government can't get any lower, along comes a new fact, stated right out in the open, that you can't trust them any further than you can pitch a fit...
Non Serviam - I will not serve.
Galenwainwright,
If you remember your history of this, we actually had some (not much, I know) debate about all this before Bush and his minions actually invaded Iraq. The CIA and our other civilian intelligence agencies DID disprove all this stuff and if you go back and look at the record they DID say so. Hell, even the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) was saying that Saddam's Iraq had no ties to Al Qaeda or Osama bin Laden.
It was the politically appointed leadership who wanted this and who "cooked the books" so to speak by forming their own little "intelligence groups" outside of the existing formal systems and agencies. Remember Douglas Feith and that little group in the Pentagon that he created called the Counter Terrorism Evaluation Group (CPEG) who had as their sole purpose to find something - anything to link Iraq with Sep 11th and Osama bin Laden.
If you want to know why and how the U.S. was "deceived" (cough, cough) you only need look at who we had in political positions of power back then. Cheney and Rumsfeld - who both have a long and sullied history with this type of thing and go all the way back to the Nixon administration together. (Just look at the “Report of the Commission to Assess the Ballistic Missile Threat to the United States,” chaired by Rumsfeld and released in July 1998)
Then we had Paul Wolfowitz, Richard Perle, Lewis "Scooter" Libby, John Bolton, Elliott Abrams, and Karl Rove.
To throw blame on the "failed" intelligence agencies is not correct. For all their faults (and they have many - and many which are downright criminal) dragging us into Iraq was not one of them In fact on this one, the non Bush lackeys - the career civil service types in our intelligence agencies were trying to do just the opposite - why else would we even have had all the smears against Joeseph Wilson and the entire Valarie Plame scandal.
We can all still scream bloody murder for all the other things the CIA has done but lets at least stick to the truth on this one.
Yes, they would have invaded with the consent of an Iraqi talking parrot!
"With the US now leaving Iraq, Janabi said he was comfortable with what he did, despite the chaos of the past eight years and the civilian death toll in Iraq, which stands at more than 100,000."
That's not counting our own troops. How many deaths does it take to call it a war crime? Who's being prosecuted?
Anatoly France (1844-1924) French writer Quoted in Van…
You believe you are dying for the fatherland - you die for some industrialists.
... civilian death toll in Iraq, which stands at more than 100,000." That's not counting our own troops. ....
a LOT more than 100,000. Try around 1.5 million.
"Believe me, there was no other way to bring about freedom to Iraq. There were no other possibilities."
One has to wonder, considering events in Tunis and Egypt. Of course these were entirely different countries, with an entirely different set of circumstances. Still, Saddam at the time was pretty penned in militarily with the flyovers in the northern and southern third of the country-- his helicopters couldn't get to the south to oppress the Shiites there, for example.
He had to die sometime.
Why was the Iraq War "the only way"?
And of course the revelation of his role will serve as an unjustified fig leaf for the neocon warmongers. ("See, we were misled...") What a waste of precious life this war, all war is!
A ho-hum non-story at this late date.
The ones who believed are probably going into that state of cognitive dissonance, bringing on rectilinear logic overload and will hear 'we found WMDs."
We were after Osama in Afghanistan, so we went to Iraq before the U.N. was done with their inspection (as I recall, we drove the U.N. out so we could go in). Wasn't that how the story went? Made as much sense then as it does now.
And what about the neocon documents years or a decade before that show we were champing at the bit to get at Iraq's oil fields?
As for this poor chap, he can now land a huge book contract by "coming clean."
I think Guardian should focus more on real reasons behind the Iraq war, naming OIL and MIC. This is just side kick...
Not only that, Guardian also have argument the US was "duped" by curveball... please !! Country who spends trillions of dollar on its military was duped by opinion of just one person ?
"How US was duped by Iraqi fantasist looking to topple Saddam"...
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/feb/15/curveball-iraqi-fantasist-cia-saddam
The Gulf of Tonkin, The Battleship Maine, Invasion of Panama, Grenada, and on and on and on. First, decide what needs to be done, then make up facts to support your decision. Why do they even bother?. Just support the troops and bombs away.
Convenient timing, no?
GWB: "See, Curveball lied... it wasn't my fault.. can I go to Europe now?"
World Court: "Yes George, you can go to Geneva, after a short visit to the Hague..."
parasites, thieves, thugs, and liars. finish them off.
How does "revealing" Curveball at this late date do anybody any real good?......and who the hell thinks:
1-this country will be ever be held responsible for our massive war crimes?
