The FBI has been accused of covering up a file detailing government dealings with a network stealing nuclear secrets
The FBI has been accused of covering up a key case file detailing evidence against corrupt government officials and their dealings with a network stealing nuclear secrets.
The assertion follows allegations made in The Sunday Times two weeks ago by Sibel Edmonds, an FBI whistleblower, who worked on the agency's investigation of the network.
Edmonds, a 37-year-old former Turkish language translator, listened into hundreds of sensitive intercepted conversations while based at the agency's Washington field office.
She says the FBI was investigating a Turkish and Israeli-run network that paid high-ranking American officials to steal nuclear weapons secrets. These were then sold on the international black market to countries such as Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
One of the documents relating to the case was marked 203A-WF-210023. Last week, however, the FBI responded to a freedom of information request for a file of exactly the same number by claiming that it did not exist. But The Sunday Times has obtained a document signed by an FBI official showing the existence of the file.
Edmonds believes the crucial file is being deliberately covered up by the FBI because its contents are explosive. She accuses the agency of an "outright lie".
"I can tell you that that file and the operations it refers to did exist from 1996 to February 2002. The file refers to the counterintelligence programme that the Department of Justice has declared to be a state secret to protect sensitive diplomatic relations," she said.
The freedom of information request had not been initiated by Edmonds. It was made quite separately by an American human rights group called the Liberty Coalition, acting on a tip-off it received from an anonymous correspondent.
The letter says: "You may wish to request pertinent audio tapes and documents under FOIA from the Department of Justice, FBI-HQ and the FBI Washington field office."
It then makes a series of allegations about the contents of the file - many of which corroborate the information that Edmonds later made public.
Edmonds had told this newspaper that members of the Turkish political and diplomatic community in the US had been actively acquiring nuclear secrets. They often acted as a conduit, she said, for Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), Pakistan's spy agency, because they attracted less suspicion.
She claimed corrupt government officials helped the network, and venues such as the American-Turkish Council (ATC) in Washington were used as drop-off points.
The anonymous letter names a high-level government official who was allegedly secretly recorded speaking to an official at the Turkish embassy between August and December 2001.
It claims the government official warned a Turkish member of the network that they should not deal with a company called Brewster Jennings because it was a CIA front company investigating the nuclear black market. The official's warning came two years before Brewster Jennings was publicly outed when one of its staff, Valerie Plame, was revealed to be a CIA agent in a case that became a cause celèbre in the US.
The letter also makes reference to wiretaps of Turkish "targets" talking to ISI intelligence agents at the Pakistani embassy in Washington and recordings of "operatives" at the ATC.
Edmonds is the subject of a number of state secret gags preventing her from talking further about the investigation she witnessed.
"I cannot discuss the details considering the gag orders," she said, "but I reported all these activities to the US Congress, the inspector general of the justice department and the 9/11 commission. I told them all about what was contained in this case file number, which the FBI is now denying exists.
"This gag was invoked not to protect sensitive diplomatic relations but criminal activities involving US officials who were endangering US national security."

If you are worried about hydrogen bombs, you don't have to look any farther then your own back yard --
The Case of the Missing H-Bomb
Lets hear who those top governmental officials are. I hope this story isn't suppressed and that hidden treacherous acts by key govenment officials are disclosed. Begin with REagan and his aides who also betrayed the American people with lies and secret actions that involved the killing of thousands of innocent people in South America. /corruption is the game in Washington and has been since Nixon.
Why would anyone risk their life to lie about the actions of people who have no problem torturing and murdering tens of thousands of people? It is hard to believe how amazingly gullible people can be about such things. We accept the official story about Al Qaeda springing out of the desert with the hell inspired mission of destroying our freedoms, and then scratch our heads when the facts make no sense based on this collectively held fantasy. The fact is that we created the mujahudin and put their names on a database, which is now referred to as "The Base" or Al Qaeda in Arabic. When Osama was allowed to walk out of Afghanistan, and an American commander Gary Bernston, had to be denied soldiers and relieved of command in order to facilitate this, we should have said, gosh, this doesn't fit the fantasy. This however fits perfectly with the discredited and rarely heard idea that bin Laden is an ally of our government. Was it an accident that heroin was reduced to nearly nothing by the Taliban but has made an incredible resurgence under our occupation? Not according to what Sibel read. Was it just an amazing screwup that Cheney who asserted in a VP debate with Edwards that keeping weapons of mass destruction out of the hands of terrorists was his top priority, had just destroyed Valerie Plame's Brewster Jennings and the whole network she had built to do just that? Sibel read that the network was getting in the way of Cheney and his disgusting partner's sale of those very things to the highest bidder.
