Tuesday Morning Rally to Urge Congress to Kill Manchin's 'Zombie' Bill

Climate Advocates Rallied Near Capitol To Call for Final Blow to the Dirty Deal

WASHINGTON

After successfully blocking Sen. Joe Manchin's dirty deal from being included in the National Defense Authorization Act in the House, advocates rallied once again on Tuesday morning to urge members of Congress to kill the 'zombie' deal for good.

Despite last week's win, Manchin is now trying to find another vehicle for his dirty and unjust deal: either through an amendment to the defense bill, or by trying to attach it to the end-of-year spending bill. Notably, this dirty deal, that would fast-track the Mountain Valley Pipeline and other dangerous projects like it, is being pushed at the same time as the ongoing environmental disaster that's resulting from a 14,000 barrel spill on the original Keystone pipeline.

This morning, community leaders and activists mobilized outside of the Capitol to demand that Joe Manchin's massive giveaway to the fossil fuel industry be blocked once and for all. The group held signs that read, "No Zombie Bill, No Zombie Pipeline," with other members of the group dressed as zombies moaning pleas to kill the bill.

Who: Protect our Water, Heritage, Rights (POWHR) and People vs. Fossil Fuels

Why: Sen. Manchin is still scheming to push forward the toxic dirty deal that will fast-track dangerous fossil fuel projects like the Mountain Valley Pipeline and harm communities. This is a zombie bill that keeps getting defeated and then rising from the dead.
