Ground Zero Mosque Plans 'Fuelling anti-Muslim Protests Across US'
Religious leaders warn of Islamophobia surge with hate speech and opposition to new Islamic centres across America
The battle over plans to build a mosque near the site of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York is fuelling a surge in anti-Muslim protests across the US, including opposition to new Islamic centres from California to Georgia.
This July 14, 2010 file photo shows protester Greg Johnson, right, and counter protesters Ina Marshall and Tim Foster, left, arguing during a demonstration against a planned mosque and Islamic community center in front of the Rutherford County Courthouse in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Mosques around the country are facing resistance similar to the opposition against a proposed Islamic center near ground zero in New York, but the anger and fear is a little sharper. (AP Photo/Christopher Berkey, file) Religious leaders and civil rights
activists warn that a tide of Islamophobia that has swept the country
since the destruction of the twin towers is being heightened by
political exploitation of the New York dispute before nationwide
elections and is increasingly bound up with hostility to immigrants and
other forms of racism.
They say the outpouring of condemnation at the "outrage" of a mosque close to the "hallowed ground" of the World Trade Centre site also goes hand in hand with the increasing acceptability of what they describe as hate speech.
A Florida church, Dove World Outreach Centre, is planning a "burn the Qur'an" day on September 11 and has already outraged Muslims by planting a sign on its front lawn that reads: Islam is the Devil.
The church's senior pastor, Terry Jones, has said he is "exposing Islam for what it is".
"It is a violent and oppressive religion that is trying to masquerade itself as a religion of peace, seeking to deceive our society," the church said. "Islam is a lie based upon lies and deceptions and fear. In Muslim countries, if you preach the gospel or convert to Christianity – you will be killed. That is the type of religion it is."
A leading Muslim educational institution, al-Azhar's Supreme Council in Egypt, has accused the Florida church of "stirring up hate and discrimination" and called on other American churches to condemn it.
Many religious leaders have spoken out against Muslim-bashing, including rabbis in New York who have defended the plans for the mosque two blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks, which would not be visible from Ground Zero.
But John Esposito, director of the Centre for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, said many Americans shared Jones's views. He said the dispute over the proposed mosque had given cover for more open hostility unleashed after the 9/11 attacks that was evident during the last presidential election when some of Barack Obama's opponents attempted to portray him as a Muslim.
"The World Trade Centre thing has shown that what has been up to now seen as a local issue has gone global and provided an umbrella so that suddenly people feel freer to go public with their objections to Muslims," he said.
"Historically we've had problems in Mississippi or Georgia or New York or wherever when someone wants to establish a mosque.
"The cover for opposition used to be that people will say: we're not really prejudiced but it'll affect the traffic in the area, not facing the fact that it is very common if you have a significant number of Jews or Protestants or Catholics to expect that they're going to want to have a synagogue or a church and chances are the town's going to go along with it."
But today, Americans increasingly no longer shy away from saying they oppose mosques on the grounds that Muslims are a threat or different.
In New York, a group called the American Freedom Defence Initiative is placing adverts on New York buses showing a plane flying into one of the World Trade Centre towers and what it calls a "Mega Mosque" and asking "Why There?".
Azeem Khan, of the Islamic Circle of North America, said the bus adverts promoted fear and hatred. "People want Islam and Muslims to be the bogeyman right now," he said.
The issue is increasingly being exploited by politicians in the run-up to November's mid-term elections. Opposition to a mosque in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, intensified after Republican candidates for Congress and state governor made opposition part of their campaigns.
Sarah Palin, the former vice presidential candidate, has been a vocal opponent of the controversial New York mosque.
Other prominent politicians have cast the net wider. Newt Gingrich, the Republican former speaker of the House of Representatives, who is thought likely to make a run for president, has warned that Muslims are attempting to impose sharia law in the US and that it poses a "mortal threat to freedom" in America.
