Patriotic Millionaires Celebrate Progressives Holding Strong on BIF to Protect Biden Agenda

"The vast majority of the President's overwhelmingly popular Build Back Better Agenda is contained within the reconciliation bill, not the infrastructure bill."

WASHINGTON

In response to Speaker Pelosi's decision to push back the vote on the bi-partisan infrastructure bill, the Patriotic Millionaires Chair Morris Pearl, a former managing director at BlackRock, Inc., released the following statement:

"Last night was not just a victory for progressives, it was a victory for President Biden, the entire Democratic party, and the American people. The vast majority of the President's overwhelmingly popular Build Back Better Agenda is contained within the reconciliation bill, not the infrastructure bill. The reconciliation bill contains the investment in American families and tax hikes on the wealthy that Democrats ran on last November, and it's what voters expected when they delivered them control of the federal government.

In order to ensure the reconciliation bill passes, it must be tied directly with the infrastructure bill. There is no reason to pass infrastructure before reconciliation, and members of the House who pledged to vote no on infrastructure should be celebrated for their defense of the President's agenda."

The Patriotic Millionaires is a group of high-net worth Americans who share a profound concern about the destabilizing level of inequality in America. Our work centers on the two things that matter most in a capitalist democracy: power and money. Our goal is to ensure that the country's political economy is structured to meet the needs of regular Americans, rather than just millionaires. We focus on three "first" principles: a highly progressive tax system, a livable minimum wage, and equal political representation for all citizens.
