Highly Regarded Voting Rights Lawyers Will Make Outstanding Federal Judges

Wade Henderson, interim president and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, released the following statement on President Biden’s nomination of Myrna Pérez to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit; Jia M. Cobb to the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia; and Sarala V. Nagala, Judge Sarah A. L. Merriam, and Judge Omar A. Williams to the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut:

“We applaud President Biden for his outstanding nominations to our federal courts. This administration understands that our courts are in critical need of judges who are highly qualified, possess a deep commitment to civil and human rights, have various professional experiences, and look like America. We are especially pleased with the nomination of voting rights expert Myrna Pérez to the Second Circuit, and applaud the president and Senate Majority Leader Schumer for recommending such a highly regarded voting rights attorney

“With all of the challenges Americans face in accessing the ballot box, our judiciary will greatly benefit from the service of judges with this vital experience. The Senate must quickly move to confirm these outstanding nominees.”
