WASHINGTON

On Friday June 10 at 8:30am, a group of activists will march to the gates of the Convention Center in downtown Los Angeles where Biden will be meeting with select world leaders as part of the Summit of the Americas. The activists will deliver a letter rejecting President Joe Biden's policy of sanctions, exclusions, and blockades.

"While Biden made many promises to do away with Donald Trump's hardline, warlike policy against Latin America and the Caribbean, he has done very little in practice," said Manolo De Los Santos, one of the organizers. "The people of Cuba and Venezuela still suffer under criminal blockades costing them not only tens of millions of dollars in losses, but also thousands of lives through the denial of food and medicine. These policies of strangulation of entire populations are not only immoral, but they are also illegal under international law."

The action will take place on the final day of the Summit of the Americas, a gathering which has been met with widespread rejection and controversy by leaders across the region. Activists in Los Angeles and across the country have also joined in rejecting what they have termed "the Summit of Exclusion" and organized a series of rallies and actions throughout the week to make their voices heard.
