Voter Hotline to Answer Election Day Questions

WASHINGTON

The Massachusetts Election Protection Coalition today announced its nonpartisan reporting program for voters who encounter any problems when they vote. On Election Day, voters can report voting issues or ask questions by calling the toll-free number, 866-OUR-VOTE (866-687-8683). Against the backdrop of nationwide threats and challenges to a free and fair democracy, the national election protection hotline is aimed at protecting the rights of all citizens who are registered to vote.

On Election Day, voters can call or text the number and will be connected to a Massachusetts call center sponsored by Lawyers for Civil Rights in Boston and staffed by volunteer attorneys. The Massachusetts coalition includes Common Cause Massachusetts, Lawyers for Civil Rights, ACLU of Massachusetts, Massachusetts Voter Table, League of Women Voters of Massachusetts, MassVOTE, and the 1619 Project of the Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts.

There are additional numbers with information in Spanish, 888-VE-Y-VOTA (888-839-8682); in Arabic, 844-YALLA-US (844-925-5287); and in Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Bengali, Hindu, Urdu and Tagalog, 888-API-VOTE (888-274-8683).

The coalition will also have nonpartisan election protection volunteers at selected polling places around Massachusetts on Election Day to answer voters' questions and monitor voter access to the polls.

Common Cause is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization dedicated to upholding the core values of American democracy. We work to create open, honest, and accountable government that serves the public interest; promote equal rights, opportunity, and representation for all; and empower all people to make their voices heard in the political process.
