Democracy Now!’s Sharif Abdel Kouddous Live from Egypt: The Rebellion Grows Stronger
Massive protests in Egypt have entered their seventh day as tens of thousands pack into Tahrir Square in Cairo. Protesters are vowing to stay in the streets until President Hosni Mubarak resigns. A general strike was called for today, and a "million man march" is being organized for Tuesday. We speak with Democracy Now! senior producer Sharif Abdel Kouddous, who is in Cairo. "This is a popular uprising across all segments of society," Kouddous says. "People are so fed up with Mubarak, it's hard to describe. They curse him. They want him to step down. And they will not leave the streets of Cairo, the streets of Egypt, until he does."

How much did Mubarak pay you to write this piffle?
Withdrawn. I think something happened. I was commenting on a clueless post that subsequently disappeared and somehow my comment ended up here where it does not belong.

This is such a momentous event! I can hardly wrap my mind around it! At first, a few days ago, I thought.....just another uprising, nothing will come of it. But now, I watch these brave people who have had enough of their corrupt government and are peacefully calling for that government to step down. This video is a picture of what can and should happen in this country. Millions in the streets!!!! This is how we oust our own corrupt corporate government! WE NO LONGER WANT A CORPORATIZED COUNTRY! We do not want BIG MONEY to be our god! We want our nation to belong to the people. We want a true government, of whatever name it must be, for the people and by the people. WE NO LONGER WANT AN EMPIRE!!!
Keep speaking this message....and soon, perhaps...we can follow the lead of the citizens of Egypt and take back our country.
I wish safety, peace, success to the people of Egypt. I for one, am very proud of them.
Whatever happens now in Egypt....they have already won.
It appears that "...things are quieting down..." according to some reports, which may mean that Mubarack has won. There seems to be no leader to the movement, a fatal flaw. I strongly support democracy and the removal of the dictator, but there is little hope until a leader rises from the crowd.
