Democracy for America Endorses Beto O’Rourke for Texas Governor

WASHINGTON -

Democracy for America (DFA) announced its endorsement of Beto O'Rourke for Texas Governor.

DFA first supported O’Rourke during his 2018 congressional campaign, where he garnered massive support among Texans, making him a household name.

"Beto O’Rourke has continued to fight for the people of Texas, bringing boldness and energy to the progressive movement,” said Yvette Simpson, CEO for DFA. “From voter suppression & attacks on reproductive freedom to inadequate infrastructure, Texans have suffered from a consistent failure of leadership. O’Rourke is the leader Texas so desperately needs right now!”

He founded and currently leads Powered by People, a Texas-based organization that works to expand democracy and produce Democratic victories through voter registration and direct voter engagement. Powered by People has helped register over 250,000 unregistered Texans to vote since its inception in December 2019. O’Rourke’s continued focus and fight for the people has prepared him to lead Texas into new and higher heights.
