19 Leading Environmental, Advocacy Groups to Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association: Support Strong Clean Truck Standards

Ahead of EPA hearing, coalition of organizations call for EMA to meet the moment for climate action and environmental justice.
WASHINGTON -

Yesterday, on the eve of the first day of a three-day Environmental Protection Agency hearing on the agency’s proposed regulation to clean up pollution from heavy-duty vehicles, 19 organizations sent a letter to the Truck & Engine Manufacturers Association and its members to stop lobbying against stronger federal and state regulations on truck pollution and to establish a 2035 zero-emission truck target for its member organizations.

The letter reads: “EMA and [its] members must recognize this moment of opportunity, seize the technological solutions that are available, and take a bold leadership role in the transition to zero-emission trucks and buses, which do not release tailpipe pollution. We’re strongly urging EMA to join us in pushing for stronger clean truck rules that will rapidly maximize the public health benefits for the communities that need them most.”

These organizations are signatories to the letter:
