Sunrise Movement Breaks Phonebanking Goal Ahead of TX-28 Election

Today, on the eve of the Texas primary, Sunrise Movement announced it exceeded its phonebanking goal of 300,000 dials for Texas' 28th candidate Jessica Cisneros. These 300,000 dials are far beyond the number Sunrise made for Jessica in 2020, reaching thousands more voters.

"We set an ambitious goal of 300,000 dials for Jessica at the start of this cycle, but with so many young people demoralized by the political process, I honestly didn't know if we'd be able to hit it," said Ezra Oliff-Lieberman, Sunrise's Electoral Distributed Manager. "But with one day to go, we've recruited over 170 volunteers and made over 350,000 dials and counting. It's a great reminder that young people will show up and organize for candidates like Jessica who champion real progressive change. Win or lose, the lesson is clear - if you want young people behind you, run Green New Deal candidates."

On the phones, Sunrise volunteers have heard voters express concerns ranging from the climate crisis to corruption by Henry Cuellar - he accepted over $100,000 in donations this cycle from fossil fuel corporations, and is actively fighting for them in Congress.

Sunrise is supporting Texas candidates Jessica Cisneros (TX-28) and Greg Casar (TX-35) through phone banking, on the ground canvassing, and through digital and video campaigns.
