WASHINGTON

Yesterday, working with Indivisible and Free Speech For People, constituents from Pennsylvania's 10th Congressional District filed a complaint against Representative Scott Perry with the House Committee on Ethics over his involvement in efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential elections. Following yesterday's submission, the House Committee on Ethics will decide whether to establish an investigative subcommittee. The full text of the submitted complaint can be found here.

"As we continue to learn more about the January 6 insurrection, it is clearer than ever that Rep. Perry played a central inside role in one of the worst attacks on our democracy in our country's history," said Meagan Hatcher-Mays, Director of Democracy Policy at Indivisible. "While we are working to ensure Rep. Perry and his fellow GOP co-conspirators face the consequences of their treason in November, the Ethics Committee has a responsibility to Rep. Perry's constituents and the American people to take action and launch an investigation into his actions. We need answers, and for justice to be served."

"Representative Perry's months-long attempt to discredit and ultimately overturn the 2020 election justifies an immediate Ethics Committee investigation," said Ron Fein, Legal Director of Free Speech For People. "Perry's involvement in what a federal court has already described as a criminal conspiracy isn't just a matter for prosecutors--his behavior violates the House's ethics rules and may justify expulsion."
