Media conference call to be held Tuesday with Human Rights Campaign and the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association
WASHINGTON - The
Human Rights Campaign Foundation, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay,
bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization, and the Gay
and Lesbian Medical Association, the nation's largest association of
LGBT healthcare professionals, will hold a media conference call on
Tuesday, May 12, 2009, to discuss the release of the third annual
Healthcare Equality Index (HEI). This national report will set new
benchmarks and highlight best practices in healthcare facility policies
for LGBT Americans. The release coincides with the annual observance
of National Hospital Week.
THE LAST FIREWALL AGAINST THE LIES
Independent media has become the last firewall against government and corporate lies. Yet, with frightening regularity, independent media sources are losing funding, closing down or being blacked out by Google and Facebook. Never before has independent media been more endangered. If you believe in Common Dreams, if you believe in people-powered independent media, please support our critical Winter campaign now and help us fight—with truths—against the lies that would smother our democracy. Please help keep Common Dreams alive and growing.
The Human Rights Campaign represents a grassroots force of over 750,000 members and supporters nationwide. As the largest national lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, HRC envisions an America where LGBT people are ensured of their basic equal rights, and can be open, honest and safe at home, at work and in the community.
