Unleashed, Palin Makes a Pit Bull Look Tame
FORT MYERS, Fla. - John McCain is collapsing in the polls in Florida and other swing states, but Sarah Palin, God bless her, has a solution.
Republican vice presidential nominee Alaska Governor Sarah Palin speaks during the vice presidential debate at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri October 2, 2008. (REUTERS/Jim Young) "For me, the heels are on, the gloves are off," she announced at high noon Monday to a group of Republican donors at the Naples Beach Club.
You betcha.
As the donors sipped their bloody marys and mimosas, she added, in a conspiratorial stage whisper, "I'm sending the message back to John McCain also: Tomorrow night in his debate, might as well take the gloves off."
Darn right.
Of course, it's not only gloves and heels; headgear has a role, too. "Okay, so, Florida, you know that you're going to have to hang on to your hats," she said at a morning rally in Clearwater, "because from now until Election Day, it may get kind of rough."
Say it ain't so, Sarah!
Sen. Lindsey Graham, a McCain confidant, told The Post's David Broder that the campaign would "go down in history as stupid if they don't unleash" Palin. Well, the self-identified pit bull has been unleashed -- if not unhinged.
Barack Obama, she told 8,000 fans at a rally here Monday afternoon, "launched his political career in the living room of a domestic terrorist!" This followed her earlier accusation that the Democrat pals around with terrorists. "This is not a man who sees America the way you and I see America," she told the Clearwater crowd. "I'm afraid this is someone who sees America as imperfect enough to work with a former domestic terrorist who had targeted his own country." The crowd replied with boos.
McCain had said that racially explosive attacks related to Obama's former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, are off limits. But Palin told New York Times columnist Bill Kristol in an interview published Monday: "I don't know why that association isn't discussed more."
Worse, Palin's routine attacks on the media have begun to spill into ugliness. In Clearwater, arriving reporters were greeted with shouts and taunts by the crowd of about 3,000. Palin then went on to blame Katie Couric's questions for her "less-than-successful interview with kinda mainstream media." At that, Palin supporters turned on reporters in the press area, waving thunder sticks and shouting abuse. Others hurled obscenities at a camera crew. One Palin supporter shouted a racial epithet at an African American sound man for a network and told him, "Sit down, boy."
McCain's swoon is largely out of his control, the result of an economic collapse that ignited new fears Monday when the Dow Jones industrial average closed below 10,000 for the first time in four years. That's why his lead in Florida polls, which once reached as high as 15 points, has turned into a three-point deficit.
But the campaign has reacted with recriminations (the St. Petersburg Times reported that the Florida Republican Party chairman, after questioning Palin's aptitude, was told that he couldn't fly on her plane) and now Palin's rage.
The angry GOP vice presidential nominee even found a way to blame the market decline on the yet-to-be-enacted tax policies of the yet-to-be-elected Obama.
"If you turn on the news tonight when you get home, you're gonna see that, yah, this is another woeful day in the market, and the other side just doesn't understand -- no!" she said at an afternoon fundraiser at the home of mutual fund giant Jack Donahue. "Especially in a time like this, you don't propose to increase taxes. The phoniest claim in a campaign that's full of them is that Barack Obama is going to cut your taxes."
Of course, Obama never promised to cut taxes for people at $10,000-a-plate lunches in air-conditioned tents on waterfront compounds. And the crowd -- among them New York Jets owner Woody Johnson -- reacted without applause to Palin's Joe Six-Pack lines. After they didn't strike up the usual "Drill, baby, drill" or "USA" chants, Palin, rattled, read hurriedly through the rest of her speech.
The reception had been better in Clearwater, where Palin, speaking to a sea of "Palin Power" and "Sarahcuda" T-shirts, tried to link Obama to the 1960s Weather Underground. "One of his earliest supporters is a man named Bill Ayers," she said. ("Boooo!" said the crowd.) "And, according to the New York Times, he was a domestic terrorist and part of a group that, quote, 'launched a campaign of bombings that would target the Pentagon and our U.S. Capitol,' " she continued. ("Boooo!" the crowd repeated.)
"Kill him!" proposed one man in the audience.
Palin also told those gathered that Obama doesn't like American soldiers. "He said that our troops in Afghanistan are just, quote, 'air-raiding villages and killing civilians,' " she said, drawing boos from a crowd that had not been told Obama was actually appealing for more troops in Afghanistan.
"See, John McCain is a different kind of man: He believes in our troops," she said.
