35 Reasons To Call (202) 225-5126
On June 10, 2008, Dennis Kucinich introduced 35 Articles of Impeachment against George W. Bush.
On June 11, 2008, they were referred to the Judiciary Committee. According to NPR, the Associated Press and the like, they were sent there to die. That's too bad. Because George Bush has committed "high crimes and misdemeanors." Impeachable offenses. A lot of them.
He, and his administration, have also created a cloud of confusion and obfuscation around everything that's happened in his administration. Every investigation has ground to a halt, lost in corporate lawyers tricks - refusal to hand over documents, lost documents, redacted documents, officials who can't remember, or, at last resort, refuse to answer subpoenas.
According to the Articles of Impeachment:
• The administration consciously lied about the reasons to go to war. • Conspired to create a secret propaganda campaign to go to war. • Failed to meet the terms set out in the bill that allowed the president to go to war, thereby making the war illegal. • Failed to meet the terms set by international law for war, therefore engaging in a "war of aggression," a war crime. • Engaged in Torture • Illegal Detention: Detaining Indefinitely And Without Charge Persons Both U.S. Citizens and Foreign Captives • Rendition: Kidnapping People and Taking Them Against Their Will to "Black Sites" Located in Other Nations, Including Nations Known to Practice Torture • Imprisoning Children • Failure, as the occupying power, to protect the civilian population of Iraq. • Providing immunity for criminal acts by contractors, thereby condoning murder, rape and other crimes. • Spied on Americans without warrants. • Intentionally subverting and refusing to enforce laws through signing statements. • Tampering with Free and Fair Elections, • Corruption of the Administration of Justice • Conspiracy to Violate the Voting Rights Act of 1965 • Obstruction of the Investigation into the Attacks of September 11, 2001 • Denial of Habeas Corpus
Among other things.
Many of these are on the record as true.
If congress says the hell with it, too much trouble to bring that up, and we don't want to look vindictive, and just shrugs its shoulders, that makes them co-conspirators.
The man who will now make the decision to stash the charges on the shelf until after January, 2009, when Bush is gone, or to open up hearings, is John Conyers.
John Conyers phone number is (202) 225-5126.

Show AllThe same slugs who took impeachment "off the table" are still running the show. Conyers and Pelosi and Reid won't try to impeach, and instead of dialing 202-225-5126 you might as well call your local Pizza Hut.
Maybe there's a special on Congressional Pizza: Four layers of bullshit topped with phony concern.
Yummy!
After you make your call, please don't forget to vote for Obama in November. This impeachment effort, as well as failing to obtain a conviction, WILL energize the Republican "base" in a double-whammy with the California gay marriage issue.
If you get some hearings but lose your government (again) in another election, your voices shall be silenced until most of the CD posters have literally passed away. That's because we will have lost the Supreme Court for probably two generations. McCain could well replace about 3 of the 4 liberals who remain there in their 70s and 80s.
Sweep Out the House.
Don't re-elect.
Do any of you STILL actually listen to this lying troll from the Dim party with his PATRONIZING INFANTILE CRAP? This man would sell your children to ANIMALS because he is a faithful party HACK. And then when his MASTERS rape you he is GONE. No accountability. Just like the people he TELLS YOU TO VOTE FOR.
YOU HAVE NO CHOICE!!! YOU MUST OBEY!!!
A vote for Obama is just a vote for McCain, don't forget for a minute that the war is with K street and the corporate entities who lie to you daily about something called Democracy. Ignore the oppositional party lie, defeat your controllers and use information as a weapon against them.
"A vote for Obama is just a vote for McCain". luckylefty, you need to catch up. Bane Richter is out-nonsensing you today.
Beyond Conyers, contact your own Congressperson to get on board the impeachment train by July 16,
Mandamus Day
why isn't kucinich speaker of the house?
why isn't boxer, feingold or clinton senate majority leader?
The girly pols have too much invested in their criminal version of democracy...Bush is the ultimate Teflon president and all the democrats are complicit...with winks nods...hand wringing...and venial mouthings about actually doing something ...now if we could only figure out how to put Washington DC under water....
Don't waste your time, Democrats only take calls from lobbists, they laugh at constituents phone calls. Phone calls never did and never will change anything.
