TODAY Election 2020 Media Briefing: Record Early Voting Despite Barriers

WASHINGTON

Today at noon ET, Common Cause election experts will brief the media on the record-setting early voting turnout that has occurred amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in key battleground states and without the mass disruption some have predicted. Early voting -- by mail and in-person -- has provided a safe and secure way for voters to cast more than 37 million ballots in the 2020 election season. State leaders from New Mexico, Ohio and Pennsylvania will share early wins on failed intimidation tactics, cured ballots, COVID-19 safety and absentee postmarks.

WHO:

  • Heather Ferguson, executive director of Common Cause New Mexico
  • Suzanne Almeida, interim executive director of Common Cause Pennsylvania
  • Catherine Turcer, executive director of Common Cause Ohio
  • Sylvia Albert, director of voting and elections
