Free Press Applauds FCC for Releasing AT&T/T-Mobile Findings
WASHINGTON - On Tuesday, according to several reports, the Federal Communications Commission will permit AT&T to withdraw the company's application to merge with T-Mobile. However those reports indicate that the agency will also release a report on its review of the transaction and its findings.
Free Press Policy Director Matt Wood made the following statement:
“We applaud the FCC for not allowing AT&T to hide the facts of this merger from the public. The evidence in the record is damning, and we’re pleased to learn that the Commission plans to release its findings. From the beginning, it has been clear that this merger would kill tens of thousands of jobs, raise prices for consumers and destroy competition in the wireless market. This announcement is just further confirmation that this deal is dead.”