Learn every thing you can about what this brave and wonderful woman has to say. She can help cure our collective ignorance.
Sibel is hot! HOT! That is some stand-up woman! Just the way I like'm! STANDING UP!
dreamertoo you mean if a whole government told you to shut up you would? Even if it was against your prime beliefs? You better not type here, you could get on some list the MAN will find!
Jane hears ticking in the next room. She recognizes the sound of a ticking bomb. She rushes into the room and flips on the light. No one in 10,000 square miles knows what happened next.
I may be wrong, but something about this tells me that Sibel may not have received or taken the wisest counsel. I would caution everyone against oversimplifying our current situation.
Well KENDPOTTER, don't know your age, but when it happened, the two college boys were grilled by the feds for several hours, for a couple of days. It was pretty big news and NOT an urban legand.
Also, the first atomic bomb being designed at the Manhatten Project was the "gun type fission" procedure. They changed their plans and went with the implosion type. __ The first atomic bomb dropped on Japan was a uranium bomb, the second was plutonium. Check it out.
I love you Sibel.. keep speaking because the People hear you and believe you. F*ck the gag order!
Hmmmm? Isreali involvement? You don't suppose this is the reason for no MSM coverage do you?

Perhaps government agencies should avoid becoming black market organizations.
Information is a fluid. It flows in one direction only: out of containers. Einstein understood the futility of keeping nuclear secrets, though given the scope of the consequences you can't blame them for trying. The mistake was not in failing to halt the proliferation of nukes, but in conceiving them to begin with. Like Rosemary's baby, all future catastrophes were contained in that one birth event. The cracks and fissures through which deadly information seeps, the Julius and Ethyl Rosenbergs and their innumerable clones, may be assumed to exist. They may be suspected or discovered or documented or left unseen, but it is just predictable seepage from the Promethean wizards of Alamagordo to the lunatics who, instead of responsibly storing horror bombs, will actually detonate them. Our concern that these secrets may fall into the "wrong hands" is a little confusing, considering that they started out in the hands of Harry Truman.
It now looks like the Axis of Evil includes not only Iran, North Korea and Syria, but also the FBI, and perhaps even the White House. How d'ya like them apples?
Whatever you want to think is fine with me Ken.
KEM,
I sincerely doubt it was perfect. Anyone who actually knows wouldn't say so and they certainly wouldn't point out your mistakes so that you could correct them. This has to fall in the realm of urban legend.
As for your mistakes, I will happily point them out. You stated that it was a hydrogen bomb. A hydrogen bomb is a fusion device in which the fusion portion is termed the secondary. The primary is a plutonium fission device that is used as a candle to "light" the secondary. The heat, shock wave, and neutron pulse (aided by a neutron generator) work to fuse the heavy hydrogen in the lithium deuteride and tritium fuel contained in the secondary. The primary is always plutonium, never uranium. Before you ask, I can't tell you why.
So either your statement about it being a hydrogen bomb is wrong, or your statement:
"The one designed by the two college students was the "gun type fission" procedure, which is much simpler in theory."
is wrong.
Personally, I think the whole thing is a bunch of B.S., er excuse me, urban legend.
Ken
So there, told ya so.
A good place for understanding the story about how small groups could make nuclear bombs is the book Nuclear Terrorism by Graham Allison. He is head of the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. The book is comprehensive.
Hi There NSPIRE. I have not seen you post for awhile and thought maybe you had caught a cold and couldn't speak, or maybe were digging a hideout, or on vacation or something. Great to see you here.
Yeah you're right. And for crying out loud, a incredible situation is, about half of our military hardware, spare parts for military aircraft and vehicles, is now manufactured in China. That is insane and is a PRIME example of what has happend to our manufacturng complex in the United States.
The government's moles sure are stupid and do not realize when they are being tossed to the carnel house like so much chum so they can be a diversion!
KEM -- Remember the gov't news leaks, it was all very purposeful "IN-security" leaks?