Gingrich said that he would push for legislation to prevent states from adopting sharia law even though none are proposing it and there is no likely prospect of it happening.
Esposito said politicians' fearmongering over Muslims was similar to exploitation of fears that the country was being swamped by a tide of illegal immigrants.
"Islamophobia is not just about religion. It's about people who are of colour and a whole set of presuppositions about these people," he said.
"You can see it not only with Muslims but with Mexicans, people who look Hispanic. Now we have hard data from Gallup and Pew that demonstrate in America how integrated the vast majority of Muslims are – economically, politically and religiously. And yet a significant number of Americans can be appealed to in what is nothing less than hate speech, the same hate speech directed against immigrants."
Hostile messages
• Members of an evangelical church in Texas travelled to Connecticut to verbally attack worshippers leaving a mosque in Bridgeport, carrying signs reading: "Jesus hates Muslims"
• In Tennessee, Republican politicians have condemned plans to build a large Muslim centre in Murfreesboro. Hundreds of people have joined protests

Show AllI guess Muslims occupy the place formerly occupied by Jews - seems like a repeat of Krystallnacht might not be far off.
Bingo!
Again as much as the MIGHYmites deny this motivated out of bigotry and racism this should make it clear that the protests against the mosque near 9/11 are motivated by EXACTLY that.
This is not a matter of "bad manners" on the part of those wishing to build that Mosque. If those behind the construction of the Mosque are forced to back down and relocate, these protests will become commonplace across the USA.
One cannot combat bigotry by giving them such "Victories".
It's the warmongering Christians that worry me !
I agree gonzonews. Robertson and the rest of his ilk insult the name of religion and should be called a churchinsanity cult. They and their minions are nothing but hypocritical, cheerleaders for the MIC and the only difference is they wave and shake their Bibles instead of pom poms!
Just remember, if the Romans were still holding their "games" in the Colosseum, the score would now be Christians 1, Lions 0.
Better a worshipping muslim than these drunken "christians".
"Not that this is a purely 'red state' phenomenon. A correspondent points out that naked anti-Muslim racism is emerging in liberal redoubts such as Seattle, where local sex columnist Dan Savage has engaged in vitriolic attacks on 'Muslim culture'. Here, traditional American nativism, imperial ideology, and pro-Israel doctrine are fusing into a vicious racist brew that, incubated by the 'war on terror', is now being used to buttress the prospects of the most reactionary class warriors for the rich, as a new recession looms."
–(Richard Seymour, "Lenin's Tomb" blog)
And New York, is not a 'Red State' because it votes Democratic?
The American electoral distinction between 'red' and 'blue' states only serves to reenforce how severely delimited, uniform and incoherent are the true basis of American politics.
Even California, the self professed and putatively most 'liberal' state in America may not be a red state, as for example, Kansas is a red state but it is a neo fascist state.
Let a 1000 Mosques bloom!
Just shows to go ya that the Christ-tards are just as murderous, petty, bigoted and nasty as the Mus-tards.
Allowing ANY religio-tard to have a say in political affairs is flat out wrong, unless he can bring reason and the constitution to the argument.
I SOOOO look forward to the "rapture": a win-win for us atheists.
yeah, will we finally get rid of them?............
'jesus hates muslims'............give me a break!!!
Yeah, but on the down side, I gather we'll be left here with you.
Oh, it won't be so bad. I drink Irish whiskey and go to bed early, and, at 66, I know thousands of old, bad jokes.
I'll be glad to join you, with my single-malt whiskey and a few ribald songs I learned in the Army back in the 1950s.
Yep, in 1996, an Irishman and myself had prayer meeting once a week in the Sahara of Algeria. If we met in my room, we started with Jim Beam - in his room, an Irish whiskey, and we were studying the Bible. I met many fine Muslims that year and very few fine Christians, other than the Irishman.