At times, Palin hinted at the GOP campaign's troubles. "It's going to be a hard-fought contest, especially in these swing states, some maybe we would not have expected," she admitted to donors. She allowed that "John McCain and I need to do a better job" of talking about the economy.
At other times, she had troubles of her own, as when she spoke over the weekend of "our neighboring country of Afghanistan" or when she got choked up at the Clearwater rally, saying, "Some of your signs just make me wanna cry," without explaining which ones or why.
But then the gloves came off, the heels came out, and Palin was once again talking about her opponent hanging out in a terrorist's living room.

Show AllThis should be interesting. The Dems have repeatedly demonstrated their inability to "take the gloves off" when they clearly should have. I wonder if Obama and Biden will just let the pit bull gnaw their flesh or will they fight back?
Obviously it's a terrible sign for our country that elections get more and more dishonorable every 4 years, but it makes such good bloodsport for those of us who don't watch football. Too bad all of our lives hang in the balance.
This is the first female candidate with real sex appeal imagine her in a little french maid outfit lap dancin' some furn' leada with with a funny soundin' name or goin' down to the Senate to break a tie vote wearin' black leather n' spikes bringin' along some whips n' chains.
Maverick: A gunslinin',gamblin', fast talkin', con-man with a thirst for cheap booze n' young compliant wimmen of a certain perswayshun; good character for a TV show, wrong characteristics for a President.
Bad as she is (a combination of Bush and Cheney)
stealing $700 plus billion is a much bigger story.
Palin is a dangerous, dangerous woman.
Watching her is to witness hate & racism embodied: unleashed and unrestrained.
Her lies about Ayers doing a "fundraiser in his living room" for Obama's campaign (plus her other comments about Obama & terrorism) made it onto the mainstream TV news last night- unchallenged.
By the time the truth is circulated the damage will have been done.
Don't forget that 1/3 of Americans still believe that Iraq had a role in 9/11.
Rush Limbaugh (who evidently encouraged Palin to be nominated for VP back in the spring) must be SO pleased- he has a new megaphone.
I think you're being a bit melo-dramatic...
The dangerous person is an associate of William Ayers who knew who he is and was his friend anyway...I was shocked that Ayers is a College Professor...
Does explain a lot though
But it' okay to sit on a board linked to death squads, like McCain did in the 1980s:
http://www.democracynow.org/2008/10/7/headlines
"McCain Sat on Board of Group Linked to Central American Death Squads
As Republicans continue to talk about Bill Ayers, McCain himself is coming under new scrutiny for his ties to a group linked to former Nazi collaborators and right-wing Central American deaths squads. During the early 1980s, McCain was a board member of the US Council for World Freedom, which took part in efforts to overthrow Nicaragua’s Sandinista government. The Council later went on to become a major figure in the Iran-Contra scandal. The Reagan administration defied a congressional ban to secretly funnel weapons to the Contras, the US-backed proxy group organized to violently overthrow the Sandinistas. McCain said he resigned from the Council’s board in 1984."
Oh yes, Ayers has not turned from his previous ways one iota.
Today he has bombs on full display during cocktail parties he holds in his living room and in his faculty office, and he boasts openly about all the buildings and people he had, and was planning on, blowing up. When all this came into light for Obama, Obama slapped him on the back, smiled and said, "let's kill some Americans together!"
So you see, Ayers is living proof that it's not possible at all for anyone to change or evolve from their views or their youthful participation in advocacy for or involvement in violent activities.
He hates America, which only does good in the world, never hurts anyone, but is being hampered in its greatness and goodness because the Pagan Democrats are keeping all us saintly Christian Republicans from being in charge. So get rid of the laws against us and make more laws against them and kill, kill, kill the Pagan Democrats so they'll get out of the way!!!!!! (We have the right to do this because God's on our side, which makes it not terrorism!)
Snow Wolf -
you said you were "shocked" that he is a college professor," but that it "does explain a lot though."
Please clarify.
Most of the population that cries out against intellectuals either 1. does not want to admit that the US isn't the greatest nation on earth 2. does not know or want to believe actual historical facts. Usually it is a mixture of both.
William Ayers? Don't make me laugh. SECOND largest terrorist attack in the U.S.? The Alfred P. Murrah Building in Oklahoma City. 168 men, women and CHILDREN killed by a RIGHT-WING MUTANT DEATH-MONKEY named McVeigh. I don't worry about Ayers, my screechy little friend, I worry about the people McCaine and Palin are obviously inciting.
I think you are being Mali-cious, Yoo and others are college Profs too, you act the ass of a typical white paranoid man.