2-we will ever leave our billion dollar Green Zone Iraqi enclave?
3- this will happen BEFORE or AFTER Israel "gives up" the Palestinian West Bank?
4-this will happen Before or After we EXIT South Korea,.Germany or the 0ther 800 or so military bases we pollute world-wide?
This is, of course, utter nonsense. Curveball's stories added nothing but window dressing for the credulous, the War itself was a decision that had already been taken for reasons that are still not entirely clear.
But let the Guardian waste its resources on this fluff. Let's get one of the architects of the disaster - a Rumsfeld or a Cheney - before a crack reporting team, like say those 60 Minutes people, and we should be able to make some real headway into the Hows and Whys.
oh... wait...
"I and my sons are proud of that and we are proud that we were the reason to give Iraq the margin of democracy."
"I tell you something when I hear anybody – not just in Iraq but in any war – [is] killed, I am very sad. But give me another solution. Can you give me another solution?"
How absolutely ridiculous and stupid is Curveball. So now then, after an estimated 1.5 million dead, and 5 million refugees, and widespread birth defects due to D.U., do you have any sign of this "margin of democracy"?!? Let me answer: None whatsoever! You now have occupation and a puppet government, and more torture than ever before! And the country that once had the best free medical system in the Middle East and the best Education system now has none of these. In fact, the entire country, the sewerage, the electricity, the water, the education, the health services can barely be said to exist.
Very good Curveball (Filthy Liar) that you dont seem to have to live there anymore. So you dont get to see if your neighbors are proud of your lies too. You can join Tony Blair and John Howard. They too are proud of their lies - at least on the surface.
Wonder what the patsy gets for this? His family freed maybe?
If a liar is used by a liar (the US government)... doesn't that make what he says the truth?
Didn't the great Jewish/American philosopher, George Costanza, have something to say about this?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vn_PSJsl0LQ
Now that is some rather in your face propaganda journalism, designed to at once, put Curveball in some sort of sympathetic light, paint the neocons as being victims of his lies, and then frame it such that the ends justify the means, while framing the "ends" as pro democracy.
Judith Miller couldn't have done better, and she would be very happy being published, unopposed, by CD.
"Maybe I was right, maybe I was not right,"
My god! You helped start a war that killed a half million people and this is what you say? This guy has a lot of penance to perform.
Please don't fall for this propaganda. His lies were known to be such, at the time, by those in the CIA.
Curveball is no doubt, a bad guy, but this media blitz is designed to further distract attention from those war designers, whose culpability in mass murder stands alone.
Bingo!
I don't believe they were duped because of the sanctions put in place for a decade prior to the war. The lack of drugs for cancer and disinfectants like banned items of bleach to clean water were not available, even when there was a cholera outbreak. I read a quarter of a million children were affected by the ban on these items. Donald Rumsfeld and Dick Cheney who were already very rich gained enormous contracts and power by the use of military madness, confusion and fear of the public. Now our country has lost credibility all over the world and divided our country. The military spends all our counties money, on planes and drones we will never need to use.
Hmmm..... Curveball Janabi, who left Iraq in 1995, is approached by German intelligence officials in March of 2000, agents who were "gullible" and "eager to tease details" from this Iraqi ex-pat about Saddam Hussein's clandestine biological weapons program. "I had a problem with the Saddam regime. I wanted to get rid of him and now I saw this chance", says Curveball.
So he told the German spies a fairy tale about a SNAFU at a top secret Iraqi bioweapons lab that had killed a dozen scientists, and tales about mobile biological weapons trucks. German intelligence, now joined by British intelligence, try to confirm Curveball's info in the summer of 2000, when they question Dr. Latif (their snitch's former boss) in Dubai. Latif assures them the biolab tales are complete bullshit. The BMD agents go back to Germany, confront Curveball, and Janabi recants and admits he lied: "If Latif says there are no trucks, well, there are no trucks" [and presumably no dozen dead Iraqi scientists either].
Nothing more happens for over a year (2001). In May, 2002, German intelligence comes back to Janabi and demands he cooperate and revisit the Saddam bioweapons program story. "You work with us, or your [pregnant] wife and child go [get rendered] to Morocco." Curveball, who has asylum in Germany, decides to cooperate. He tells his hosts what they want to hear throughout the rest of 2002, sensing that "a case for war was being constructed" that would bring down Saddam Hussein's regime.