Islam is pretty much an outgrowth of Christianity. There’s only one God. In Islam Jesus is revered above Moses, above Abraham and Isaac, above Isaiah. Jesus’s mother Mary gets her own chapter in the Koran. According to Islam, believing in any one of the many Jewish/Christian faiths is clearly better than being an unbeliever.
Some non-Christian Jewish roots became incorporated into Islam. For example, Islam prohibits the eating of pork, and Friday night services after sunset at the mosque are important.
Muslims have exactly the same theological problems as Christians when they are asked to kill people in God’s name, namely, that Jesus preached against war. “Love your enemies” translates rather directly into “Don’t kill them”. The Islamic prophet Muhammad was quite disappointed in one of his disciples who killed zealously but indiscriminately in Allah’s name. God was disappointed in Cain who killed his brother and then lied to God about it.
The problem for both Christians and Muslims is that we live in a world of money-loving, war-loving kings, tyrants and demagogues. Invading another country is a well-known way for an oligarch’s friends to steal the other country’s wealth and also to make the other country’s people into near-slaves. Under this pressure, the home country's Christianity and/or Islam must be either effectively neutered or crushed completely. Rome couldn’t crush Christianity. Communism has had a hard time crushing both Christianity and Islam outright. Therefore, modern oligarchs often prefer to neuter the parts of these religions that most affect their profit margins.
Millions of Christians and Muslims manage to kill human beings in the name of “political expediency”, which is not a Christian, a Jewish or an Islamic religious value. Once political expediency is king, people have to fabricate and promote military hymns such as “Onward Christian Soldiers”, and “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”. These hymns justify various wars to a country’s soldiers and citizens.
The true and original meaning of the word “jihad” was fighting a battle of faith within one’s self. In a striking parallel to Christian war justification efforts, the term “jihad” has recently been painted with a suicide-bombers against the world meaning because of political expediency. This war-justifying meaning of “jihad” is a political twisting of a religious concept, a clever but fraudulent use of the original term.
Good comment! If one lives with Muslim families, and/or reads the Holy Qur'an, he will find it to be a gentle religion, full of love and caring. Muslims are forbidden to go to war except in self-defense. Muslims are forbidden to make war on women, children or the elderly. Self-immolation such as suicide bombing is forbidden.
Most Muslims hate this endless warfare. When I was in Sumatra, it was during Ayatollah Khomeini's reign in Iran. I was told over and over, "That is not Islam, Steve, it is politics."
One must wonder at times whether, if your nation is attacked and occupied by an enormously powerful force which does make war on women, children and the elderly, which destroys villages, strafes, bombs and sends missiles into weddings and funerals, captures, tortures and executes people, you might not be justified in fighting back with whatever is at hand to drive the invaders out of your country? This is not terrorism except in the eyes of the occupier. It is an heroic and patriotic defense of your country against overwhelming odds. Self defense is approved of in the Holy Qur'an, as a last resort.
As to Sharia Law, that is separate from the Holy Qur'an. That is a body of law put together according to certain scholars interpretation of the Holy Qur'an and of customs and actions down the years. (Like our Legal Precedents) Some Muslims follow Sharia Law and some don't.
We've had Muslim communities here in the US for many years. They are civilized, non-violent people who, just like any other citizen, have loved their country, worked hard and have tried to raise their families, provide a home, educate their children, have wholesome food for them to eat and, decent medical care when needed.
In 1941-42, 99% of the Japanese who were uprooted from their homes and placed in concentration camps were patriotic Americans. Their sons proved it by entering the services and, in some cases, had the highest casualty rate, and the greatest number of decorations for valor in the military.
Their parents, sisters and younger brothers were still in the camps. For most of these people, it was a disaster, for when they were sent to the camps, their goods and properties were seized and sold, usually to the wealthy.
Sadly, I fear that the United States is reverting to a past which we all hoped had been put to rest, just changing the target of the hate.
I'm old enough to remember the signs, "Dogs and niggers, keep off the grass." Now, it will probably be "Dogs and Muslims..."
