Drone Strikes Return to Pakistan
At least 4 killed in attack in North Waziristan
Agencies are reporting that a missile attack from a U.S. drone killed at least 4 in Pakistan on Tuesday. The attack marks the first time a drone strike has occurred since late November, when a drone attack killed over 20 Pakistani soldiers.
Spencer Ackerman: "The drone strikes are not a supplement to a war; they’re the centerpiece of how the Obama administration confronts terrorists." Yesterday's attack hit a home on the outskirts of the town of Miranshah in North Waziristan.
From an LA Times report:
“The bodies were completely burned beyond recognition,” said a local tribesman, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
The Bureau of Investigative Journalism, which has been analyzing the data behind the covert drone war, shows that Obama's drone strikes now total 258.
Russia Today analyzes the strike further:
The resumption of the drone strikes falls in line with Obama's new military plan outlined last week. “This ‘slimmed down’ plan continues the trend to rely increasingly on fighting the two wars with technology (drones) and ‘precision’ strategic bombing," stated Beau Grosscup, professor of international relations at California State University in Chico.
And as Spencer Ackerman writes today:
The drone strikes are not a supplement to a war; they’re the centerpiece of how the Obama administration confronts terrorists. The White House’s plan for counterterrorism makes that clear, as does the Pentagon’s new strategy blueprint.

Drones need to be used before their expiration date
Put the blame where it belongs! The C.I.A. is a rouge agency with no civillian oversight. There is a congressional oversight committy but they are sworn to secrecy hence no oversight. There is also a seperate section of the I.R.S. that processes the C.I.A.s employees income taxes also sworn to secrecy. I have always wanted to know what a free and open society needs with a secret police? The United States has some deep and open wounds but before they can be stiched up they have to be cleaned out. I for one have always called for the C.I.A. to be disbanded. At the end of the cold war Even the Russians disbanded the K.G.B.
"At the end of the cold war Even the Russians disbanded the K.G.B."
they disbanded the KGB nd they established the FSB shortly afterwards. The FSB's official portfolio, as approved by the Duma, includes the legal power to engage in targeted killing, They killed Chechen terrorist Shamil Salmanovich Basayev with a drone and a car bomb inside Russian territory. It controls a 210,000 man army of border guards who are armed with machine guns, armored personnel carriers, tanks, attack helicopters and rocket launchers. They carry on an ongoing system of psychological warfare against foreign diplomats by entering their homes and moving things around or replacing items - the goal being to make diplomats not want to continue working in Russia, thus insuring that they have no time to make long term connections with Russian citizens.
Blame the CIA all day long, but don't think that the Russians don't have an equal if not more powerful body as an analog.
From its inception there has been two CIAs: one that collected intelligence about foreign countries according to its mandate, and another, the cover-operations spooks who carried out assassinations, overthrowing governments, etc. The latter has engaged in all kinds of illegal acts but the sheeple of the U$ just don't seem to care, or not enough of them care, or enough of them care but the mass media is too corrupted by corporate and CIA influence that it doesn't reach critical mass. In April 1961, after the CIA organized Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba, President Kennedy said he wanted to "splinter the CIA in a thousand pieces and scatter it to the winds."
Yep, and we know how that turned out. I am reading the Brothers Kennedy and Bobby knew that THEY killed them. He never said who THEY were, but both him and Jackie said the same things.
JFK despised Dulles. Him and Hoover built a shameful agency.
" The bodies were completely burned beyond recognition". If I had the power, I would plaster the oval office with all these gruesome pictures so that our abomination to our nation would see them everyday. On the other hand, Obama is such a war mongering sell out, it probably would not do any good!
How do you email common dreams to suggest news wire pieces? Does anyone know?
I would click on "Contact Us" from "About Us" on the home page. Send them a link and suggest they feature the story.
I have tried this many times with 911 truth articles and never got a reply, even though I have supported Common Dreams financially, for many years, they never even had the decency to reply to me.
Anyone out there in cyberspace that has had any luck?
Oh readers of Common Dreams. The word is "expiry" not "expiration". Trust America to screw up the English language as well as everything else it touches. And to read that the CIA is a "rouge" agency is also rather funny. "Rouge" (French) equals "red". I think the CIA would rather be called a "rogue" agency than a "red" one.
One set of "Terrorists" has home made land mines, designed to target invading soldiers from foreign countries but, unintentionally these kill innocent people.
The other set of Terrorists has marvelous technology designed to kill anyone in a foreign country that is at variance with the policies of the U S A, in most instances this weaponry kills innocent people.
Which has the higher morality? War IS terrorism, if you don't agree, to war you have never been.
