Tom Hodgkinson is a British writer, socialist and the editor of The Idler, which he established in 1993 with his friend Gavin Pretor-Pinney. He is the author of How to be Idle, How to be Free, the Idle Parent and Brave Old World. He and his partner Victoria Hull have opened The Idler Academy in west London, a coffeehouse and bookshop.
