Many Arab Officials Have Close CIA Links: Assange
DOHA - Top officials in several Arab countries have close links with the CIA, and many officials keep visiting US embassies in their respective countries voluntarily to establish links with this key US intelligence agency, says Julian Assange, founder of the whistle-blowing website, WikiLeaks.
"These officials are spies for the US in their countries," Assange told Al Jazeera Arabic channel in an interview yesterday.
The interviewer, Ahmed Mansour, said at the start of the interview which was a continuation of last week's interface, that Assange had even shown him the files that contained the names of some top Arab officials with alleged links with the CIA.
Assange or Mansour, however, didn't disclose the names of these officials. The WikiLeaks founder said he feared he could be killed but added that there were 2,000 websites that were ready to publish the remaining files that are in possession of WikiLeaks after "he has been done away with".
"If I am killed or detained for a long time, there are 2,000 websites ready to publish the remaining files. We have protected these websites through very safe passwords," said Assange.
Currently, his whistle-blowing website is exposing files in a ‘responsible' manner, he claimed. "But if I am forced we could go to the extreme and expose each and every file that we have access to," thundered the WikiLeaks founder. "We must protect our sources at whatever cost. This is our sincere concern."
Some Arab countries even have torture houses where Washington regularly sends ‘suspects' for ‘interrogation and torture', he said.
WikiLeaks is receiving sensitive files from Afghanistan, Kenya, Russia and China, among other countries. For nine years the US and Nato forces have failed to silence people in Afghanistan because the people there are loyal and truthful. The US marines fighting in Afghanistan are not happy being there and don't really know why they are there and fighting for what, said Assange. The US is trying to use latest technology to disrupt his website but in vain.
"Washington is also projecting me as a terrorist and wants to convince the world that I am another Osama bin Laden," he said. According to Assange, he will be put on a trial for his various expose in a special court in London from January 11, 2011 and this court deals with terror-related cases.
"If the UK (where I am based right now) decides to hand me over to Sweden for alleged cases of sexual abuse, they (Stockholm) would hand me over to the US," he said. Assange said he feared that the US might slap laws declaring him as a spy who had been acting against Washington. The Pentagon has set up a ‘war room' manned by 120 officials and their job is just to disrupt and destroy WikiLeaks, he said.
"We have more files dealing with defense issues of Central Europe, but I or my staff didn't have the time to go through all of them." What is being published by the five media partners of WikiLeaks are publishing only those details which they think are interesting for their readers. There are some Arab officials who are ‘stealing' oil of their countries.
"We need these media partners to focus more on this issue," Assange said in this extensive, interesting and last version of his interface with Doha-based Aljazeera. US embassies around the world are very anxious about Israel, Iran, Labour unions, arms dealings (mainly selling of American arms), and spying through high-tech devices.

Show AllArab-CIA links?
Why, this is shocking, in light of the fact that former CIA honcho H.W. Bush has been a bidness podner of the bin Ladens and others for decades.
Interesting revelations, amateurishly and incompletely written article.
Yeah, well these guys are writing in a foreign language. Can you?
touché
Not trying to be super-critical, but it's more than language.
Perhaps this article will help stifle the notion that Assange has been used by the U.S. and the C.I.A. in order to help their cause.
Yes, good point.
I hope so, Erroll.
But bear in mind that, like those who buy into an "inside politics", aka "realpolitik", sensibility, "inside espionage" thinkers are more likely than not to simply conclude that articles like this are part of the state security agencies' machinations to give Assange cover.
maybe - maybe not.
I'm waiting for Assange to walk on water.
I fail to understand this denigration of Assange and his motives. How the leaks can be seen as helpful to the govt of the USA is a mystery to me. Why some continually diminish the folks who are doing the most to stop the US juggernaut is a conclusion open to much speculation.
Like in a bad acid trip. Nothing makes any sense, and it all makes sense because the reptilian aliens from outer space are behind it all.
...and this is helpful how?
slow news day @ Wikileaks.
What about right wing idiots on the radio spouting hate towards anybody who doesn't march to their tune.
Pastors calling for assasination of leaders in foreign countries. The Becks, Limbaughs and O'Rileys'. All creating BLOWBACK and financial ruin of the "America" they profess to love.
Who really hates "America"?
Their only solution to the problem is more consumption and less regulation! The same road that got us into this mess in the first place.
More of the same insanity is madness!
But let someone expose their madness, and he is called a terrorist!
"But let someone expose their madness, and he is called a terrorist!"