The entire "war plan" for hundreds of years has always required leaking of the newest technology to the other side to create the tension to escalate even more (but not right away all of it). We need the bomber gap, missile gap, deterrent gap, interceptor gap, submarine gap, … gap - to drive profits
If we don't have a new enemy readily available, we'll just create a new one, or re-cycle an old one, as the point is to run up the MIC's production and profits
Hi Galen. Yes indeed, I understand the implosion type atomic bomb is quite complicated. The one designed by the two college students was the "gun type fission" procedure, which is much simpler in theory.
The nuclear scientists were highly impressed and stated their design was PERFECT. That is not half bad.
To me, PER-FECT mean, it is quite possible for some smart duds, to build an atomic bomb that could indeed work properlyas designed, "IF" they have the necessary materials, and the important blue prints, available.
My point is and was, atomic weapon blue prints ARE readily available for ANYONE, and that blows me away. Why should they EVER have been available to the general public? There is a clearance classification called,__"The Need To Know".__ Evidently, that security was not adhered to in respect to atomic weaponry.
In 1979, a national controversy erupted when The Progressive magazine printed an article describing the hydrogen bomb's basic engineering principles. ...
There was a legal fight over this and you can google many articles about it.
Sheeeit! That ain't hard to predict! Of course the UK will side with Europe, the same as that conglomeration of little countries will discern their best interest and reject those scumbag refugees from the good ole' U.S. of A. There can only be one choice when intelligent people are faced with death or continuity.

My compliments for your astute commentary. And like you, then I'll have been suckered if Sibel Edmonds is lying.
The first time I ever heard of her was when she appeared on Amy Goodman's 'DEMOCRACYNOW!' program, propably five or six years ago. She was a translator for the FBI and if I remember correctly, she spoke about the 9/11 incident and conversations among the Saudi hijackers and the government's reluctance to follow up on the intelligence data. As I said above, I can't retain so much information from all the scandals going on, ever since the 2000 election. She seemed sincere to myself and others as we discussed the circumstances she presented on Amy's show. I think she appeared on the INNReport as well. The woman is courageous and I admire her.
www.globalresearch.ca is one of the better sites for honest reporting.
One thing for sure, Mike. The United States has reneged on our end of the bargain to reduce our stockpile of WMD ( I hate to use the coward-in-chief's words ) and in polite terms, Vladimar Putin reprimanded the good ol' USA, without mentioning our name, before the European Union last year at a formal meeting. In fact, I read the speech on Global Research.CA. So what's a leader to do? Re-arm and start another costly arms race in order to defend Mother Russia from these greedy, lying, gangsters in Washington,D.C. and the 'two-party' political prostitutes who don't represent the common people anymore.
My feeling in all of this, is when push comes to shove, Europe will side with Russia and not with the United States. England, while still our comrade-in-crime, will eventually break with the world's only 'super-bully' and side with continental Europe.
Our government has been 'Shanghied' and is up for bid.
KEM: If I recall correctly, when you place a critical mass of uranium or putonium together, unless you squeeze it with specially shaped explosive lenses, all you get is a chain reaction that releases a SHITLOAD of lethal Gamma radiation and cascade secondary Beta radiation, and results in a lump of melted radioactive metal, not an explosion. If that were the case, the first victim of Americam nuclear experimentation would have had alot of company in the Manhattan Project labs. I don't remeber his name at the moment, but a lab accident basiclly started a chain reaction when the two halves came together unexpectedly. He separated them with his hands. And died of radiation poisoning a few days later.
Nuclear weapons are cranky, finiky technological devices. And all you need to disable one is a hammer.
Even naming countries as the criminal antagonists is not sufficient, because if such is alowed then many of the individual criminals will go free and unpunished and impunity is not going to be a pillar of the New World Society. When it gets down to the basics of reality, it is criminals who order and who fulfill the criminal acts, and it is those people who must pay the price of their crimes. Letting the "bosses" live a life of luxury in exile is not acceptable in the "New World" of moral organization. They will have to trade far more than their willingness to leave the scene if they wish to retain their lives after the Revolution.

NOTHING NEW in that, we should all know by now. A lot of reporting is done based on anon. sources; the most said about them being what govt they work for, and which agency or dept of the govt.
Who knows; maybe the anon. source Times UK is referring to is actually Sibel Edmonds. It's possible; a human could do that.
But even if it's not her, then what's important is getting the file that was crminally, despotically, ... rendered secret by the DoJ's additional "stamp" and on the basis that revealing what it says would supposedly endanger 'national security' when what's clear is that the document tells us what dangers there internally and treasonously are to U.S. national security.