Democrats' only goal is to increase their power in congress and the WH in November, so they themselves can take advantage of breaking the law and increase their portfolios through war profiteering just like Bush and Cheney have done in the last 8 years. Screw the troops, Iraqis, voters, the Constitutions., etc. For that to happen they can't upset the Repug base with stupid things like obeying the rule of law and impeaching Bu$h. In fact they LOVE Bush for being so bold and breaking the law so many times, they now have several perfect excuses to do the same starting 2009.
Thanks to idiot voters like Daniel David, Dim Patrick, etc, Democrats will fulfill that goal with flying colors.
Other than a "cult of personality", I don't believe the Office of President has had any real power or influence since May 1997. Mr. Obama is a nice, sincere enough politician who's being drawn into the morass. From there, he'll need to keep explaining away plans by others he doesn't like and can't control; plans that have already been drawn up (and are underway) for over a decade.
We should all vote for whomever we feel is most qualified, even if it means writing in your own name. But the only influence we can truly wield is through intellectual deconstruction and other silent, non-violent, transformative initiatives. It will take decades, but the "dead animal", still standing but slowly falling, that appears to some as still alive and fearful, will have fully fallen by then. New foundations will have been constructed if we do our job well, and our children will be more thankful for our efforts than we are to our parents for allowing the sith lord a seat at the table in the first place.

Read Naomi Cline's article right here on Common Dreams entitled, "Obama's Chicago Boys" and tell me there is a difference between Obama and McCain. It took three days after Hillary bowed out for Obama to come out and admit that he is Freeper. He's all for neo-liberalism and the globalization of everything, the selling out of YOU and ME.
Listen here people. I'm all for pushing for impeachment, but when are people going to get it through their thick skulls that everything about impeachment and this election is a staged event that guarantees a Corporate Party victory. Calling and talking to Democratic House reps and Senators is a grandiose exercise in futility. The Dems and Repubs in power don't give a rat's ass about the working class. Yes, Melissa, there is a working class, and there IS class warfare, fought by the people with the money. Our labor is the commodity they buy, and they own us, just like any other natural resource. The only thing that matters to them is getting the most labor for least amount of money. Whether the working class has health care, or education, etc., doesn't mean squat to these people. The only thing that matters is the surplus value from their relationship with workers. Into this schema fit the Republicans and the Democrats, duplicitous Corporate Party partners in exploitation. So go ahead, vote for the delusion that is Obama, or McCain. When Obama wins, you will get more of the same delusion in short order made all too apparent. Not me! Never, ever again. Run Ralph. Run!
This is the same Congress which is on the verge of granting immunity to telecoms, in blatant disregard of public opinion and the rule of law.
Congressional leaders have been trying all year to slip past legislation that would endorse and complement our depraved and criminal maladministration's desire to shield telecommunications corporations from justifiable scrutiny and legal consequences of their criminal conspiracy with the Executive Branch to provide unfettered illegal surveillance capability to government "law-enforcement" and "anti-terrorist" agencies.
In recent months, a few individual politicians, e.g. Senator Christopher Dodd, have heroically laid down on the tracks, forcing their own complicit and collusive party leadership to delay this heinous miscarriage of justice. But it appears that such speed bumps did not effectively derail the scanadalous and appalling dedication of our political elite to protect and serve their corporate patrons.
Apples and oranges, perhaps. But the legislative orchard of Congress appears to have been sprayed with some malign bipartisan variation of Agent Orange, such that it only produces toxic and deformed fruit.
In fairness, one mustn't forget to give credit for the persimmon of a modest minimum wage increase drooping in solitude over the orchard wall. This miracle doesn't quite rise to the level of "harvest", though.
Maybe we all should join the Freedom Fighters of Ron Paul's new group "Campaign for Liberty": or get a similar organization going amoung Democrats to fight for our Constitution, Truth and Freedom. It is going to take more that our chatting here to make a real difference. The Scary thing is that the FBI had a flier in the late 90's encouraging people to report others who were loudly supporting the Constitution with Detention Centers built throughout the States. Congress has given Bush the authority to do what he is doing under the National Emergencies Act and have continued renewing it each year. Until they rescind that Act, I see no accountability being demanded of this or Administrations. Let's see.... how do we accomplish a Citizen's arrest of Bush and Cheney as they Exit the White House next January or bring a Class Action Suit against them with all of us who detest their blatant disregard for not only the Consitituion, but Truth, our Liberties and Justice for all.

Thank you for standing for and upon, our near invisible moral podium.