i guess the most terrifying of all would be to meet face to face their own xenophobic terror. that would shatter the egos's thin shell of macho bravado, wouldn't it? so, they'd rather kick sand, throw a tantrum and call reason cowardice.
Who really hates "America"?
I believe the people in foreign countries exploited by power, have long said they do not hate the American people, they have said, they hate the American leadership. Now it seems, more and more American people are also beginning to mistrust their leaders, and have disdain for them.
As for many of our leaders, it is not a question of hate or love, it is plain indifference.
What a relevation! Gosh, who knew?
This isn't surprising, but it's good to have the confirmation.
Ah, so you admit that America is intimately involved with governments that repress the rights of women, of religious minorities, of LGBTs? That America is a nation of torturers? Good to know.
You are right. Isn't it sad that the USA has sunk so low. WMD, Torture, invasions
Two Bushes!!!!!!!!!!! Deregulation of the banking system, now having to borrow money from China to bail out the deregulated banks???
Then this:
The research, which will be published next week, confirms earlier estimates revealed by the Guardian of a major, unexplained rise in cancers and chronic neural-tube, cardiac and skeletal defects in newborns. The authors found that malformations are close to 11 times higher than normal rates, and rose to unprecedented levels in the first half of this year – a period that had not been surveyed in earlier reports.
The findings, which will be published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health, come prior to a much-anticipated World Health Organisation study of Falluja's genetic health. They follow two alarming earlier studies, one of which found a distortion in the sex ratio of newborns since the invasion of Iraq in 2003 – a 15% drop in births of boys.
So, you post a "nothing to see here, move along" comment yet again. Why, I wonder, do you not accept Assange and Wikileaks as a part of the growing ( hopefully) movement to stop US imperialism?
Royce
Assange has forced such extreme caution in diplomatic circles that he has effected an outbreak of peace. If they do send him to Stockholm, they should keep him there until they award him next year's Nobel.
Sorry, but the old methane explosions that gave Obama a Nobel Peace Prize just for not being George W. Bush (although, as it turns out, in terms of world peace he might as well be) aren't about to give a prize to Assange.
That's most likely true, but it would still be beautiful if Assange and Wikileaks were nominated.
And by the way, a detail about the Nobel Prizes. "Alfred Nobel's will further declared that the (Peace, and only the Peace) prize should be awarded by a committee of five people chosen by the Norwegian Parliament. ... The Norwegian Nobel Committee speculates that Nobel may have considered Norway better suited to awarding the prize as it did not have the same militaristic traditions as Sweden." (Nobel died in 1896)
... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobel_Peace_Prize
Now there's a delicate moment for you. Assange freed from a Swedish jail and carried in triumph to Oslo, Norway. Ah well. But just for the thought of it, someone should nominate him.
This news in not so significant to the few left-leaning self-informed individuals as it is to the rest of the world who is starting to realize the extent to which the American gov't is enmeshed in rampant secrecy and corruption. The genie has been let out of the bottle, and no amount of PR may get him back in.
so the game is on to convince the public that the genie is drunk.
They should release the names of all the CIA shills and let their peoples deal with them appropriately. After all, the US would do worse, much, much worse than that. Look at Manning for example.
The point of interest in this article,IMO, is not that arab officials colude with the CIA, but that someone has a list of their names and has, presumably, checked it twice.
I'm sure that right now in Washington a committee is drawing up plans for the immediate evacuation of all possible agents.
Late as usual, if you were an Arab Official who had contacts with the CIA and have not already packed your bags then you are suicidal. If you're not on the plane out of the country by the time the story is printed in the local papers...
It is possible to know that someone is "not a naïve man" and is "a sophisticated politician," and still understand that he is a son of a bitch.
Assange has not been able to stop the illegal settlements. Neither have you, nor I, nor anybody. Does that make us all Mossad or dupes of it?
But the further confirmation that many Arab officials have CIA connections, and hence might be slightly less anti-occupation, will help Arab patriots to reconquer their governments. In the long run. Things don't happen immediately. But I suspect that neither you nor I have done as much for the Arab World.
Ecoeng doesn't understand the meaning of what he writes, then makes assumptions based on his guesses.
It's probably more conceivable that Eco is an ill-informed western-conditioned capitalist, a Zionist or a CIA agent than Assange is an opportunist.
JJR
treble hooks are impossible to cough up
Dear Econeg:
Maybe I have read too many spy novels, but just the same, I don't necessairly read the words about Netanyahu the way you do.
I "heard" that he was "not a naive man" but it meant to me that there was a subtext that wasn't very warm and endearing at all.