With the misnamed Patriot Act, our Constitution was trashed along with the Bill of Rights. Virtually every one of those first ten amendments has now been violated in myriad ways.
Amendment 1. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Thomas Jefferson worked long and hard to get the Virginia Statute of Religious Freedom adopted. This established that a person's beliefs (or non-belief) were his alone. It was nobody else's business.
Now, we are scrapping all of that for jingoistic sloganizing and fomenting of hatred for anybody that looks or thinks differently than than the WASP's that are stinging our nation to death in the name of greed, expediency and power.
minitrue,
Well stated.
PaulK,
Thank you.
Good post.
Chelsea :)
Any time the building of a church, temple or mosque is stopped, humankind progresses.
All religions should be banned, outlawed, and destroyed.
This is not to say you can't pray, but these religions, when organized, prey upon us.
Down with them all. If I were to recite the evil religion his done in the name of a god, I would have to write volumes.
John Lennon: " Imagine there is no heaven--it easy if you try--there is no hell below us above us only sky--Imagine there is no country's--it isn't hard to do--nothing to kill or die for--and no religion too ".I think John would agree with you DCH!
>>I would have to write volumes.
You could start with those great men of religion, Stalin and Mao. Perhaps you could document all those great slaughters?
>>All religions should be banned, outlawed, and destroyed.
Herein lies the crux of the biscuit. What defect of human mind leads a man to believe that his thoughts and ideas are superior to the point that he should force them upon another human being? You see it in men of both religion and non-religion.
I would like to convert you to my religion, Leftianity, the fundamental arm of Leftlam. Unfortunately, I am not able to take on members as the first rule of the great mystery is that no other people can join. This is based on the words of the great prophet Groucho Marx who said that I would never want to belong to a religion that would have me as a member. Ergo, I had to ban membership.
It's not just Islamophobia, it's xenophobia. The same "Christians" (y'know, they believe in turning the other cheek, doing to others as they want others to do to them, caring for the sick and imprisoned, not killing/stealing/lieing/having affairs/coveting, etc) are also the same folk who are up in arms about immigration and support foreign wars of aggression against different cultures.
It is worth repeating TheProf's prescient words earlier in this thread: "Muslims occupy the place formerly occupied by Jews - seems like a repeat of Krystallnacht might not be far off."
Analysing the photo says it all; angry, fat, middle-aged white guy dressed in Hawaiin print and US flag picks on a youngster.
An FYI for the bigots:
The THRONE VERSE
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
Allah! There is no God but He,
the Living, the Self-subsisting, the Eternal.
No slumber can seize Him, nor sleep.
All things in heaven and earth are His.
Who could intercede in His presence without His permission?
He knows what appears in front of and behind His creatures.
Nor can they encompass any knowledge of Him except what he wills.
His throne extends over the heavens and the earth,
and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them,
for He is the Highest and Most Exalted.
Allah, the Most High, speaks the truth.
THE LIGHT VERSE:
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth. The Parable of His Light is as if there were a Niche and within it a Lamp: the Lamp [is] enclosed in Glass: the glass [is] as it were a brilliant star: lit from a blessed Tree, an Olive, neither of the East nor of the West, whose oil is well nigh luminous, though fire scarce touched it: Light upon Light! Allah doth guide whom He will to His Light: Allah doth set forth Parables for men and Allah doth know all things.
Seems to be a repetition of "I - I - I - I." Narcissism, under any name, is man's ancient curse.
All sincere religions have the same goals: PURE LOVE and PEACE.
despite the hostile anti-religious comments by many on CD, there ARE some of us who consider ourselves people of faith that believe that God IS peace and justice. We have nothing in common with those who use God to promote hatred and bigotry.
This current wave of anti-Islam hysteria has NOTHING to do with God. It is hatred and fear cloaked in "religious" pretext. It is wolves in sheep's clothing. And it's been done a million times.
