July 4: Trump Coronavirus Death Clock to Circle White House, Trump Hotel During Fourth of July Celebrations

July 4 Demonstration Will Highlight Trump’s Inaction Resulting in 76,000-Plus Unnecessary Coronavirus Deaths

WASHINGTON

Public Citizen and the creators of the Trump Death Clock will highlight President Donald Trump's reckless and deadly response to the coronavirus pandemic by driving the Death Clock in front of the White House and Trump International Hotel during July Fourth celebrations and reading the names of coronavirus victims over a loudspeaker.

The Trump Death Clock, a double-sided video truck that will display the real-time number of deaths attributable Trump's inaction during the pandemic, has appeared in cities across the U.S. Most recently it was in Tulsa, Okla., ahead of Trump's June 20 rally, which risked the health and safety of those who attended.

Trump and his administration were advised as early as January that urgent measures were needed to stop the spread of the pandemic, but he refused to take action until mid-March, resulting in an estimated 76,000 unnecessary deaths, or 60% of the overall coronavirus death total. Trump has also undermined his own public health experts, pushed states to reopen early and spread misleading information about the virus.

Photographs of the truck on its route will be circulated by 2 p.m. EDT Saturday, July 4 in a press release for free use with proper credit to the photographer.