According to Janabi, his German intelligence agency handlers did not return to the subject of the mysterious mobile bioweapons trucks until the month before Secretary of State Colin Powell gave his infamous February, 2003 speech to the UN Security Council with CIA director George Tenet glowering gravely in the background. Remember Colin waving the mock anthrax cannister, hauling out the mock up artists' pictures of the biological weapons vans, and doing a powerpoint presentation of ominous aerial surveillance photos?
Curveball's 2003 recantation of his 2000 recantation is the apparent centerpiece of Colin Powell's "brilliant" case [according to the NY Times] for a UN-backed invasion of Iraq. That speech took place well after the summer of 2002 British/American planning session immortalized in the Downing Street memos, after the passage of the Authorization for Use of Military Force resolution in the fall of 2002, after the 2002 war fervor Congressional elections gave the GOP control of both the Senate and the House, and after the Bush/Cheney White House had issued repeated demands, time deadlines, and ultimatums to Saddam Hussein demanding he hand over his weapons of mass destruction to avert shock and awe and overthrow.
Well, if Curveball is telling us the truth today, then what was the basis for all that hype, sabre rattling and fear mongering about Saddam Hussein's chemical and biological WMD back during 2002? It couldn't have been anything Curveball said. At that time, German intelligence, British intelligence, and presumably the CIA all knew he was an unreliable, self-serving source. So what was the basis for all those grandiose public lies told by all those powerful men?
To their credit, the German government at least did not jump on the Bush/Blair invasion bandwagon when the UN Security Council vote was called. And to their continuing credit, British newspapers like the Guardian keep after the story even today.
Americans would much rather pretend it was all an understandable misunderstanding in the fog of a global war on terror, harrumph that the world is a better off anyway, and simply turn the page.
Bill from Saginaw
Good stuff Bill! I shall keep a copy of your comment.
Careful Bill,
Just a thought, but sometimes those who are pulling the strings will go out of their way to hide that fact.
Just because they didn't jump on the Bush/Blair Bandwagon, doesn't mean they have squeeky clean hands.
Maybe they just didn't NEED to jump on. Let someone ELSE take the heat. Why tip your hand?
Who cares if this guy made something up that was used by U.S. officials to justify war? If he didn't exist they just would have used some other fabrication, or invented something out of thin air, without any source at all.
hamster -
The point to me is Curveball is the guy Bush and Cheney and Tenet and Rumsfeld and Powell all say was their source for the hoax about Saddam's mobile anthrax vans. He's the only source, according to those who very publicly choreographed the march to war in Iraq when they were pressed for fact details to back up their hawkish hyperbole.
Now, years later, we hear the snitch's side of the encounter, laced of course with a lot of self-serving justifications about why he did this, why he said that, whether he has regrets, etc. etc. That's not the story. The story is the time line.
What we know now - from the government's version, and the governments' snitch himself - is that Curveball admitted he was a liar about those nonexistent bioweapon trucks in 2000. The huge psy-ops campaign during calendar year 2002, especially in the fall of that year when Congress reconvened and war fever was at its worse in Washington, hyped and demonized Saddam as the new Hitler with secret labs of deadly toxins, some of them even mobile labs all the better to evade UN inspectors.
According to Curveball, his intelligence handlers never even turned the subject back to mobile bioweapons labs until a month before Colin Powell gave his 2003 speech (Curveball recanted his recantation). Therefore, there was no source - none - when all those cascading events in 2002 took place. And the people who were running the public relations push to unleash the dogs of war knew, at the very top, that they had no source.
They did invent something out of thin air, without any source at all. The time line pretty much proves it, doesn't it?
Bill from Saginaw
Yes. The Colin Powell presentation at the U.N. was transparently bullshit even at the time. Anyone who wasn't caught up in the bellicose fake patriotism could see that. They had nothing then and they still don't.
They did.
This is just Kabuki theatre to take the heat off Bush and Co.
Tough ill thought out, this is a lame attempt to rehabilitate Shrub's legacy and prop up the US government.
This poor excuse for a human being is scum. He will live with the blood of millions on his hands. He should be prosecuted, tried, condemned and disposed of like the trash he is.
donna,
are you refering to bush, cheney, or rumsfeld?
everybody (except maybe w hisself) from the top of the gov't down thru the media knew the WMD stories were lies. they were transparently lies. curveball just provided some legal cover, as his confession does now (thank you guardian for the propaganda).
what's interesting is his attitude toward his own actions is exactly that of w., cheney, rumsfeld, obama, hilary, zbig brzenski, netanyahu, gates, bill keller & fred hiatt, etc., etc., etc.: complete indifference to human life, unfathomable narcissism, the pettiness of a thoroughly spoiled brat.
the system we live in aspires to make us all as anti-social as hannibal lector. those who run this system long ago descended far beneath that fictional nadir.