But CDer's - please. Malign religious bigotry, but don't insult religious peacemakers as well. And keep God out of it - God has nothing to do with this.
You're right. God has nothing to do with this because gods don't exist.
If you want to live a life devoted to religion, but do it privately, it's your right to do so. The problem with religion, all religions, however, are that they demand exclusivity and scorn other faiths. Fanaticism, bigotry, zealotry and hatred are natural consequences.
The US Constitution is the law of the land and we're a secular nation, all faiths, or no faith at all, are allowed.
All of the US is neutral territory as far as religion is concerned so a Muslim mosque should be allowed near Ground Zero.
Delia_darrow: I agree that the mosque should go whereever any other religious building would be allowed to go.
"Gods don't exist" is your opinion. I do not believe that. I agree entirely that "all faiths, or no faith at all, are allowed".
"all religions ...demand exclusivity and scorn other faiths" is patently untrue.
And it is pretty evident from this blog for one thing that religion has no monopoly on fanaticism, bigotry, zealotry and hatred.
So now according to you speaking against fanaticism, bigotry, zealotry and hatred is considered fanaticism, bigotry, zealotry and hatred? Please.
We're surrounded by bible-thumping thugs, on the streets, on TV, on the internet. They attempt to convert everyone they know or meet, alienating and disrespecting all other denominations not of their own, then attribute their shunning to a fictitious anti-religion sentiment. It's sick, stifling and it happens in every religion, every country.
We don't know if God exists or not--none of us knows for certain as we have no proof either way.
I hope God/heaven does exist as this life on earth has been a tough one for me. One can certainly hope that there's something better after this life.......
Please be respectful of faith others have--so long as they don't tell you what you should or should not believe.
Saying that God doesn't exist isn't disrespectful, it's an opinion.
And "we don't know for sure" isn't a very strong argument, is it?
We don't know for sure about a lot of things, for example, that pigs don't fly. They might when no one is looking. Are you 100% certain that pigs don't fly when you're not looking? I firmly believe they fly.
lol Whenever I try to give christians a break, I think of Sbrenica, the Mountain Meadows Massacre, the Siege of Magdeburg, the taking of Jerusalem by the first Crusade, the Crusade against the Albigensians, and the hanging of my eighth great grandmother, Susannah North Martin, at Salem by the nice United Church of Christ folks.
This collective hatred between the people of different monotheist faiths is part of the hatred they have for all people who are not like them. It has been going on since the religions were invented.
Any attempt to deny the connection between monotheism and this hatred is proven blatantly false by an extraordinarily bloody recorded history.
Any analysis, both logical and historical reveals that monotheism is the worship of self; a tribalism on steroids.
Mankind needs to face up to this. Monotheists won't because they believe they are God and God is perfect. In reality, they are children, but not like children as Jesus would have them.
Ironically it is Islam that in its acceptance of the religious figures of others, comes closest to breaking out of tribalism. But like both Judaism and Christianity it will never effectively become an adult religion until it dispenses with its singular understanding of one God.
God is to all as they see him. Any who deny the validity of another's view, any who will not worship with the other in his place, worships the Devil.
"The World Trade Centre thing has shown that what has been up to now seen as a local issue has gone global and provided an umbrella so that suddenly people feel freer to go public with their objections to Muslims," he said.
The "World Trade Centre thing" is the fundamental problem.
Two planes cause three skyscrapers to fall totally, symmetrically and at the acceleration of gravity?
What are you trying to say? It was the structural damage from the impact of the planes, the super hot jet fuel that brought the buildings down!
Except World Trade Center Building 7 (47 stories) was not hit by a plane, and there was no jet fuel......so you'll have to come up with some other silly excuse.
....not to mention the iron microspheres found in the dust by three different teams of scientists. Iron does not melt till 2800F...the jet fuel fires could not get above 1800F in ideal circumstances which these clearly were not even that.
