NARAL Stands With House Democrats' Call to Disband Select Panel

NARAL Pro-Choice America is proud to stand with House Democrats today as they call on Speaker Paul Ryan to disband the Select Panel. Since its inception, the Select Panel has been conducting a taxpayer funded witch hunt that has not only wasted government time and money, but also put the safety of students, researchers, and health care providers at risk with subpoenas that could open them up to violence and harassment.

Said Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America: "As an American and as Speaker of the House, Paul Ryan has a responsibility to put an end to activity in the House that threatens the public safety. By promoting falsehoods in order to close clinics, the Select Panel has been endangering women, students, researchers, and health care providers since it was formed. House Democrats are right to call on Speaker Ryan to disband this committee and put a stop to its taxpayer-funded witch hunt. In the months following the act of domestic terrorism at a Planned Parenthood in Colorado, we can all agree that this is exact opposite of what members of Congress should be spending their time on. This is one more example of the anti-choice GOP's reckless disregard for safety of women and the priorities of most Americans."