Everything the US does is filth, lies, disgust, murder, and mortal sins.
But hey, it's an Empire --- and that's how Empires act.
Is it any worse than the Nazi Empire or the Soviet Empire? Maybe bigger in global scope and longer in time frame, but about what always comes from most big Empires.
The only real difference seems to be that this global Empire's crimes will wind up being existential for all of us, and actually cause extinction.

Agreed.
I don't buy this "lied about WMD" BS.
On the day that the USSC handed down the decision that Bush would be the next president,I knew intuitively he would go into Iraq and finish what Pappa Shrub started.
Why is it that I knew we were going to war with Iraq 9 months before 9/11 and before all this WMD shit was circulating the news yet these high ups in government claim they didn't know or were "lied to" bla, bla, bla.
I recall then Sen. Hillary Clinton claiming GW Bush "lied" to her. Is she that stupid? No.
It's called trying to cover one's ass.
I don't by for one second all this CIA false report bullshit, or the Democrats/Repugs pretending to be "lied to" by GW Bush.
It was clear to me when the election was stolen from Al Gore and the Shrub had been granted the presidency, that war was looming.
One just has to look at the Shrubs and their past and know what was to come.
DUH.
It's funny how, when he was aware the case for war was being built on his words, that he was willing to sacrifice other ppls children for his desires but not willing to sacrifice his own. His priority was the overthrow of the Saddam regime but he was happy to wait-it-out in Europe instead of living in the chaos back home.
I've thought long and hard about it and THIS is the only reason I would support either the draft or a requirement that gov't officials need to have loved ones in the front lines of conflict. It makes the gov't accountable for the decision it makes to go to war. (If there was a draft public pressure would've toppled the Iraq 'war' adventure years ago.) I hate to say. (I would've dodged it if I were still 'draftable'. If that's even a word.)
We send a person to jail for stealing but lying to go to war is yet to be called a crime. Hypocrisy and moral rot!
This man is a piece of human garbage, no less than Bush, Cheney, and their thugs.
Only a sociopathic murderer would disseminate such a lie while knowing that it will cause a war that will kill countless numbers of innocent fellow citizens and destroy a great deal of his country's property and infrastructure.
Furthermore, this revelation does not in any way absolve Bush Co, for the invasion of Iraq was planned before Bush stole the presidential elections, by the neoconservatives (see, e.g. the Project for the New American Century's 1998 letter to President Clinton), and, if this sociopath had not delivered the biological weapons pretext, Bush Co would have invaded on some other pretext: e.g. the dreamed up collusion between Al Qaeda and Saddam Hussein in the planning and realization of the 9/11 attacks.
"With the US now leaving Iraq..."
...and the Department of Defense budget reduced by the amount previously expended on Iraq...
...and the Moon leaving Earth orbit...
The guardian story is meant for a particular segment of society. Most of their drivel is directed to a target market
Meanwhile why even go to so called "curveball". Saddams Hussein's foreign minister, Naji Sabri was later revealed to be a CIA recruit. What a joke
Now Iraq is "free". Close to a million are like completely free, no mouths to fed, no longer the tedium of breath, thought, work, or anything else. Plus all that free Uranium dust for the little ones to play in. Free to blow up mosques, too. Life is sweet along the Tigris and the tourists are already pouring in to get a taste of the freedom.
The Guardian of... DAS KAPITAL!!! Why would it choose to report on the activities of lying thugs when it is the multitudes of "nobodies" who carry the society on their honest backs? It could be that The Guardian knows where the gravy comes from.
Question: How come the people that spread curve balls evil lies are still not demonized and being held accountable for war crimes? Bush,Cheney, Powell and others had to know they were lies, because he was a CIA asset, but used them anyway to attack Iraq and murder thousands of innocent people. On the other hand, Wikileaks tells the truth and is demonized and is being held accountable. What is wrong with this picture?
Paul Revere...we need you NOW please see NOW in huge huge bold red letters.
didn't Scott Ritter say there were no WMD?
why are we discussing this liar, when our own man had it right?
oh, yeah, because Ritter was right, but they didn't want to hear from someone who was right, they wanted to hear that there were WMD, even though there weren't, so Ritter was sidelined, and slandered...
how could the fact there were no WMD be news to anyone now?
it isn't...
it is propaganda...