If that document's obtained, then who Mr or Ms Anon. is does NOT matter at all; very likely not at all anyway.

..."
Fine enough post, but Israel needs to be stopped for more reasons; far from only with regards to its threats against Iran. Israel must be stopped LONG AGO already and for what it has done and keeps doing to Palestinians, Lebanese, and others, which includes countries and peoples in Africa, not only in the Middle East. And that means both Israel and the U.S. must be stopped for we know the U.S. backing and protection of Israel, and the UNSC always and criminally folding to the criminal vetoes of the U.S., are all guilty in these Israeli crimes; topmost guilty.
Having to use descriptors such as "...corrupt government officials helped the network..." is misleading because it seems to imply that there are actually honest government officials. The phrase should have been prefaced with something like "...some of the..." so that a false impression was not engendered. It does seem rather brave of the young woman to speak out against the known criminal gangs which give themselves such adulationist names like the "FBI", considering that a different branch of the same criminal organization killed Chandra Levy and buried her under a parking lot and then let everybody in the industry know about it so that they would be too scared to speak out about the reality of the change in the geopolitical (or extraterrestrial?) situation that the world finds itself in.
And that incident also speaks volumes about the kind of reprehensible scumbags that masquerade as human beings and who are controlling the lives of so many others. That they would think nothing of confiding such secrets to a beautiful young girl so that they could impress her with their own importance while expressing their own wonder, and then remorselessly have her killed when she sought to convey to her mother the extraordinary good news. But then, killing Chandra Levy was nothing out of the ordinary for the kind of worthless scum which make up the U.S. and other corporate governments, since, after all, such beautiful girls and boys are only brought to the halls of power so that they can be fucked on a temporary, and extramarital, basis.

'i also thought that it was common knowledge that the ability to build a nuclear device had been available to the general public for decades....'
i believe you are right in this assumption, as i once heard on radio over 30 years ago, that indeed, it was very easy to make a nuclear bomb. the only difficulty was in obtaining the materials to make it. since that time, it would appear that several amounts of nuclear device making materials have gone 'astray'.................i wonder where they are.
Thank you Stiv Whitman for the Youtube on Sibel.
Several of those highlighted in the video also appear in this article regarding dual Israeli/U.S. citizenship:
http://www.viewzone.com/dualcitizen.html
We all do a lot of reading and research trying hard to ascertain the TRUTH about what is really going on. The MSM is a rock in the stream that we must continue to "go around" in order to find the truth.
I am finding, from all these various "pieces" of the puzzle every diligent reader on CD, Informationclearinghouse, Crooks and Liars, Salon etc. has found, that a picture is emerging. We all know what it is, and it certainly isn't very pretty, is it?
We must all e-mail Waxman on this and follow up with phone calls. While we're at it we should call Pelosi, Conyers, Kucinich and Wexler again and again and again on the issue of impeachment. The best reason I can think of now, beyond all the reasons already stated for impeachment is that Bush/Cheney MUST be prevented from a pre-emptive strike against Iran.
And Israel as well MUST be stopped. Israel should be told in no uncertain terms that all financial and military aid to them will be halted if they pursue military action against Iran.
Go to Informationclearinghouse and look at the bloody mess Israel is creating in Gaza at this moment. There is a major humanitarian crisis there (and lots of other places, sadly).
FBI : Fascists Blocking Investigations
As for the argument of KEM PATRICK and others on why these govt officials would use such secrecy for nuclear black market "business" when information on how to make atomic bombs was already in the public domain, well, maybe Galen provided the or part of the answer in saying, "And we are supposed to belive them about a missing file on who in the government who may have be commiting acts of treason by selling secrets to modern nuclear technology?".
See, '[modern] ... technology'. Although bombs and how to make them has long been known information people could easily enough obtain access to, weapons and bomb technologies have kept "advancing", being "perfected". Bombs of today are more powerful, etc.
Also, we're talking about nuclear BLACK MARKET business, and we know that that's officially criminal. And we're additionally speaking of states being the clients, not just anti-imperialist resistance or opposition fighters or militants. States know that their use of major weapons is meant for war with other states and their military forces, so states seeking more of this black market nuclear information would minimally want to be as deterringly competitive or capable as they can achieve. And the U.S. being the most nuclear-armed country or govt in the world, while it continually works on ever more nuclear arms R&D (research & development), well, the U.S. then is easily understood as being a prime or key source for this sort of secret information.