Mike! You're stretching the truth to the point of lying again. They weren't friends; they worked in the same type of work--community organizing, helping the disadvantaged have a better life. And their paths crossed at a time when Ayers was doing good deeds.
Ayers did some criminal things 40 years ago when he was young. Are you saying people cannot be rehabilitated and that you don't at all agree with Jesus about forgiveness? How about drunken, womanizing, coke-snorting, failed-at-everything-he-touched Bushy-boy. As a military man, by the way (with a son in harm's way) how can you justify the cowardice of Bushy-boy, Cheney, Dumsfeld, etc., all these chicken-hawks who found excuses and powerful relatives--Daddy for Bushy-boy--to avoid serving!!???
But I digressed a bit--just too obvious to miss.
Because Ayers did something wrong for which he's made amends, you don't think he should be allowed to work at what he's qualified to do?
And Bushy-boy?
You know you're not talking with integrity on that.
"The heels are on and the gloves are off..." and with all the black she wears, my first thought was "and in my hands are the whips and chains."
I wrote that before I read what the three above me wrote. Nice to see I'm not alone in my assessment.
Free advice:
If Obama wants to win he needs to immediately:
1) Characterize the Wall Street extortionists as economic terrorists and characterize McHoover's 26 year record of voting for more financial industry deregulation as a 26 year support of US and global economic terrorism, and
2) Characterize as unpatriotic and treasonous, the Palin family's membership in an organization that advocates Alaskan secession from the US.
Obama's noise machine on these and other issues needs to be louder than the neocon noise machine from now until Nov. 4.
Historically the Vice Presidential Candidate is the Aggressive one during Campaigns...Helps the Candidate maintain that Presidential Aura...
Sarah does it will style and wit...
Style? Wit? When? Where? She's like a bad sit-com dialog - worse actually because she never listens to the other person's responses. Endlessly repeating canned scripts is not wit.
A man convinced against his will - is of the same opinion still.
Style and wit?! She can't even put an original, informative sentence together.
"Helps the Candidate maintain that Presidential Aura..."
McCain needs another VP candidate, as the current occupant is certainly not helping with the "Presidential Aura".
We all understand politics well enough to know what role the VP candidate plays in the campaign. That doesn't explain or justify Palin's stupidity and extremism.
You're reaching way too far in this one. "Style and wit" !???? Examples please.
She inspires a lot of wit. Check out Jon Stewart, etc.
I'm not so sure Palin is a pit bull. A pit bull can be effective at hurting its victim. Palin, on the other hand, only makes Obama look better every time she opens her mouth. She is not hurting him. She is demonstrating for the world to see that the McCain/Palin ticket is dangerous and erratic.
Keep running your mouth, Palin! Every time you open it Barack gets more votes.
When the election is over and she goes home to Alaska, I do hope that she will get the help she needs with her mental health issues.
The most remarkable thing about this is the practical incitement to violence ("kill him") these republicans are participating in. Could you imagine the raction if there was even a fraction of this sort of talk on the left?
Yeah, they might be labeled... well, terrorists - or at least thugs or unpatriotic.
If her and grandpa get in there, their self-fulfilling prophecy of End of Days probably won't be far off.

Not necessarily: it woulda been cool if someone would have called Hillary out for repeatedly reminding us all that...after all, Bobby Kennedy was SHOT in June...back when she was justifying her remaining in the race in June. THAT sounded like a ever-so-slightly veiled threat to me. (course, i guess it is a strech calling her "on the left")
"Hope has two beautiful daughters. Their names are anger and courage; anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they do not remain the way they are."
As I remember things, a pit bull is a dog and a dog is also commonly known as a bitch. Case closed!

Her own Bible says that one who lives in a glass house should not throw stones. To make an issue of Obama's previous minister while her church is an ADVOCATE of END TIMES and believes in a HOLY war... I mean yeah, 50 million subscribe to this insanity, but perhaps for those who don't... they need to have the connection clearly pointed out! Do we want someone who says "Right to life" while advocating policies of sure death and destruction close to the hot buttons?
And do you guys really find her attractive? The woman is average at best, although kept a decent figure after birthing 5 children. She is Tina Fey's double, a real career boost for the comedy circuit.
"And do you guys really find her attractive?"
Not me. She has an ugly soul.
I couldn't care less about her looks. If McCain/Palin win, she stands an extremely good chance of being president...!!!????
Her looks are the last thing anybody should be concerned with.
I'm not attracted to Obama either, and I know he'd make a fine president. Ditto with Al Gore.