Not to mention the unreacted thermetic chips found it the dust. Oh, you did not read about it in the corporate media? Gee, why am I not surprised?
Then the buildings, particularly WTC7 fell through itself at free fall acceleration......just don't tell Isaac Newton that please...
The official government agency NIST charged with investigating the collapses first claimed in their press conference in August 2008 that WTC7 fell "approximately 40% longer that the computed free fall time and was consistent with physical principles."
So in other words had WTC7 entered a state of free fall it would not be consistent with the laws of physics.
But then in their final report released in November of 2008 they stated that WTC7 entered "a freefall descent over approximately eight stories at gravitational acceleration for approximately 2.25 s[econds]"
Checkmate! First they say that free fall is impossible and it did not happen, and they of course would be correct if the only energy available was from gravity which they tell us is the case.
But then when challenged the admit that WTC7 did indeed fall at the acceleration of gravity for 2-1/4 seconds.
If WTC7 fell at free fall for any duration it could not have been from gravity alone. That would violate the laws of physics.
Any discussion of 9/11 has to be looked at through the prism of: is the underlying story even true? The story could not be any more false. How big a lie does a lie have to be?
The cover up of 911 has to be right up there with the MLK,JFK, and the RFK cover ups. What a perfect myth, story the WTC building #7 would make for Myth Busters, but I was told they were told " not to go there". I was mentioning WTC 7 the other day to someone and they said it was caused by the concussion from the WTC devastation! The American people are so dumbed down! Jesse Ventura's Conspiracy shows, I am told, were canceled even though he had the #1 rated show on the network. The real conspiracy is the U.S. Governments cover ups and lies and that is not a conspiracy theory, that is a fact!
The NIST report on WTC7 never made any such silly claim about "the concussion from the WTC devastation." You cannot just manufacture something out of thin air that the official US government agency, tasked by congress with explaining to the American people exactly why the buildings fell, are not even peddling.
The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) has committed there lies to paper. Stick to their attacking their lies without manufacturing your own.
NIST now says in their final report that the deisel fuel stored in the building played no role in the collapse. So that one is out the window. They not say the structural damage to the south face of WTC7 caused by the collapse [controlled demoltion] of the north tower played no role in the collapse except to start the fires that they claim led to the collapse. So structural damage yadda yadda yadda is out the window.
"Iron does not melt till 2800F..."
Actually, iron metls at around 2,000F, which is why potters' kilns are made of clay. And 2,000F is not significantly different from 1,800F, assuming that the temperatures can be estimated accurately.
But beyond that, I think it is time to apply Occam's razor to the wealth of conspiracy theories about 9/11.
If the government was responsible for the events, it would have done a better job of constructing evidence. For example, if you know about things like date/time markings on surveillance tapes, don't you think that the shadowy government conspirators would know about them? If so, why didnt' they insert the markings?
Going further, you say "First they say that free fall is impossible and it did not happen, and they of course would be correct if the only energy available was from gravity which they tell us is the case."
What other source of energy causes things to fall, other than gravity? Were space aliens directing laser beams at the debris that fell? That makes as much sense as a giant government conspiracy.
Getting back to Occam's razor, the simplest explanation is usually the safest one to assume.
Actually, iron metls at around 2,000F, which is why potters' kilns are made of clay. And 2,000F is not significantly different from 1,800F, assuming that the temperatures can be estimated accurately.
Please stop peddeling your nonsense!
According to http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_the_melting_point_of_iron
Iron melts at 2797F. Please stop making up nonsense out of thin air.
The only way steel which melts around 2500F (http://education.jlab.org/qa/meltingpoint_01.html) can melt at a lower temperature is if it is combined into a eutectic compound.
