Sunrise Movement Responds to Latest IPCC Report

WASHINGTON

Today, following the release of the latest IPCC report, which details mass human suffering, Varshini Prakash, Executive Director of Sunrise Movement, released the following statement:

"Young people have been righteously frustrated at our country's inaction on the climate crisis -- and the latest IPCC report yet again confirms our worst fears. The report is clear: if we continue on our current path, there won't be water to drink, there won't be clean air to breathe and millions of people will die -- and we know frontline communities will bear the brunt of the devastating impacts of climate change, while fossil fuel corporations profit.

"The US has continued to fail on climate and we are entering an era of mass human suffering. We are at a crossroads - will Biden continue to extract the oil and gas that fuels our wars and floods our homes, or will he use his power to confront the fossil fuel industry head on, commit to climate justice and move us towards an era of renewable energy and a Green New Deal?"

Sunrise Movement is a movement to stop climate change and create millions of good jobs in the process.
