Senate Should Reject Pendley

Trump to nominate anti-public lands extremist to BLM director position.

WASHINGTON

Today, in response to news that President Trump is planning to nominate William Perry Pendley to be the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) director, a Senate-confirmable position, Accountable.US issued the following statement on behalf of its spokesperson, Chris Saeger:

"William Pendley is uniquely unqualified for this position. He has spent his career fighting for a far-right ideology that puts the wishes of extractive industries ahead of the needs of communities that rely on our public lands. As a result, he had dozens of clear conflicts of interest that render him unfit to lead BLM. We urge the Senate to reject his nomination."

Background:

William Perry Pendley, who has been the Acting Director of the Bureau of Land Management since July 2019, has 57 known conflicts of interest, and has a troubling pattern of discrepancies in his ethics recusal arrangement.