According to Joan Killough-Miller, "The 'Deep Mystery' of Melted Steel," WPI Transformations, Spring 2002, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (www.wpi.edu/News/Transformations/2002/ Spring/steel.html):
"A eutectic compound is a mixture of two or more substances that melts at the lowest temperature of any mixture of its components. Blacksmiths took advantage of this property by welding over fires of sulfur-rich charcoal, which lowers the melting point of iron. In the World Trade Center fire, the presence of oxygen, sulfur and heat caused iron oxide and iron sulfide to form at the surface of structural steel members. This liquid slag corroded through intergranular channels into the body of the metal, causing severe erosion and a loss of structural integrity. "The important questions," says Biederman, "are how much sulfur do you need, and where did it come from?"
According to FEMA....
Evidence of a severe high temperature corrosion attack on the steel, including oxidation and sulfidation with subsequent intergranular melting, was readily visible…The severe corrosion and subsequent erosion of Samples 1 [WTC7] and 2 [Towers] are a very unusual event. No clear explanation for the source of the sulfur has been identified.
--- Jonathan Barnett, Ronald R. Biederman, and R. D. Sisson, Jr., “Limited Metallurgical Examination,” Appendix C of World Trade Center Building Performance Study, FEMA, May 2002 (http://www.fema.gov/pdf/library/fema403_apc.pdf)
..."a very unusual event", indeed!
So the steel was attacked by sulfer...but they have no idea where the sulfer came from?
According to the New York Times:
“Perhaps the deepest mystery uncovered in the investigation involves extremely thin bits of steel collected from the trade towers and from 7 World Trade Center, a 47-story high rise that also collapsed for unknown reasons. The steel apparently melted away, but no fire in any of the buildings was believed to be hot enough to melt steel outright. ...A preliminary analysis of the steel at Worcester Polytechnic Institute using electron microscopes suggests that sulfur released during the fires ---no one knows from where --- may have combined with atoms in the steel to form compounds that melt at lower temperatures."
--- James Glanz and Eric Lipton, "A Search for Clues In Towers' Collapse; Engineers Volunteer to Examine Steel Debris Taken to Scrapyards," The New York Times, February 2, 2002, (http://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9C04E0DE153DF931A35751C0A9649C8B63
....sulfur released during the fires --- no one knows from where ?
I have a pretty damn good idea from where, and ain't it ain't from no cave in Afghanistan or from no muslims!
The ONLY reason for people of this country to display such islamophobia is because they don't really know the hiden truth of 9/11. Which is directly the cause of the subverted msm that will not allow the truth to cross the public's air waves, you know, the air waves that slick willie in 1996 passed on to the major broadcast stations FREE OF CHARGE. Plus, through the efforts of the msm, the dumbstream masses are ever more prejudiced against any muslims.
So once again, the failure to completely and thoroughly investigate that attack only harms the u.s. more when the real culprits, born and raised here in the u.s. are the responsible ones with w & dick at the top if for no other reason than it happened on their watch.
First of all I am Jewish. Islamophobia is the new anti-semitism.
Second of all there is not one shred of evidence that Muslims were even on the planes that can survive a serious challenge. All the evidence the 9/11 commission presents, all you have to do is blow on it and it falls apart.
Remember the surveillance tape that show Atta and Alomari checking their bags while getting on the plane. That was in Boston's Logan airport ...right? They were boarding flight 11, the plane he flew into the North Tower...right?
WRONG!!!
That was Atta and Alomari boarding a commuter flight in Portland, Maine at 5:30 in the morning...to fly down to Boston, to transfer to flight 11. (This is page one of the 9/11 Commission Report....................Did you even bother to read it? ....why not???)
There are no surveillance tapes of Atta and Alomari getting on flight 11 in Boston.
There are no surveillance tapes of any hijackers getting on flight 175 in Boston.
There are no surveillance tapes of any hijackers getting on flight 93 in Newark.
However, right around the time the 9/11 Commission Report was released, they released what was supposed to be a surveillance tapes of two of the hijackers getting on flight 77 out of Dullas out of DC.
Except that tape was missing something!
