The Lives of Millions of People Jeopardized by Republicans’ Ruthless Health Care Repeal Bill
“The House must halt further action on this irresponsible legislation immediately.”
WASHINGTON - Fourteen million people will lose their health insurance in the next year, and 24 million will be without insurance coverage by 2026 under the “Trump Doesn’t Care” repeal plan.
LeeAnn Hall, co-director of People’s Action, serves on the executive committee of Health Care for America Now (HCAN) and is a leader in organizing communities nationwide on health care issues.
Hall provided this statement Monday in response to the report released by the Congressional Budget Office:
“The Congressional Budget Office numbers clearly show the serious damage the repeal legislation will do to millions of lives by next year – and millions more in the next few years. The House must halt further action on this irresponsible bill immediately.
“Anyone who believed GOP promises that people would still have health insurance under the Republican repeal plan now know that they were lied to; they are going to be left out in the cold.
“Last month, People’s Action, its member organizations, and Health Care for America Now lit a national firestorm of opposition to this repeal of our health care. We will continue to fight this bill and demand quality, affordable health care for everyone in the country.”