Our scare harvest of a "persimmon" amongst so many "lemons" is quite an opportunity to make lemonade.
It is our falsely aligned American perceptions, piddled upon propagandized, and pillared against ourselves - that we must re-fertilize ( although the rampant BS is quite good for that ) and harvest anew our LIVES and free thinking:

I just tried phoning the number. There is no answer. They have disconnected the answering machine.
The fax machine is probably out of paper.
Do they care?
At some point it is appropriate to be angry.
I stepped up to the plate and donated $100 to the campaign against Nancy Pelosi. Do whatever you can to get her out of office. She does not represent us...she represents huge corporate interests.
Here is the letter I wrote to the editor of our newspaper. It was published today.
Feel free to copy it and send it to your editor. It may or may not generate more calls and letters to Congress, but we just have to keep trying!
Support this impeachment effort
On Monday night Rep. Dennis Kucinich, D-Ohio, introduced in the House a resolution calling for the impeachment of President George W. Bush. Reading for a full five hours, Kucinich presented to House members 35 well-researched articles of impeachment, outlining the high crimes and misdemeanors of the current administration.
Without immediate public support for this resolution, it is likely to die in the Judiciary Committee.
Letters, phone calls and e-mails to our representatives, as well as to Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-San Francisco and Judiciary Chairman John Conyers, D-Mich., can demonstrate America's demand for accountability at the highest level, and our call for the restoration of constitutional law.
-
We have signed petitions, wrote our congress people. They don't and won't do our bidding. They all want war...now War with IRAN for beautiful special Israel..the country all should fear in the Middle East.
The sad truth is, which we don't want to believe, is everyone in Congress except for Kucinich, Ellison, Conyers....are for war and keeping Bush in office. Pelosi fears saying anything negative about Bush. When interviewed she scrambles to say the positive. I think she has been threatened. Only two threats...fear of losing her position or power, or fear of DEATH. Death threats would keep bush in office.
Cheney is notorious for threatening people. He threatened To Get Senator Wellstone after Wellstone voted against going to war in Iraq. Three days later Wellstone ...died...or WAS KILLED. Maybe, by Cheney. All covered up by the FBI who came in and took the plane away. No final decision ever made on this. Cheney shoots his friend in the back..a warning maybe.?
Congress is afraid to act...either they support the policies...or they have been threatened. What do you think is tying their hands? Whom do you think is keeping them in line?
Cheney...the man who said...I am not human.
criticalthinktank, Barbara Lee, Lynn Woolsey, Sheila Lee-Jackson and Maxine Waters are NOT for this illegal Occupation and are fighting hard to stop IT. As for Ellison when we met with them on the Hill when IVAW gave testimony under oath, his questions concerned me. His lack of reality about Iran, his questions for the Iraq Vets were all about ARE WE SAFE FROM IRAN and WILL IRAN NUKE US and such nonsense.
When we met with Conyers on Wednesday on the Hill he was right to the point, he said he didn't know exactly how the Judiciary was going to go because they haven't read the entire documentation from Kucinich yet, he has scheduled a meeting with us,VFP, in a few weeks to give us a definitive answer. Dennis told us it would not stop there. He is givimg them 30 days, if no answer he will reintroduce to the House but with 60 Articles this time, again we will meet with Dennis after 30 day limit.
Here are numbers that work: 800-828-0498 800-459-1887
I have John Conyers card with direct # but not in this room now, will post it later. I don't know if this article is from the 13th or 14th but whomever said no answer or disconnected, >5:00 on Friday and all day Sat and Sun closed.
Namaste thank you for your clear decent caring post.
shocked.....i am just shocked......called the number earlier & john conyers answered the phone himself after about 6 rings.....had a nice talk...he seemed nice.....said he was working on am impeachment speech....said pelosi doesn't control what he does....took my name and number & said he would follow up with me personally......shocked....just shocked, i say......
If the world was a perfect place, Cheney and Bush would be impeached and dropped off unprotected in the streets of Iraq. The world is far from perfect, so impeachment will never happen. They've protected themselves with connections, croneyism and money money money... The New Untouchables...
yeah, impeaching the president, an act supported by THE MAJORITY is going to be the downfall of the Democrats. Your logic is flawed Daniel.
