Kucinich Joins Congressional Delegation to Haiti

WASHINGTON

Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today joins Congressman Robert C. "Bobby" Scott (D-VA) and others on a Congressional Delegation to Haiti to review and assess the needs of the ongoing humanitarian operation there. Other members in the delegation are Representatives Michael Burgess (R-TX), Michael Capuano (D-MA), and Gwen Moore (D-WI).

"The people of Haiti have suffered a catastrophe. The United States' response has helped save lives and get Haitians desperately needed medical attention; however we must also marshal the resources to help Haiti meet its long-term redevelopment needs," said Kucinich. "This trip is vital to understanding the challenges Haiti will face on the road ahead."

The website for more information about what can be done to help the victims of the earthquake is www.usaid.gov. U.S. efforts are being coordinated through the United States Agency for International Development in cooperation with other federal, state, and local agencies. Haitian citizens in the U.S. attempting to contact relatives can call 1-888-407-4747.

Dennis Kucinich is an American politician. A U.S. Representative from Ohio from 1997 to 2013, he was also a candidate for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States in 2004 and 2008.