As a new boy to CD, we'll forgive you for not knowing your way around. Sioux Rose has been on CD almost forever, and she is a highly respected contributor. For some of us old-timers, we do like to learn about each other, as it helps elevate comments from merely being anonymous prattle to being authored by a person of substance.
??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"And do you guys really find her attractive?"
Not at all. Physically, I find her overweight. Emotionally she is narcissistic. Spiritually she is bankrupt. Frankly, from the little I have seen of her, she does not appear to uphold any virtues that define woman.
And don't get me started on the sound of her voice.
If that is the best the Repubs can come up with then they are grasping at straws...It should all be fair game..McCain finishing 894 out of 899 in college(Palin needing 6 colleges to graduate), McCain divorcing his first wife to marry a multi-millionare...'Pit bull'Palin is right as she is so compassionate she wants to legalize shooting wolves & bears from airplanes..
Lets change the debate to what actually IS 'Terrorism'though...millions of people around the world consider George Bush Jr. a 'terrorist' for his unprovoked 'shock and awe' bombing of Iraq..every time US warplanes drop bombs on Afgan wedding parties that is 'terrorism'...Americans need to wake up & look in the mirror at what making War does...the US military is very good at doing what they are trained to do..KILL PEOPLE!!..Bring the troops home Now!
Ursa
We can't forget that John McCain the WAR hero dropped Napalm on how many families in Vietnam - Sings BOMB BOMB BOMB Iran, and believes we should be in Iraq for 100 years, because after al we just surrendered in Vietnam.
Then their is Palin - Kill the polar bears, Screw up the artic Wildlife refuge, Kill kill kill and keep breeding !
The two of them are very scarry
She appeals to the very lowest common denominator, and is so incredibly plastic in all her accusations. It's to people who don't bother thinking for themselves that she appeals, who will deny deny deny their own dire straits until the whole house is burned down by the forces that Palin and McCain support. I'm willing to bet this will go down in history as one of the clearest examples of irony ever while an empire collapses.
Dafoe
A number of old sayings come to mind with Palin, " diarrhoea of the mouth and constipation of the brain", " foot in mouth disease" are a couple, "why open your mouth and confirm you're a fool" all seem to apply. The longer she goes on even the illiterate booboise may get the point that she is has no virtues to take into public life., then again these same good citizens voted for GWB twice. It points to the rotten state of public education in the nation that was attained by diligent well thought out policies. Ignorance is paraded like a badge of merit, look on owr presdent as its poster boy, by golly.
Sounds like a Nazi brownshirt rally, get out the clubs. Palin would make a good Goring.
I had the same reaction. Palin's not Bush or Cheney in a skirt. She's Hitler in a skirt. This is a dangerous woman. We know what prize she seeks, and she may well get it.
"Snoflake" you seem to be out of place here on these pages.
You obviously suffer from a common "conservative thinkers medical malady"---"CRIS" (Cranial Rectal Insertion Syndrome)
But the next time you go to the VA for a check up (you were a "lifer" right? which is a common term used to describe a social parasite)
You might wish to stand in line at the "Proctologists" so that you can have that "medical malady" easily remedied-----"pull it out, pull it out".
Concerning Palin, she is somewhat more articulate than Bush---when rehearsed--but, anyone who believes in Jesus, and the second coming, the judgement etc---should be placed in charge of the "skoop shovel" at the end of the Circus Parade----and then watched very carefully.
Is that condition anything like Optorectumy? Where the nerves from you eyes get crossed up with nerves from your behind and you get a shitty outlook on life?
I have seen my share of Presidental campaigns in my lifetime, but NEVER, EVER, would I have expected to see one like McPalin that incites a crowd to promote death to the oppenent.
These are troublesome and sad times for what was once a great country. One that stood for justice, morality and character. Now it is simply a gutter clogged with characters.
We are now truely living "The Bush Doctrine".
As Margaret Hamilton proclaimed 70 years ago: "Fly, my pretties, fly!"
How I now weep...
I will end this article with two poems I wrote together with my son Yahya who recited it at Tucson Obamafest:
Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow
Yesterday, we were blinded in a holy smoke
We elected Republicans who are pros to provoke
We trusted snakes, oilmen, merchants of arms
Faith-healers, war-mongers with cunning charms
Today, we inherit an economy worse than hurricane
The culprits now have the audacity to prop up McCane
Today, we are hated abroad, looming disasters are big
Yet, they wave a plain lipstick to fool us with an old rig
Senator who cannot count the fancy houses he owns
Wants us to believe that he understands Janes and Jones
He is tough, he sings "bomb, bomb, bomb;" he is a hero!