Putting the spotlight on George Bush would actually remind the public of his criminal reign in the White House, and once the evidence is REDISCOVERED, (it is already out in the open, just not highlighted by the corporate media) people would associate Bush with McCain and the Republicans, leading to a Democratic landslide(in victory over the Republicans). Sure, the republican base would be pissed off, because the Democrats, for once in their lives, would actually show they couldn't be bullied by the dominant party in US politics. Impeachment would force the spotlight on his crimes in the corporate media, something that would actually sway public opinion the way of the Dems.
Keep on bullshitting yourselves, Democrats. Your playing of politics is as pathetic as your faux progressive policies.
The U.S. govorporation is winning, & has been winning since WWII. Somewhere deep in the bowels of the govorporation there are people willing to do the wet work to enforce the status quo. Anthrax was sent to several offices. Wellstone is dead. Carnahan is dead. Others have been co-opted by force, money, or other means. Let the U.S. fall hard, then we can rebuild it. Go out, buy a gun, learn to use it--the right to bear arms may be the only right you have left. With the cost of gas getting higher, it would be a good idea to learn who your neighbors are. Start a garden; work closer to home; learn to shoot that gun. Giddyup! It's time to start the ride to the bottom of the U.S. abyss.
Face it: we're living in a tyranny here, though its a tyranny that knows enough (so far) not to come down too hard on middle class dissidents. Yes, if you go "too far" in your protests or civil disobedience, they'll arrest you and take you to court, but most of us internet activists manage to say whatever we want without consequences (so far.) Representative government no longer represents us, and there is no reason to think that suddenly that situation will change. It won't. The government serves special interests, the ones that represent concentrated money, because money is the lifeblood of our corrupt political system. Don't look for solutions from the government--they won't be forthcoming no matter who gets "elected" in November.
I just called that dirt bag Conyers and got no anwer I'll call him and a few of his fellow dirt bags (Democrats) again on Monday.
Please everyone, we only impeach when we have a DEMOCRAT Prez. Then we get action!
Don't forget about the October Surprise . . . .
Of course it really won't be a surprise it will only be a "I Told You So" . . .
We will need a real Hercules to clean up King Augeas' stables. Both the House and Senate need flushing and disinfecting of lobby lice so we can repopulate with the likes of Incitatus.

Well I certainly hope you will clue us all in when Conyers calls back - but don't hold your breath.
I'm sure that Pelosi has no legal control over what Conyers does while he is still Chairman, but as long as the majority of Dems support her, she can remove Conyers from the Chair of the Judiciary Committee -but that is not likely to happen.
What if we all wrote in Kucinich on the ballot? Started a mass written movement? I don't trust any of them. I think Shrub is going to use the law he made to have full control in the event of a "Homeland Security Threat". They are going to stage an attack or let one slip through the cracks. Then Americans will be afraid... and they can pull some more evil wool over our eyes. King Shrub....AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Bukinin, the "tyranny" you fear is far more inept than you think. This is a big part of the problem. They feed on your ominous appraisal of them just like the wraith.
The broken system is over. The only power it has left is that which you grant it.

and since John Conyers is from Detroit Michagan, Obama as nominee should encourage him to do his job.
It took 2 corporate political parties to make this war against Iraq go on for almost 2 decades now. Voting Democrat just is not the great solution to any of our political problems. Sad to see so many still lost in the 'lesser of 2 evils' maze.

mikecon3, John Conyers always answers his own phone after hours, it endears you to him, he is a 21 termer. He had promised us the other day at our meeting he would be definative in his answer to us, VFP, and timeline it as well.
JohnC, the House shall chuse their speaker....They can as quickly remove her ass. She does not want Impeachment because she was a witness to Torture on her jaunt to Iraq and Abu Ghraib, so she'd be as screwed as the Sociopath in Chief and the gang.
Dennis told us 30 days, they have 30 days. Then he will introduce 60 Articles....
I called Conyers number last night and all I got was a ring that went on forever(no answering machine??). Is Conyers trying to avoid the people he claims to represent?
I will try again tonight and see if the same thing happens. If so, I will post again.

"This impeachment effort, as well as failing to obtain a conviction, WILL energize the Republican "base" in a double-whammy with the California gay marriage issue."
I sure as hell DONT want McCain in. So I AM listening.
