Progressives: Covid Increase, Pentagon Decrease

WASHINGTON

In response to today's House letter from progressives asking House Armed Services Committee (HASC) leadership to decrease Pentagon spending and fund coronavirus mitigation, Paul Kawika Martin, Senior Director for Policy and Political Affairs at Peace Action, released the following statement:

"Co-chairs of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, the 'squad' and other representatives know that for real American security Congress must invest in other tools besides the bloated Pentagon to cure the coronavirus and spur a just economic recovery. Democratic leadership should take note of this important letter led by Representatives Barbara Lee (D-CA) and Mark Pocan (D-WI)."

Peace Action is the United States' largest peace and disarmament organization with over 100,000 members and nearly 100 chapters in 34 states, works to achieve the abolition of nuclear weapons, promote government spending priorities that support human needs and encourage real security through international cooperation and human rights.