Not being naive could mean that just because things are undercover now, they don't have to be, and that Mr, Netanyahu would not be naive enough to believe that. I thinkj I heard a "don't mess with me" message. Of course, it could be my "guess" too and like you, I could be wrong.
I read the lame articles you are referencing here. Indirectly, but nevertheless....
Glenn Beck has said some similar things. George Soros was thrown in as well.
The extent to which some people will twist any facts or assertions or hearsay available to them to find a Jewish Conspiracy behind everything is nothing short of astonishing.
In the 1920s and 30s many Arab Officials had links with the British and French spooks, who called them wogs, and worse. Today, the Arabs are still kissing the wrong people, the wrong way - sort of like insincere gay pigeons.
Julian: You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it French kiss. Stay well and laugh your ass off.
Trylon
What? Top officials in the US, Uk and Arab countries have close links with Israeli Zionists?
It's no wonder that this world is going to Hell in a handbasket. It's Pogrom Time again.
.
Ah, Julian is speaking the truth to power. This is what we tried to do in the late 1960s and early 1970s, in our protests against the American War on Vietnam...
ever so slightly o/t:
Since we are being treated to the likes of the "Military Bowl" and the "Armed Forces Bowl" on TV in the "Holiday Season (peace on earth?)," I have a few suggestions for future college football bowl names: The War Crimes Bowl, the Imperial Occupation Bowl, the Torture Bowl, the 911 Treason Bowl, the Halliburton Electrocution Showers Bowl...Think up a few of your own, and be sure to add them to sports radio, TV and newspaper commentary. I'm sure that the NCAA would like to hear from you, too...
"Since we are being treated to the likes of the "Military Bowl" and the "Armed Forces Bowl...""
Please, it is the Military Bowl presented by Northrop Grumman and the Bell Helicopters Armed Forces Bowl. The "defence" corporations deserve as much notice as say, Chick Fil A.
So we are just supposed to buy into whatever conspiracy theory is set before us? Sorry. The burden of proof is on you to prove that he is a mossad agent.
It was written on a website. I forget the name right now. The author of the article had absolutely no proof. He didn't seem to think it necessary to provide any information whatsoever. This article was first referenced by CD posters about two weeks ago. I read the article in question. It was highly unprofessional. I will try to find it again.
more drivel from the attention Hore. Les keeps things in prospective... http://zippittydodah.blogspot.com/

Assange is very brave to oppose the great satan. It would mean nothing to that country and its perverse politicos to murder him in cold blood. They are the worst of the worst and perverse beyond belief. It is time that a brave man shows the world the rotten core of all the strife on earth, the corrupt centre of evil that has poisoned the very air we breathe and the land we stand on. The US is beyond help and needs to be shunned by civilized peoples.
I would hardly call cozying up to the New York Times, the Washington Post, Time Magazine, and the mainstream news media "opposing the great satan." I'm having a hard time finding any of the Wikileaks "revelations" anything more than a red herring. These latest revelations only confirm this feeling.
Here's Gordon Duff on Assange, from Veterans Today:
"Julian Assange, for some unknown reason, placed full authority for what the public could and couldn’t be trusted with in the hands of the New York Times. Wasn’t Wikileaks set up to attack the press in the first place? Wasn’t it Wikileaks that was telling us, from day one, that the governments were controlling the press, censoring the news and supporting wars?
The whole purpose of Wikileaks was to eliminate and bypass the cabal of corrupt government and controlled press, to empower citizens with real information that was withheld. Instead, Wikileaks became just another government controlled newspaper, and Julian Assange got his daily press conferences, his staged photo shoots and his endless fame, all while covering his complicity in censorship and his relationships with the world’s most powerful and often reviled forces, all advocates of war.
With all the hoopla about opposing war, the majority of Wikileaks documents, certainly the most “pointed” and “seeded” of them, as Brzezinski tells us, are all in support of the wars Julian Assange said he opposed. Other than minor reports outlining the idiocy of the people who wrote the reports, cables or whatever we want to call them, other than proving American diplomats and intelligence officers are typically dupes and clowns, something a decade of war and lies has proven to the world long ago, what, exactly, has Wikileaks done?"
Personally, i read the 'Hillary Clinton Newsletter' for the most elucidating perspective on this subject.
I take it you're being ironic, but I don't get your point. Why not address what is actually said in the quote I present? Or would you rather engage in an ad hominem against Duff, a person with whom I often disagree, but who in these three paragraphs raises very legitimate questions?
