Another NATO Strike Kills Afghan Civilians
Latest incident leaves two civilians, four Afghan policemen dead
A NATO airstrike has killed two civilians and four policemen in the eastern province of Ghazni on Thursday, according to Afghan officials.
"The NATO planes went there to assist the police, but the post was bombed and four police were killed. Two civilians present were also killed," Fazul Ahmad Tolwak, chief of Ghazni's Deh Yak district, told Agence France-Presse.
"They (Afghan Local Police ) were in civilian clothes - there were four of them, and they were towing a vehicle when the air strike hit them," said Fazul Sabawoon, a spokesman for Ghazni's governor.
"They could have been mistaken for Taliban."
The killings come days after fire from a NATO helicopter killed 8 civilians including two children during an attack on people described as Taliban, one in a series incidents in which innocent civilians have been collateral damage in the "war on terror."