But you need to make a good case that such an impeachment effort will put McCain in. I think not. I have no evidence one way or the other, but I think not. My intuition says that an impeachment effort will expose the lies of Bush & Cheney, and will severely damage support for the Repugs.
usrcjp, you called Conyers office # or the toll frees I posted? The toll frees are for the switchboard, they're outta ther @ 5:00 pm. If you called John Conyers direct office phone, it was a Friday night he was gone, he doesn't sleep there. His office # in Rayburn is 202-225-5126.
Off22 was absolutely correct when he said:
"Putting the spotlight on George Bush would actually remind the public of his criminal reign in the White House, and once the evidence is REDISCOVERED, (it is already out in the open, just not highlighted by the corporate media) people would associate Bush with McCain and the Republicans, leading to a Democratic landslide(in victory over the Republicans). Such an impeachment effort would likely galvanize our Democratic base, thankful that finally Congress is acting on the will of the people.
In truth, we are talking a numbers game here. They have to hear from a lot of us. Not just a few of us must be calling, but a swarm of folks.
And for those who say, wait until after the election for justice, what happens if the Republicans steal it again and we have President McBush?? Also, if history says anything, the Democrats will likelly say that it is old and they want to start out with a clean slate and on a pleasant non-partisan foot. (How can such flagrant criminal and treasonous behavior be forgotten, in essence forgiven??)
They just don't have the votes for it in the Senate. Like it or not (and I don't) it would just be a futile effort, we would get the bad effects of the process and not the good ones. The impeachment process is not like a regular trial where you just have to determine guilt.
The point that it will further teach people about these things is moot. The people are aware of these things and those that agree with Bush simply don't care, because like him they go from the gut (as opposed the mind) and will use any means they consider necessary.
I certainly agree that they broke many laws and they need to be punished for it. What we need is to put them up on war crimes charges and to work for a constitutional amendment that would allow for the president to be tried outside of the impeachment process.
Our current system puts him above the law so long as he has enough backers in either house.
Here is the actual process that they have to go through to impeach the president.
http://www.nytimes.com/learning/general/specials/impeachment/
As you can see, while the house can start the impeachment process on their own, and are the only body that can, that only gets you, at best, to step 7.
While the Reckless Republicans went ahead against Clinton knowing they would lose, that was a publicity stunt and it cost them.
While I agree that every day Bush is in office is a tragedy for our nation, Pelosi is actually correct, and you shouldn't doubt her progressive credentials based on this.
mbattey, I don't know what the NYT has to say I abide by the Constitution. The House of representatives begin with a vote to Impeach, Prez stands trial for the accusations in the Senate. The Chief Justice of the Supremes presides at the trial. Members of the House serve as prosecutors and the full Senate sits as the jury. 2/3 of the Senate to convict nad get his ass out>>>>>Thats about all I know 'cos I just love me some Article.II.Section.4.....dream balloons float away.....
ELEPHANT fazoo! Listen to the Republicans cry and whine, and make their lame arse excuses! If you were a little younger, you'd be taken out behind the woodshed and severely spanked for the lies you're telling, and then get it again for the ones you've told. STILL A REPUBLICAN? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?????????
Impeached or not, he's (GB) bad history after 20 January 09. President Obama will hopefully NOT provide amnesty to his predecessor.
The following cited link suggests other major reasons why caling 202/225-5126 will be useless.
http://justanothercoverup.com/?p=496
Congress, aside from a few like Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich, marches for the same drummer as the current WHP. (Read his papa's lips. White House Puppet)
I read the replies
DEAR GUTLESS SHEEP OF AMERICA. DID ANY ONE OF YOU PHONE THAT NUMBER???? You are more guilty than the ones you point the finger at. DEMOCRACY , wake the f up
guess I will sign off now, any american sheep want to get their faces shoved through the fence?
baaa baaa america the wimps always wanting some one else to do the job.
Wait until a Democrat steps into the White House.
I'll bet my left lung, leg, kidney and arm that there are already "think tanks" finding a way to start Impeachment hearings.
When Liberals/Dems stop being such a-holes, they will stop realizing that, if they do not do what the MAJORTIY of their party wants, they will pay...not by being unseated neccesarily, but by seeing how the "enemy" (GOP) acts.
When Bill Clinton was in the WH, I think it was 85 million bucks of taxpayer's money spent on trying to get him impeached.
I remember a sign during a protest.
Whould someone please give Bush a blow job so we can impeach him.
That shows you the power Bush etc has, they can openly murder, lock up and bomb cities daily and not a thing is done.
