New Report Urges End to Fossil Fuel Drilling and New Infrastructure

WASHINGTON

A sobering report from the International Energy Agency recommends world leaders to immediately halt new fossil fuel projects in order to contain global temperature increases.

Food & Water Watch Policy Director Mitch Jones released the following statement:

"Stopping fracking and all new fossil fuel development is the most obvious and effective course to confront the climate crisis. This is not a new analysis of the problem, but it is revealing that this message is coming from an international agency that has not staked out these kinds of positions before. That is a testament to both the power of the international climate movement and the urgency of the crisis we face. The Biden administration speaks of climate as an existential threat; it's time that they act like it, by stopping new fossil fuel projects and banning fracking everywhere."

Food & Water Watch mobilizes regular people to build political power to move bold and uncompromised solutions to the most pressing food, water, and climate problems of our time. We work to protect people's health, communities, and democracy from the growing destructive power of the most powerful economic interests.
