Hundreds to Rally at Paul Ryan's Racine Office for the Dream Act

Hundreds to Rally at Paul Ryan's Racine Office for the Dream Act.

WASHINGTON

Over 16,000 immigrant young people have lost protection from deportation since Trump ended the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, or DACA, in September 2017. After March 5th, young people will begin to lose DACA protections in much higher numbers. Nationwide, the immigrant rights movement has declared March 5th a national day of action to fight for the Dream Act. Wisconsin's action begins at 3:30pm at Monument Square in Racine, WI, at the corner of 6th St and Main St, just down the street from Speaker Ryan's office. A car and bus caravan will leave from 1027 S 5th St in Milwaukee at 2pm.

"On Monday we will take bold action to raise the pressure on Paul Ryan," said Luis Tapia, 16, a high school junior from Racine. "Six months ago, I was going to apply for DACA, but then Trump took that chance away from me and millions of others. Now many of my friends and neighbors are losing their protections. Monday is a national day of action, and thousands of people around the country will stand in support of immigrant youth. We will tell Paul Ryan, enough is enough! My family, my friends, and I deserve a permanent legislative solution that allows us to stay and continue to contribute to this place we call home. We need the clean Dream Act now."