Did you ever see a security/surveillance tape that did not have a date and time stamp in the lower corner? Of course not!
The surveillance tape from Portland, Maine had such a date/time stamp. Any surveillance tape in any gas station or a 7/11 will have a date and time stamp in the lower corner.
The Dullas surveillance tape had no date/time stamp in the lower corner.
That tape is proof of absolutely nothing.
Do you want to go over every silly piece of evidence they claim to have to tie the event to Arab hijackers?
How about the red bandana Siad Al Jarrah was said to have been wearing that was found in the ground in Shanksville. The plane completely was engulfed by the soft earth of the Pennsylvania field and burrowed completely underground ...they tell us (which is why you don't see a plane...just like at the Pentagon where you don't see a plane either) yet the red bandanna managed to fly out the window and land on the ground there they can find it. Paaaalllllleeeeazzzzzzzzz.........
How about the cell phone calls? You want to try to make a cell phone call from 30,000 feet? You get disconnected while going sixty miles an hour on the ground, let alone 450 an hour at 10,000 feet, 20,000 feet, 30,000 feet.
Give me a freakin' break! You have to be an complete idiot to swallow this garbage.
9/11 as the media has reported it is most likely a total fabrication--but let's just say some Muslims were responsible for 9/11. The alledged action of some individuals are not the fault/responsibility of millions of Muslims who reside all over this world who live peaceful, lawful and normal lives.
BTW, I never heard of anyone blaming all Irish individuals for the IRA bombings....just a thought.....
There are more holes in the Official story than a cheese grater.
Nothing changes the crazy course this nation has been taken on until the truth is exposed about 911.
It was a coup that took care of many loose ends that day, particularly with the records that were kept in the towers relevant to Der Herrmeister Rumsfelds admission the day prior of $2.3 Trillion unaccounted for in the DoD.
Who gave the stand down orders?
What happened to the original Citgo tape?
How did Bldg 7 come down in freefall?
How to explain the numerous explosions that firefighters and tower employees heard in the basements long before the fall?
How to explain the nano-thermite found in debris?
Why was the evidence removed post haste at such a large crime scene?
Who wrote and had prepared for submittal the PATRIOT bill within a week?
And on and on and on...........
Aside from the financial system and the banksters cleaning this country out, it is the largest fraud ever perpetrated on the American public........and how many seem to care?
Sad Sad Sad...........
Hatered and scapegoating of religious or ethnic or political groups have a long history. The native americans, the blacks, the jews, the irish, the communists, now the muslims.
We are on a slippery slope.
"We are on a slippery slope."
And sliding down it at the acceleration of gravity.
I agree...we should all protest conservatives' incitement of hatred because we could all be on the receiving end, if we're women, gays, a minority religion, or the disability...of which I am on w/ a disability...this is why equal rights r vital.
Build the Mosque--it's two blocks away from ground zero-- not on it!
Newsflash--Muslims are Americans too. I can't get over the phobia and hatred some have for these folks--and what's with Newt Gingrich saying since Mecca has no churches or temples therefore we should not build anymore mosques in the US--WTF? This is America--we're a melting pot--HELLO! It doesn't matter what Saudi Arabia does--that's on them--we're supposed to be a multi-cultural society.
Newt needs to get his head out of his ass!
About ground zero--I don't feel that anything should be built on that spot unless it's a memorial for those who died (BTW,Muslims died there too)--a beautiful memorial/meditation garden full of flowers and light would be lovely.
Anyone up for forming a country with no religion?
The US was once a secular nation. Follow any religion that you want, just don't push it in my face. I suggest the US be cleansed of christian ideologues, or at least they be marginalized, and that the nation get back to the law of the constitution.
You will always have your Tony Perkins' out there, but they don't need to be paid attention to.
IMAGINE!
In one of my earlier posts referring to the building of a Mosque a couple of blocks away from Ground Zero, I said that,
