People’s Action Statement on Immigration in Budget Reconciliation

WASHINGTON -

People’s Action today released the following statement by People’s Action Senior Strategist Mehrdad Azemun in response to the Senate Parliamentarian ruling that reconciliation couldn’t be used to provide a pathway to citizenship:

"The Senate must pass legislation to create a pathway to citizenship for DREAMers, TPS holders, and frontline workers. That’s what we sent senators to Washington to do, and a ruling by an unelected parliamentarian does not get them off the hook. This ruling is upsetting and wrong, but it won’t deter us. Most Americans support a pathway to citizenship, and immigrants need and deserve it. The resilience of DREAMers, TPS holders, and frontline workers should embolden Democrats to finish this fight and deliver what the people want."