Why seek it from countries where the nuclear arsenal is comparatively weak when the information can be obtained, via the "right" price, or "bids", from the world's still (for a little while longer) sole military superpower? Not likely. It'd only be done if information on how to make the "better", the "new and improved", the more or most powerful or capable couldn't be obtained.
I've read of Sibel Edmonds' revelations since they first became known, on 9-11 and perhaps in 2002 or 2003, and agree with Rebel Farmer and everyone else who thinks that what she has provided (for readers with enough mind to pay careful attention to what she says) is important.
Sure, always keep an open mind and never follow blindly, as much as it can be avoided; but keeping open minds and not following blindly also means to pay careful attention to what whistleblowers say. And after having read enough from authors I came to know of through www.globalresearch.ca postings, what Ms Edmonds says does not surprise me and is welcome. GR is good for getting a good idea of what's going on and in terms of the top elites, something news media, the msm corp. and the alternative kinds, tend to very much neglect; instead reporting about new killings of Iraqis, and so on. They don't but seldom, if ever, touch upon what really makes the "wheels" of the "war machine" operate; what the "fuel" is, and what makes up the "engine" (Big MIC, Big Oil, Big Agri., ..., CFR, ..., and their real motives, say).
If it should ever turn out that she's been lying instead of telling the truth, then I'll have been suckered; but what she says is certainly credible, realistic, enough to justify paying careful attention to her words. I think she's being truthFUL though.
Do any of you who read the 'New Yorker' magazine remember an article about a year and a half ago about this nuclear espionage group of D.C. insiders selling or giving Israel information about our nuclear weapons? I remember one name. His last name is "Franklin" and I believe he was convicted and is serving time.
So many scandals and crimes in this administration, it is difficult for me to keep up with. The 'New Yorker' is a reputable magazine and does a fine job in research and authentication of facts before a story is published.
abbybwood
Thanks for The link. His name is Lawrence Franklin
It is NOT easy to make a nuclear weapon--fortunately. It is easier to put together a nuclear dud such as the one the North Koreans set off, but in order to obtain high energy yields (explosions in common parlance) you need to have considerable engineering precision in design of a weapon. It is more likely that terrorists would try to get a weapon that is already made. Those are supposed to have multiple safety devices on them. However it is believed that the Pakistani weapons don't have those safety devices. Instead they supposedly are in a dissassembled condition most of the time. Ever since a US military plane with hydrogen bombs on board crashed in N. Carolina in the early sixties, US weapons have redundant safety devices built in.
Oh, master KENDPOTTER sir, could you kindly and please, answer a technical question? Am sure you have the answer. You stated, the critical mass of nuclear materials had to stay together for a long time, 'figuratively speaking', you added, for an atomic explosion to occur.
The question: How long is long? __ One second,__ a split second,__ less? __ Uhhhhhh, one and a half seconds maybe, and can Duck tape be used, or super glue, or what? Once the chunk of plutonium is fired into the rest of the mass, how long before them little atoms begin to go crazy and blow up? ~KA-BOOM~. __If you don't know the answer KEND P old boy, __ you can find it on the internet, or in technical books available to almost anybody.
coco, that was my unstated point. These Top Secret papers must contain what wasn't contained in the books available to the general public.
That's why I mentioned obtaining the uranium to make a bomb and how to move that uranium across borders. Another person also noted that it is no easy feat to maintain the critcal mass necessarry to detonate a nuclear device. I also suspect technological details such as that must have also been in those stolen documents.
And finally, you are correct to note that a lot of weapons grade material has gone missing over the years. It's a good question to ask, "where is this missing enriched uranium today?"
Hi ~HYBRIDOMA and COCO. It is not just enriched uranium that is "missing". By as far back as 1975, 36 years hense, personnel from the Atomic Energy Commission, grudgingly acknowledged to Congress, that several tons of the (very strictly controlled), man made element plutonium, was missing, and unaccounted for. It was presumed to be "lost" in the industrial process. "A rather frightening presumption", as nuclear reseachers and writers Paul Wallechinsky and Irving Wallace so well stated.
~KENDPOTTER~, glad you didn't argue my point, because you are so far more advanced in intelligence than I and of course you could make me look stupider than I actually am.
I will argue with YOU on one point you made with such "intelligent" assumptions on the subject. In spite of your __ as usual__ KENDPOTTER style assumptions, several nuclear scientists stated, the hydrogen bomb the two college students designed, was perfect in EVERY detail. It's diffiult to perfect, perfect.