He will wage seven wars with a budget far below zero
Today we are going to choose our tomorrow!
No more plunder, no more wars on the borrow!
We shall work harder, smarter; we shall unite
To peace, progress, and egality we TeenDemocrats invite
Let's end this era that's brought far too much drama
Everyone put your hands together for Barack H. Obama!!!
***
TeenDemocrats
You are right: we like video games,
Ipods, sports, bikes, cars, brand names.
But we are not oblivious
When the folly of politicians
Outrageous and obvious!
Cons squandered our future
Sold out our great nation for big corporations
A coalition of grumpy corrupt old men
Weapon merchants and oilmen
Preach patriotism, talk about victory
While it is our blood being shed
While it is our future being spent
It is time to revolt!
Teen democrats will vote!
Palin appeals to a corrupt crowd of wealthy donors, racists, and the ignorant masses who are spellbound by the cynical and decadent spectacle.
Since the Bush Regime, these groups have increased their numbers in Amerika. This is aided and abetted by the corporate media/propaganda machine and the defunding of real education. Her candidacy fits well with a government that started an illegal war against non-white people, complete with murder and torture abroad and lies and repression at home. The people who like this are the ones who like her.
Greg says: "Obviously it's a terrible sign for our country that elections get more and more dishonorable every 4 years, but it makes such good bloodsport for those of us who don't watch football. Too bad all of our lives hang in the balance"
Right on Greg. It is too bad that many lives hang in the balance. I am carefully watching this election process from Canada and even I find these attacks an insult to my limited intelligence. I can only imagine how many of you feel. But with that said I take comfort in the fact that most of your citizens see these attacks for what they are.
As for Gov. Palin ..... I need not comment. In my humble opinion she is not worth the effort.
That Sarah Palin is spewing her bile is completely unsurprising. The bounce from her inclusion on the Republican ticket has faded as the details about her have come in. That she has the gall to mention Wright when her own paster got his start chasing folk healers in Kenya as witches, then prays for Palin to be immune from witches is narcissism in the extreme. If I was on the Obama team, I would be both happy (they're getting desperate) and cautious (they're getting desperate). As for the association with terrorists, one need merely mention her family's support of the Alaska Succession Party & McCain's long association with Central American death squad types (there is also his membership in the Keating Five).
Yes so what? So she's an inbred, brainswashed armageddonist. And McCain is the worst humanity can offer. But that's America, folks, get used to it.
Look at Democrats, just as appalling. Obama's a Republican clone who voted for the bailout, the FISA bill, the funding of the war, he wants to drill, drill, drill and bomb Pakistan. Zionist Biden's record in the Senate has primarily been one of fighting tooth and nails for both Israel's butchering of Palestinians and banks/credit cards companies each and every time. Disgusting.
Don't vote for Jeffrey Dahmer just because Ted Bundy killed more people. Stop the Democrat/Republican corrupt machine for heavens' sakes!
Liar. Hater. "Hockey mom". Spouse of a treasonous secessionist. Running mate to a man who resorts to the same slime and sleaze tactics which destroyed his candidacy in the past, also a liar, a hater, who shows himself to have less honor in his conduct than a maggot. This is, at the end, what these thugs have to offer the nation. Fear, hate, and buckets of slime.
Okay, okay. Hockey Mom, my daughter is 19 playing ice hockey since 8. Plays for Keith Primeau's Womens semi-pro Team now. I am a Hockey Mom, from bottom of VA to everywhere through MD, DE, PA, NJ, NY, MA, CT, VT, ME, NH, all over Canada, Hockey Mom. Not a damn pitbull, no lipstick, lots 'o driving. Zero sleep.

I know "conservative" has become a 4 letter word these days. But there must be respectable "old school" (i.e. political, not religious) conservatives out there who are embarrassed by Palin. These are the people who need to get out and put Palin in her place. Dems and Liberals trying to do it just makes the rabid dog madder.
SnowWolf
You really live in a small sick world of your own. Please get some help
"See, John McCain is a different kind of man: He believes in our troops," she said.
I don't think that is fair as she did not give Madman his due. McCain has shown repeatedly that he does not care a whit about the troops through his votes on veterans' funding. But he really, really likes the idea of bombing defenseless innocent foreigners to smithereens. That brings a smile to this warped, frustrated, old war criminal and warms the cockles of his fossilized heart.
