Press Call Tomorrow: Members of Congress Push for Big Oil Windfall Tax To Relieve Consumers From High Prices at the Pump

On Wednesday, June 15th at 9:30am ET, Stop the Oil Profiteering (STOP) will host a press briefing with members of the U.S. Congress and advocacy groups to discuss the fossil fuel industry’s war profiteering, high gas prices, and how the Big Oil Windfall Profits Tax can help address these issues.

A windfall profits tax could generate up to $40 billion in revenue that would go directly toward providing relief to middle and low-income Americans. 80% of Americans support a windfall profits tax, and U.S officials report that the Administration is now considering this wildly popular proposal.

President Biden’s comments bashing the oil and gas industry for profiting off of high oil prices at the expense of Americans, stating that “Exxon made more money than God this year,” shows that the White House and Congress are both ready to hold Big Oil accountable and provide relief to hardworking families.