However it is no argument from me, that there was top secret nuclear weapons info stolen and an FBI coverup about that issue and I'm certain there are many things concerning nuclear weapons that should be kept top secret.
~Bakunin~, have you ever attempted to make one? Perhaps if the technical data was available, (and it is), it may be easy enough for a college grad, who had say a masters degree in nuclear physics, had scrounged or purchsed a few pounds of nuclear material, and had a good friend who owned a machine shop? I sure wouldn't want to be near it, if one were made by some nut, to see if it fizzeled or not.
KEM,
Far be it for me to argue with you about any of the assertions you make considering your own knowledge. As you say, the generalities are well known - Fire one mass of enriched uranium at another and kabloooey.
The devil is in the details. You need the masses to stay together (in a critical mass) for a long time, relatively speaking, for the actual yield to be anywhere near the theoretical yield. The North Koreans haven't figured this part out which is why their test fizzled. The critical mass blew itself apart before it could generate a significant yield.
These details are more in the order of high-level engineering than theory and in that realm, there is no substitute for good lab work and experimentation. Unless of course, you can buy the information form some corrupt bastards like the ones noted above.
Ken
This story has many of the fingerprints of what passes for a legal system in America today:
the State Secrets Privilege, a catchal phrase that trumps any and all testamony and evidence.
The retroactive classifying as "Top Secret" of previously publicly available documents.
The barring of all reporters and the public from the courtroom as well as Edmonds herself.
Sometimes the hardest thing to see is what is right in front of you.
The Anthrax strain was traced to one of our "non-existent" bioweapons labs. Weapons grade Anthrax. That was in the paper for about one day, and the whole thing was dropped. The only use being made of it is to make snail mail take about a week to ten days longer to get to an alleged representative.
FBI & MSM cover-up of nuclear scam:
The global corporatist EMPIRE, which hides behind this facade of a full two-party "Vichy" American government and a fully 'Vichy' MSM, must be confronted and battled in a Second American Revolution even more so than the first against the British Empire.
This latest revelation of the Empire's lies and deceit only reinforce the numerous and compelling proofs we have already seen in foreign imperialist wars and domestic tyranny.
As Hannah Arendt presciently said decades ago:
"Empire abroad (always) entails tyranny at home."
Now we see both --- and we need to clearly see the claw-prints of this global corporatist Empire.
Why is everyone protecting these scoundrels? Poor Sibel Edmonds goes to her superiors, goes to Congress, goes to "60 Minutes", goes to the internet. Everyone, to her face, is like,"oh, how terrible! Somebody ought to do something!" and then does nothing. Elect me to congress. I can do nothing for less money.
Sibel, I can't help. I wish I could, but unlike everyone you have been in contact with, I am in no position to do anything, except to call/e-mail Henry Waxman, like pissing into the wind, to unfurl yet another investigation of this criminal organization in the White House.
But wouldn't it be just as simple to impeach this whole evil adminstration for everything in one big super-investigation?
The Sibel Edmonds Story
The information is all there, in interlocking mysteries and allegations. It'll make a great book. Pity the public throughout the civilised world may well never hear the whole disgusting tale of corrupt leadership that really should bring down any pretense of credibility for American Politics with its three houses of checks and balances.
The media are not there for the Public's benefit. No Sir-eee!!
America has lost its head!
I've got a feeling the "nuclear secrets" in question are less about basic bomb construction and uranium refinement (which is publicly available to a certain extent) and more about the trigger mechanisms and delivery systems (which tend to be a little more top secret).
For the reason Sybel is under a gag order, I believe her because if they thought she was lying she would be in prison.
I am skeptical of the "anonymous correspondent" simply because the best way for the FBI to discredit the story is to have a phony anonymous letter as bait.
That is how they did in Dan Rather and how they kept DA Jim Garrison off on wild goose chases with JFK.
I am not saying it is a phony letter but question why would a correspondent hide themselves when he or she could make the story accountable and profitable to their career if they were up front like Sybel is.
Hmmm.
Wasn't the FBI the same bunch of keystone cops who had inside info on the 'supposed' 9/11 'terrorists' but didn't intervene?
Wasn't the FBI also supposed to find the so-called 'anthrax mailer'?
Wasn't it the FBI that ran COINTELPRO to discredit anti-war activists in the Viet Nam era?
