Thea Riofrancos

  • Thea Riofrancos
  • Thea Riofrancos is the author of Resource Radicals, a book about the major players in Ecuador’s battle over control for oil and mining during a historic government transition, and the coauthor of A Planet to Win: Why We Need a Green New Deal. You may have heard her on NPR, read her in The New York Times, The Guardian, or The Washington Post, or seen her speak at universities, conferences, or the European Parliament and France’s National Assembly on topics of resource extraction, climate change, the energy transition, and social movements. An associate professor of political science at Providence College, a strategic co-director of the Climate and Community Institute, and a fellow at the Transnational Institute, Riofrancos draws from over a decade of research, fieldwork, and expertise to bring you a new publication, EXTRACTION: The Frontiers of Green Capitalism (W.W. Norton & Company; September 23, 2025).