Didn't the FBI compile extensive files on celebrities during the '50s and '60s in the Great Red Scare, as well as on common citizens supected of 'Unamerican Activities'?
And we are supposed to belive them about a missing file on who in the government who may have be commiting acts of treason by selling secrets to modern nuclear technology?
Riiiiight.
Years ago two sophmore college students designed a hydrogen bomb and in fact their formula and design was perfect. They obtained all of the information from their university library books and unclassified data in the Princeton's university library.
Rebel Farmer is correct about this issue however, read the link she offered.
Having been at Bikini in 1956 to watch and be exposed to a number of H-Bombs, I can assure you that this is not the way to go.
Nuclear Bunker Buster Bombs against Iran: This Way Lies Madness
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=OSB20060...
Our current insanity will lead to a rather bad end, if we don't turn around soon.
I also thought that it was common knowledge that the ability needed to build a nuclear device had been available to the general public for decades.
My only guess is that the know-how made publicly available didn't go so far as to reveal all the necessary details needed to actually make an atomic device that would work.
I'm thinking that this information being bought and sold dealt with the issues of obtaining the uranium and moving it between countries. And any other technological and chemical knowledge that would be vital if one were to actually build and detonate a nuclear bomb.
The tentacles of injustice having the powers to restrict this story to the foreign press speaks loudly of the media's complicity and corruption. The fourth estate is in shambles and appears now to be an arm of government propaganda only. The buck has been passed to us by those financially fattened media cowards. I will not allow Sibel Edmonds to stand alone.
Gosh, what do you think the chances are that Edmonds is either lying or wrong, and that the FBI is being victimized by a former employee?!
This is in fact an explosive issue. And no information is coming out of the MSM. Only the UK has been willing to stay on this story. Please go to the link below and get the info you need to bring you up to speed on what Sibel has been trying to get into the public domain. This effort goes back for many years. Sibel is going to be lucky if she survives much longer. I hope she is safe. She holds the key to a lock that NO U.S. politician wants opened.

Maybe I'm a dense and a horribly uninformed person, but I understnd the "secrets" of how to build atomic bombs is available on the internet and prior to the internet and PCs, were printed in books and available in college libraries. Guess I'm ignorant to wonder why, this is an important subject?
This isn't exactly the second time, it is a new attempt to attract attention to the story. Edmonds has tried to walk a fine line between pushing her wrongful-firing case and not landing in jail. Recently she has revealed more details, including the general nature of the investigation she says she worked on: a nuclear spying ring that was selling "secrets" (nuke related documents) to anyone willing to pay for them. It's not clear what, if anything, this has to do with 9/11 other than the FBI's corruption and incompetence, which may explain why the 9/11 Commission and other investigations connected with 9/11 seemed to quickly lose interest in Edmonds's story.
Mickey and Humpy the Elf for the Dems
For the MSM not to pick up on this is a blatant supression of a legitimate, extremely important expose', similar in the outrageous exclusion of DK in the phoney Nevada debate last week. We're living in Disney World, folks, and the major amd minor networks are wearing all the costumes. And the scariest part is that most Americans want to believe that Mickey Mouse is real and America is Fantasyland. La! La! La!
Santa and Mrs. Claus, I and the Elves all assure you that no one in our own Government would ever be corrupt or mean enough to sell nuclear weapons or assist any evildoer here, or anywhere in the Universe. We deny all wrongdoing. 911 was not a Conspiracy, except among the people who did it, who were not American and did not even try to be American.
And hey--that kid who bombed his mother and everyone else out of the sky on a Colorado airliner back in the nineteen-fifties to get the insurance money obviously was not an American. No American could be that mean. That was all a Commie lie just to make us look bad.
"She says the FBI was investigating a Turkish and Israeli-run network that paid high-ranking American officials to steal nuclear weapons secrets."
Ah, our friends.
It seems as if our government is rife with traitors all the way from Washington, D.C. to Tel Aviv and Ankara.
How many of their proxies are here on Common Dreams?
Isn't this the second time she is blowing the whistle????
Sibel Edmonds...

Everybody knows about the details of Sibel Edmonds' case. Except the public.
Call Waxman, demand hearings. (202) 225-3976
The London Times story sounds very accurate, because it has a copy of the file the FBI says doesn't exist. Congress must investigate. Somehow Sibel Edmonds must be protected, as one of the bravest whistleblowers of our time.
